The SirVocea Dennis Vision Is More Clear

October 16th, 2025

Rondé Barber handed inside linebacker SirVocea Dennis a “C-” grade for the first six weeks of the season.

Todd Bowles might evaluate him a tick higher.

Bowles talked today about Dennis easing into his role as a first-year starter.

“He’s settling down. He’s settling down,” Bowles said. “You know, making the defensive call and getting everybody lined up and doing everything that he has to do and still doing his job, he was a little bit antsy to begin the season. He’s kind of quietly settling down a little bit. He’s playing faster. He’s making more plays. And you see the guy that we saw in the spring.”

Dennis remains an X-factor for the season. He’s played the run rather well and he did a solid job shadowing Christian McCaffrey on Sunday, but Dennis has plenty of room for improvement to become the player Bucs management and fans are seeking.

Joe is just giddy Dennis is healthy. That’s already a major accomplishment for him.

Dennis is tied for the team lead in tackles for loss (5) with Lavonte David and YaYa Diaby.

lions only beat 1 team with a winning record!!!!..da bears!!!!

lions have only been able to hold the Browns under 20pts this season…

BUCS have beaten 3 teams with a winning record!!!

BUCS have beaten 2 1loss teams!!!!!

BUCS defense has held 3 opponents to 20pts or less!!!!!!

BUCS are 3-0 on the road!!!!!!

    6-1!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!

    BARBER MISSED A GRADE

Barber didn’t give high marks to any Safety. Tykee has been the best player on defense over the course of the season. At one point, Tykee led the team in sacks, tackles, and TFL. He still leads the team in tackles. If anyone gets an A, Tykee deserves an A.

I agree that Dennis did in fact look better on Sunday, in fact I’d say much better – there were numerous times he was covering McCaffrey and I kept waiting for something awful to happen, and yet he seemed to hold his own. Hopefully, like Bowles said, he’s finally settling down. Also after missing nearly a year, maybe he wasn’t just rusty, perhaps he wasn’t 100% as well, and is finally getting back into playing shape.

In any case, he looks good.

Also, someone else who looks fantastic, Devin White, who is on the Raiders. Go trade for him, probably wouldn’t cost much, and he could step right in and play. He leads the Raiders in tackles, coming off a game with a sack, forced fumble, and an INT. Licht, get him as a throw-in when you make the trade for Maxx Crosby.

When does Braswell explode on the scene?

  6. Jmarkbuc Says:

DWhite couldn’t execute his assignments in Bowles defense last time. Often out of position and freelancing when he wasn’t over running the quarterback that is. Not to mention the diva issues.

Why would we want that back?

I don’t know, maybe use him properly, like they did when you won a SB and he was an ALL-PRO. The Bucs don’t win the SB without him. Also, he’s playing great right now. Finally, have you looked at the Bucs depth chart at LB?

  8. BucsFanSince1996 Says:

Devin White needed a fresh start. If he’s playing good now I’m glad for him and grateful towards him for helping the Bucs get to the promised land. He burned his bridge with the Bucs though and he is not at all the type of person the Bucs are looking for, their concept of “I am that man”. I hope he turns his career around, but not here.

Good post! I’m starting to appreciate your verbal energy!

    Go Bucs! 6-1 by Tues!

Dennis has played 145 more snaps this season than he has combined in his first 2 seasons with us.

Some of you were in a hurry to make him the new Sabby/Tino Piscitelli.

Some of you are trying to do that with Chris Braswell with his 86 snaps
    in 6 games.

  11. GoneGator Says:

Time will tell but I’m optimistic.
Keeping CMC in check was no small task. Detroit will be another stiff test. Wouldn’t be surprised if he gets a pick or forced fumble!

    Let’s go SVD 💪🏼🏈

  12. Obvious Says:

It tracks that he would need several weeks to settle into the role.

I do get anxious thinking about Gibbs in the flat with him one on one.

Even with the injuries we can beat the lions. Their defense is down a ton of starters. I’d imagine tez and Cade get some good looks this week.

I think the difference will come down to if our defense can force Goff out of the pocket and if we can game plan around AH. There’s no way heck is going to shut him down.

  13. Woodman Says:

Keep up the good work 813!

    Rod

I’m sure after Licht’s comments about him this off-season he’s gonna be itching to bring him back

  16. Hodad Says:

He’s playing better, because he’d be benched if he played worse. Still need an upgrade at MLB next season, at least competition. Good chance it’s David’s last, better even bring in a FA.

  17. Stpetematt Says:

Bucs have never beaten Seattle and the 49ers in the same season. This is a season of firsts! 🙂

  18. Delusional Intelligence Says:

Ronde also added He was getting better and that he had a lot of responsibility with the green dot, but of course you fail to mention that. It has become readily apparent Mr. LDK has black balled Sirvoce as he has done with players in the past. Warranted or not.
This is ludicrous. Bowles has talked about the green dot before. Nothing new there so Joe didn’t mention it. It’s Dennis’ third year in the defense and he got extra time with the dot in preseason when Dennis played while other starters rested. Some might argue laying blame on the dot looks bad for Dennis. Joe didn’t want to go there. –Joe

  19. Delusional Intelligence Says:

Oh wow. Posting timeout for me? Didn’t know an opinion that counteracts the writers of the posts and their perceived agendas was so disturbing. I just won’t post anymore.

  20. Sir Fresh Says:

Look at the last three games DENNIS won’t hit anyone. Keep a eye on him this game, he will be the reason.

  21. orlbucfan Says:

I rooted for JTS. He turned into a bust. I am doing the same for SVD. Like I said, the Radio guys were commenting throughout the whole game on all the tackles he was making. Spying a healthy McCafferty sure isn’t for the faint of heart. Even LVD would tell you the same. So I hope SirVocea is turning that corner and breaks out big time MN. Add me to the @813 cheering squad: GO BUCS!! 6-1!!!

  22. Lakewood Ranch phil Says:

Lavante David has been wearing the green dot for a few weeks. I think it’s been at least 3. Watch the tape.

  23. Aqualung Says:

As an esteemed poster once said, “Maybe if he’s thinking too much, give him less to think about.” Our Todd expects everyone else to be rocket surgeons. But we don’t draft players from MIT.

  24. David Says:

He definitely looked better against San Fran than he did early in the year.
He has the talent, I fully expect to see him improving throughout the year as he thinks less and plays faster

  25. Jeffrey Becker Says:

dennis wants to hit QBs. his specialty is blitzing. he’s gonna blossom by year’s end.

  26. David Says:

    DEVIN WHITE???

No chance. He’s playing pretty decent right now, but no chance he comes back to Tampa. Coaching staff made it pretty clear they’re not interested. The dude needed to mature drastically.
Maybe bouncing to three different teams in one year and hearing how immature he was became the wake up call he needed to hear.
Wish him well, but that ship sailed.

Besides, the Raiders aren’t giving him up.

The Buccaneers will be drafting two ILB‘s next draft

  27. ModHairKen Says:

Delusional, you are a weak person. Stiffen up.

  28. MadMax Says:

LB will be our first next draft,,,no dis to Dennis….but its a glaring spot that needs addressed….we’ll figure it out.

in the mean time, Maxx Crosby please

  29. Beeej Says:

I wish we could have found some way to get Campbell, that guy is killing it

  30. garro Says:

SVD looked way more active Sunday to me. I noticed him in the mix around the ball.

McCaffrey assignment was handled well in my view. He has killed us in the past. He was a non factor in this one. Kudos to SVD. Could he finally be getting attuned to the Pro game? Hope so.

Lions have a run game. Hope he shows up with lots of tackles. Green dot or not…

    Go Bucs!

  31. Mveal2006 Says:

Thanks rod munch for the dw info, I was wondering.

You know all the Dennis overhype could be a mind game to get Dr’s mind right and we can resign him bext year or even at tgectrade deadline

If so, that’s genius level playing imo.

  32. Falconrap Says:

It takes time and live game reps to get up to speed. Ronde was horrible as a rookie. Where’s he at now? Sapp made plays at times as a rook, but also missed a lot. Even McMillan last year sucked for the first half or so of the season, then turned it on down the stretch. Some guys pick it up faster; some slower. It looks like Dennis is starting to see the field and isn’t thinking as much. He made some key plays in Seattle, but looked much better in the 49ers game. If he can keep improving, I think he’ll be at least Quarles level good. We’ll see.
