Sounds Like Bucs Will Be Without Jamel Dean And Benjamin Morrison
October 1st, 2025So head coach Todd Bowles volunteered today that the Bucs probably had more guys unavailable to practice than those who could.
That’s why the Bucs left their pads in their locker and had a walk-through Wednesday session in the Glazer Shed.
Starting cornerback Jamel Dean left the Bucs game Sunday after 14 snaps with groin and hip issues. Rookie Benjamin Morrison replaced him and logged 39 snaps and played well. But he also left the game with a hamstring problem.
The Bucs juggled the secondary for their final four snaps on defense.
While there’s no official injury report released yet, Bowles seemed to make it clear today that Dean and Morrison won’t play Sunday in Seattle.
“With Dean and Morrison out, anytime you lose two corners your depth is going to be tested,” Bowles said today. “So, you know, we got away with it in the ballgame [against the Eagles]. We just want to see how the week goes with the other guys and see if we got to move some people around.”
Still on the Bucs’ bench is veteran Kindle Vildor, a former starter with the Lions and Bears. Joe suspects he’ll be the guy getting a long look this week to replace Dean and Morrison but, as Bowles said, the Bucs are light on guys to hold a decent practice.

O boy, a double By Pass…
These guys have all the talent in the world. What a shame our guys are so fragile.
OUCH and Ooof!
October 1st, 2025 at 2:51 pm
Been watching the Bucs since ’76. I can’t remember there being this many injuries to key players this early (or anytime really) in the year.
I hope this isn’t a common theme, although it has been, with Morrison. He looked really quick and decisive when he was on the field.
October 1st, 2025 at 3:00 pm
Better call up Bryce Hall. Leave Parrish right where he’s at, and let’s get this thing going.
October 1st, 2025 at 3:04 pm
And Ronde Barber went like 36 years without missing a game.
Everyone wants the money shot and thinks sound tackling is for losers.
How did these guys even get drafted?
Did they stop drinking their milk at age 12?
October 1st, 2025 at 3:04 pm
This sucks.
I hope by week 10 the Bucs are healthy. Great we have a 3-1 record but as a fan it’s tough to have confidence every week when bodies are dropping like this.
A fully healthy Bucs squad and we could be making some money betting these guys to win! Vegas will always undervalue our Bucs. A healthy team, we beat our first 3 opponents by 2 scores and we probably beat Philly. We should beat Seattle to but instead we are the walking wounded and 3.5 pt dogs.
Now if we lose… injuries are an excuse but that doesn’t give us any comfort. Most of us here need a healthy team, then if they lose, we yell at Todd. 🙂
October 1st, 2025 at 3:05 pm
So much for the plan that when Dean gets hurt Morrison steps right into a spot and steals the starting job. LOL
This sucks. And it’s the all too common Buccaneer hammy that is the issue. His hips are fine. Go figure.
October 1st, 2025 at 3:06 pm
Mr and Mrs Cooter were just sitting on the porch having a glass of Ice Tea talking about this every subject, Bucs are in for a long Sunday, take the Hawks minus 3.5 and the over 44, The Cooter’s predict a 37-23 game in favor on Seattle
October 1st, 2025 at 3:10 pm
hard to win in seattle with so many back ups!!
October 1st, 2025 at 3:10 pm
In a word….P A T H E T I C.
October 1st, 2025 at 3:11 pm
4 game losing streak incoming…
Hopefully the media hammers Todd in his pressers about why he can’t have this team prepared consistently
4-5 at the Bye sounds about right
Great job Licht trying to replace one injury prone CB with another LOL
October 1st, 2025 at 3:11 pm
Can the Bucs hire to the training team staff a hamstring specialist?
Can we find a student from the pliability school of stretching… an Alex Guerrero disciple or something?
A kung fu master? Jean-Claude Van Damme’s ex trainer (he was pretty flexible, I doubt he ever pulled a hammy?) 😆
Anything is worth looking into at this point.
Leave no hamstring stone unturned.
October 1st, 2025 at 3:17 pm
4-5 at the bye IF we’re lucky. This team is in big big trouble. You know it. I know it. The Bucs know it. What an absolute unadulterated disaster. Weak and soft describes this team perfectly.
October 1st, 2025 at 3:23 pm
Morrison played amazing!
We shut them down in the 2nd half!
At least Morrison brought hope to our secondary!
But Dejean?
Wow. That is one badass Gaul. (French Celt).
He is the best nickle I’ve ever seen.
He’s like a linebacker mixed with a corner.
The perfect nickle.
He made some of the most beautiful tackles I’ve ever seen!
Again. And again. And again.
I wish we had drafted him. Oh well.
Howie the GM for the Eagles is a genius. He’s the only GM I see as better than Licht.
And singing Barkley? Genius.
The other corner who was holding our guys was also amazing.
Anyway
Morrison played great in the second half.
Parish and Roberts looked great also.
I hope Bryce Hall is ready.
Also, the Castro “plucking” from the Steelers was a great move.
I would also suggest plucking a guy from the Eagles as well.
Get some intel. I’m sure we will see the Eagles again.
Go Bucs!
October 1st, 2025 at 3:28 pm
Morrison was looking good to me Sunday – willing to hit and sticky in coverage.
Dean has been playing lights out.
Sucks to lose them… Hopefully it’s not for long.
We addressed depth in our secondary in the offense season. I guess we’re going to get a chance to test it sooner rather than later. 🤞🏼
October 1st, 2025 at 3:28 pm
Is Izien coming back? When? Parrish is also proving to be a good draft choice. BucU, you better keep an eye on your back windows in case a nuke hits.
October 1st, 2025 at 3:30 pm
The world is falling oh no! SMH
October 1st, 2025 at 3:35 pm
Speaking of Alex Guerrero..
Did ME13 have hammy issues while TB13 was here? .. seems like he was following the Brady plan back then..
October 1st, 2025 at 3:35 pm
Drafted damaged goods to cover for damaged goods. Brilliant
October 1st, 2025 at 3:37 pm
We’ll be fine. Vildor and Parrish etc. can help in the meantime. Just make sure McCollum is covering Smith-Njigba this week or we will be in trouble.
October 1st, 2025 at 3:44 pm
Yup. And Evans still uses it.
October 1st, 2025 at 3:49 pm
Yes. Make sure McCollum is covering the receivers. Not standing there watching the QB to see if he can pick him off while the receivers run past him.
October 1st, 2025 at 3:50 pm
the special teams coach is also the team trainer
October 1st, 2025 at 3:53 pm
mj … ‘hard to win in seattle with so many back ups!!’
Nah. This is the week that our offense really comes alive and puts up 30 plus. Control the ball for say around 35 minutes, no giveaways, and (please) no S/Ts faux pas.
October 1st, 2025 at 3:55 pm
The negativity in here is insane. Can we have a chicken little icon for the continuous complainers, Joe? So the level headed among us can filter them out.
October 1st, 2025 at 3:56 pm
Ok. DT, ILB, CB next draft……im on it but welcome some input….punter too and ive got a guy.
October 1st, 2025 at 3:59 pm
Aeneas Williams, a hall of fame corner, played 13 straight years without missing a game. Ronde was always playing. Farve had 321 straight starts while getting beat to a pulp. That’s like 20 years straight with a 16 game schedule.
Then we have our guys, many who get injured by the simple act of running.
Running?? Still unsure what exactly happened to Dean other than he was due for another injury.
What is going on with today’s players?
If anything, with the modern training methods, running injuries should never happen!
October 1st, 2025 at 4:01 pm
I have a feeling that Morrison is basically Dean 2.0
Going to be injured at some point every single season.
At least alternate injury time off, guys!
I’m hoping that 2 of them can equal 1 good healthy CB, but now they’re both out.
Sheesh
October 1st, 2025 at 4:02 pm
Oh ya Bucs will be Fine they Got Vildor Hayes an Bryce Hall who was the Bucs 3rd CB last year then got hurt week 1 for the season the Bucs have good depth at CB an they can let B Mo an Dean heal up
October 1st, 2025 at 4:02 pm
Reports saying Bucky has his foot in a boot and using crutches today at practice.
October 1st, 2025 at 4:06 pm
News flash, most nfl players are hurt every season. No team through 4 games is 100% healthy, this is why the roster is 53 and not 22. How each team stocks their shelves differs, and not everybody can perform without their top talents. One game without Evans, and he’s looking like the MVP a lot of you think Baker is. Valuable in how his presence changes the degree of difficult for at least half of the other 10 guys he shares the field with. Especially the QB & others at Wr

When you come in the comment section enough, you’ll know who to skip. Which seems to be the majority of commenters these days.
October 1st, 2025 at 4:17 pm
Vildor had a pick in preseason, and looked good. He’s a vet, put him in.
October 1st, 2025 at 4:19 pm
Injuries are part of it
Every team has injuries
Purdy might be out 2 weeks now
October 1st, 2025 at 4:22 pm
Joe …Just heard a report that the Bucs’ front office is talking to the Cowboys about trading for Mazi Smith (DT – 6’3″& 337 lbs). Was a Rnd 1 pick back in 2023 but apparently the Cowboys aren’t happy with him. Talk focused on a 6th Rnd pick & picking up his contract. Any scuttlebutt?
October 1st, 2025 at 4:27 pm
We are 3-1 and first place in our division but it feels like we are one more big injury from the season being over.
October 1st, 2025 at 4:40 pm
Next Man Up!!! Get it done!!
October 1st, 2025 at 4:44 pm
Warren brooks Lynch – Jon Gruden has forgotten more football that you will ever know in ten lifetimes. Your rationalization is cliche. Just as cliche as the losers that say “nExT mAn uP.” Gruden said that never in his life has he ever seen so many injuries. That is not hyperbole, that is not in anyone heads. And it is not anything that teams and fans should have to deal with. This is becoming an epidemic that needs to be looked at. Players absolutely did NOT get hurt at this rate 20 years ago. That ratings will continue to go through the roof because the NFL has the perfect business model and no sport is gambled on more than the nfl so the money will be coming regardless. However, let this continue or get worse. It WILL become a problem because people will eventually tune out. The quality of the product matters. I want someone, anyone associated with the league or media to actually admit that getting rid of two a days and hitting in practice had the OPPOSITE of their desired outcome.
October 1st, 2025 at 4:46 pm
We don’t need Morrison to be Dean 2.0. This was the reason he dropped in the draft and now here we are. 🤦🏻♂️
October 1st, 2025 at 4:49 pm
#teamnegative so we have problems with injured db and we draft an injured db and both are out this game. Go figure. #teampositive we are 3-1 we got this next man up. Go Bowles
October 1st, 2025 at 4:54 pm
Take Seattle and give the pts
October 1st, 2025 at 5:06 pm
SMH this Morrison pick is looking worse by the week. Couldn’t make it through college. Couldn’t make it through OTAs. Couldn’t make it a week through training camp. Couldn’t make it through half a game.
And the whole “we’re fine, next man up” “every team has injuries” needs to wake up. This team is absolutely an outlier when it comes to injuries. 4 games in and to have these many guys not be able to play? Abysmal.
Evans
Godwin
McMillian
Wirfs
Goedeke
Jordan
Mauch
J Smith
Bucky
Reddick
Kieft
Izien
Dean
Morrison
Kancey
Wisdom
Gaines
Sheppard
Walker
Jayson Jones
October 1st, 2025 at 5:21 pm
I remember an article on this here site from right after the draft when Joe wondered if drafting an injury-prone corner in Morrison to back up an injury-prone corner in Dean was a good idea. Seems prescient now!
October 1st, 2025 at 5:27 pm
GoForTheFace,
You sound like you’re new to football, and I don’t hang on every word of Jon Gruden of all people.
Next man up, buttercup
October 1st, 2025 at 5:45 pm
They drafted a injuryed cb that was hurt before the draft even started!! Jason Licht is the blame for this.
October 1st, 2025 at 6:08 pm
Who could have ever seen this coming? Injury prone veteran being backed up by a rookie with a massive college injury history.
October 1st, 2025 at 6:26 pm
Has it ever crossed anyone’s mind that players are becoming faster and stronger every year.
Maybe evolution hasn’t kept up with performance enhancement and human knees, ankles, hamstrings etc aren’t designed (hasn’t evolved) to handle the type of stress modern NFL players put them through 🤔
Or maybe it’s Todd, or the training staff, or the players need to go back to Bear Bryant 2 a days and leather helmuts like a few of our manly macho couch loungers recommend 🙄
October 1st, 2025 at 6:38 pm
Get rid of Morrison now or it will be exactly what this team went thru and are still going thru with Dean
October 1st, 2025 at 6:52 pm
Dean………again. How long before he suits up again and the gets hurt…again?
October 1st, 2025 at 6:58 pm
The sky is falling. The season is over. It’s all (fill in the blank _______’s) fault. All of this could have been prevented. The football gods are frowning upon us. Somebody do something!
October 1st, 2025 at 7:46 pm
And the refs hate us too! Let’s just all run away now!
October 1st, 2025 at 9:01 pm
Regulators mount up!!
In the words of a fierce defender from the past
Injuries are inherent in football, no excuses let’s go Bucs

October 1st, 2025 at 9:20 pm
Vividly remember a post where you mentioned replacing one injury prone corner with another injury prone corner. Did think it would be the same game. Smh
October 1st, 2025 at 10:15 pm
I swear it’s the weight lifting style back in the day had these guys sharp… These guys nowadays are getting coached by these new age hippies doing CrossFit, calisthenics stuff instead of old school power lifting like squats, bench, deadlifts, rows… Old school barbell players were the most durable
October 1st, 2025 at 11:52 pm
That’s a huge loss.
Offense better figure their sh!t out this week. Good thing we rotated all our RBs and didn’t overuse Bucky…
October 2nd, 2025 at 1:58 am
@ Steel Stud Buc – could be something to that. Could her A LOT of something to that. Also, the synthetic turf fields. That’s a GUARANTEE. It’s just ‘common sense’ to begin with, but there’s already, ALL the evidence they need, & that’s all across the board, from HS to College and the NFL. Regardless, there has to be BIG changes this off-season. ya EVERYONE must go! You have to clean house entirely, and start over again from scratch. It’s just TUFF (too bad), if you like ‘em, or whatever. You wouldn’t continue to do business, or anything else that way, by continuing to fro the exact same thing(s) over and over again, with the exact same personnel, & etc. while expecting ‘different’ results. I think they call-it “INSANITY,” or something like that!? You just wouldn’t. Period. It has to be over for THIS GROUP. ALL OF THEM. 💯 It’s NOT Working.
