Same Contagious Baker Mayfield

October 8th, 2025

Across the NFL landscape, Baker Mayfield has become a drug (or a plate of Hooters tater tots) that fans and media simply cannot get enough of. People love hearing what Mayfield is all about.

One guy who gets pressed for that information all the time is Bucs receiver Sterling Shepard. He was a Mayfield teammate at the University of Oklahoma. Shepard explained on SiriusXM NFL Radio yesterday that he’s always being asked about what’s the diference in Mayfield, and Shepard said he always replies that Mayfield is the exact same guy he went to war with in college 10 years ago.

Same guy. Always jacked up playing to the death, if necessary.

“Like that dude always has a chip on his shoulder and if he doesn’t have one, he is gonna make up a reason for him to have one,” Shepard said. “I mean, you see it in his play every week. He plays every single snap like it’s his last. And it just feeds off to everybody.”

Fans are feasting on it, too. And so is the nation, with Mayfield doing it on Monday Night Football and Sunday in a long-running 4 o’clock game, one whose conclusion drew a ton of attention.

Joe wonders if the Bucs defense will start feeding off Mayfield’s energy more often.

The NFC is a beast this year…. Detroit, Eagles, 49ers, Rams, Seahawks, Redskins (I know, but they will always be the Redskins to me) if they get to the SB you have to say that this team earned it and can win it.

saw on social media Baker jawwing with some fans while the team was standing in the tunnel before running out to the field lol….

the fans were giving it to Bkaer and he was dishing it right back at em….

after the game, Baker ran right to the same group of fans that were talking trash and Baker gave it to them again!!!…LOL…

the fans were screaming, “you still suck” while Baker was yelling, “I TOLD YOU”

    IT WAS GREAT!!!!…LOL…

    4-1!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

if you want a huge dose of Baker, watch the new QB School vid it’s freaking enlightening. unbelievable in depth stuff, you’ll prolly watch it twice

Now we need a few 5 touchdown games, another big prime time game and a top 2 seed to cement him as MVP. I have $30 on him at 32 to 1 for MVP.

  5. BA’s Red Pen Says:

The defense needs to be better but what’s going to F the Bucs up is being strapped down by the worst special teams in the NFL.

A comparison – of two quarterbacks – Tom Brady and Baker Mayfield- what do they have in common?

Both have that competitive drive to win at all costs. Brady had played so long and seen it all. He understood defenses better than any Quarterback.
Mayfield has a chip on his shoulder that makes-wills him to perform and will his team to win at a higher level than any Quarterback playing today

What are the chances of two back to back Quarterbacks playing at this level in Tampa? IS it luck. No I don’t think 🤔 so.

It started when Jason Litch decided to chance the type of Buc player they wanted. Character mattered as much as talent. Brady taught the Buccaneers how to be a winner and the Buc front office, coaches. team players implemented the winning formula to contend for a Division. win in the playoff games and play in the Super bowl.

It takes strong leadership from everyone. Without this formula the Bucs would be a team that a previous Coach once said “I’m in favor of their execution. “

Love it Joe, yes defensively the team needs to feed off of Baker. However, believe that is a lack of personnel, middle linebacker, outside rush of course and recent injuries In The secondary . We need a real middle linebacker, no doubt, besides David

@813BucBoi, I saw him jawing with the fans in the tunnel, but not after the game. That is hilarious that he gave it back to them after the game. What the Seattle fans don’t realize is that Baker needs that type of harassment to get an even bigger chip on his shoulder. He is always going to prove the azz clowns wrong.

  11. Erik with Pilot and Driver™ Says:

Those Seattle fans who were talking crap to Mayfield before the game shouldn’t have poked the bear.

I’m glad they did, though! Lol

Any extra fuel is obv good for Bake and everyone of us

I love skip bayless post from Monday about Baker Mayfield. He says, “Don’t bet against the prick.” That’s Baker. We love him and the fans around the rest of the league hate him because he doesn’t take crap from anybody. However this season turns out for this embattled team, hats off the Baker and his grit! He’s a winner! If you are a Buccaneers fan and you don’t love the way he plays the game, well, you don’t like football.

I am so done with Methuselah12. Feisty Bake blows his wrinkled butt out of the water in terms of drive, teammate, and enthusiasm. Any competent journeyman QB could have won that second SB with the Bucs team. They were ready ‘cept for the QB position. Bucs were not Brady’s first choice. The 49ers were. Brady helped put the Bucs in a cap straitjacket to get that 2nd SB. Fact. I do have to say I loved the Seahawks going back to their original unis. Plus, the creamsicle colors and logo fit Tampa Bay as a Florida team. Someone on here compared that to the Falcons’ colors. Guess they’re color blind. The pewter, red and black come a lot closer to Atlanta’s colors. 5-1, Bucs!!

  14. Bakenyourface Says:

Those Seahawks fans had their faces Baked ..bwahaha!
Marriage has mellowed him out somewhat.. if you can call that mellow.

Mayfield reminds me a bit of MJ in that way. Jordan would always find +something+ to get pissed off about before each game, but I think he was more deliberate and consistent about it than Mayfield.
