Jason Licht: Offensive Help Is Coming To Detroit

October 13th, 2025

Will Mike Evans be ready?

UPDATED: The Bucs are 5-1, proud owners of the best record in the NFC, without many of their best players available.

It’s a beautiful and unfortunate reality.

Help, however, is on the way next week. That comes directly from the highest of high Bucs priests not named “Glazer.”

Before yesterday’s kickoff, general manager Jason Licht hopped on the Buccaneers Radio Network and declared that help is on the way.

“Next week we’re hoping to get a couple back and some other players back, too, at least one other on offense,” Licht said with authority.

So who is returning on offense? Joe guesses it’s future Hall of Fame receiver Mike Evans, who has missed the past three games with a hamstring injury. When Evans popped/pulled/strained his hamstring against the Eagles on Sept. 21, Joe heard in the locker room that the injury wasn’t major and subsequent reporting speculated Evans would miss three or four games.

It could be the other “Mike,” guard Michael Jordan, but Joe doesn’t believe that’s where Licht’s brain was when he made the comment.

(UPDATE: Todd Bowels said this afternoon that the Bucs expect to see what Evans and Jordan can do in practice this week and will determine their statuses later.)

Joe doesn’t expect stud running back Bucky Irving back next week. And Luke Goedeke, well, nevermind.

Licht also talked about how proud he is of the Bucs’ depth and preparation.

“So we’ve got get through these games, do whatever we can to win like Todd [Bowles] and his staff have been doing,” Licht said. And I’m very proud of what we’ve been doing with the resiliency and how we’ve won here. Especially with the play of our quarterback at the end of the games.”

    im thinking mike evans…

    any news on haggard?

    5-1!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  3. BucsBeast Says:

Slap a 5 year extension on the table for Bake right damn now.

  4. Regulator16 Says:

I’m not against waiting until after the bye to bring some of these guys back. I feel we can compete enough with Detroit, and I 100% think the team(in our current state) can beat New Orleans! So say we go into bye at 6-2 at worst…that’s pretty damn good. Give our guys 3 more weeks to get healthy. Make a run the final 9 games and win the division and possibly get top seed. I’m ok with it.

  5. Joe Sea Says:

Man, I’ve listened to Booger talk Bucs and I would not be shocked if that was him mixing up RT and RG.

Goedeke might be out longer than the original IR length, but I think the Bucs FO likes to be smokey with injuries and any confusion coming from these talking heads just allows them to issue opaque injury updates. “We expect him back this year” doesn’t mean, necessarily, that he’s out for more than they ever expected.

  6. Oxycondomns Says:

was there ever an explanation on why goedeke who was injured during the week played in that game? that seems like potentially another huge messup .

  7. gofortheface30 Says:

    LETS GO

  8. Carlitin1988 Says:

If we can get Mike Evans back this week that would be HUGE! Just hoping when we plug him back into the offense hes a hundred percent and if hes not i would sit him until he is. I know that is not the way most football players and coaches operate but we do need to manage thew workload of our older players to make sure theyre ready for January football.

  9. Bill in Seminole Says:

How is Egbuka’s hamstring? Will we have him back next week?

  10. Ben Says:

This was before rhe Egbuka injury. So things just got much worse for Tampa. Hoping to get “one back” to going to “NEED” to get one back. Is it too much to ask to get our stsrting offense together once this year?

  11. David Says:

I have visions of Evans, Godwin, Egbuka, Bucky all playing at the same time after the bye week… I see 35 points every game. Is health too much to ask?

  12. BucU Says:

The players that were able to play balled out big time. I tip my hat to each and every player out there. Except Chris Braswell. I see him being cut after the season. Roster spots are too valuable to have an invisible man out there regardless of your draft status. As far as this injury epidemic is concerned I declare Benjamin Morrison and Kancey as injury prone busts. And if Gedeke is out for the year I’ll throw him in there too. If you’re constantly injured you are a LIABILITY to this organization. And they are constantly injured.

  13. infomeplease Says:

Since the nexttamis on MNF, the Buc’s get an extra day to rest too. This surely can’t hurt! Next man up!!! Bring on Detroit. Get it done!!

  14. Smarter than Joe Says:

    Evans back against Detroit

Luke G will be back after the Bye

Bucky will be back after the Bye

Godwin will be back after Bye

    Emeka will back against Detroit

  15. infomeplease Says:

Correction… since the next game is on MNF..

  16. Saskbucs Says:

Joe please stop feeding us the talking head speculation about OL injuries.

The nevermind link to a potential misquote from Booger, what’s that for? As far as I can tell Luke can come off IR soon and be fine.

Unless you or another reporter can get some concrete info, leave it be. It’s frustrating to not know but more frustrating to speculate with no apparent evidence, that our starting RT season is in question. Hope is high for this squad, let me live in it.

  17. SJComm64 Says:

Still concerned regarding Egbuka! Hopefully just something minor but we all know what kind of complications can be associated with hamstring injuries! Anxiously awaiting any news or reports..

  18. Geno711 Says:

Saskbucs — There have been others besides Booger suggesting that Goedeke could be out longer than the minimum for 4 weeks. It does not matter what it the injury actually is, but it seems to me to be pretty clear to me, that he will not be back at the 4 weeks minimum.

So, articles to fans on Joe Bucs suggesting the same seems appropriate to me.

  19. Smarter than Joe Says:

I don’t think Booger or any of the National Talking Heads know Luke G is out of the year. They do not pay attention to the Bucs that closely, they look at the injury report and move on.

Based on the info out there Luke G will be back, my guess is after the Bye as they don’t want these guys rushed then they are hurt again and out towards the playoff push

I think the goal is to get healthy post Bye and make a strong push for the playoffs

  20. ModHairKen Says:

    861 yards in 11 games.

    Make it happen, Cap’n!

  21. orlbucfan Says:

No way am I speculating on the offense. I heard Licht’s comment on Bucs Radio. What I will say is All-World TW78 is getting back in football shape. That’s huge right there cos it’s starting to stabilize the OLine. If Big ME13 does start, please be 100% healthy, Big Mike. This injury plague is beyond ridiculous!

  22. Lt. Dan Says:

I think I saw Ben Chukwuma in uniform and on the sideline yesterday. I was a couple of beers in, so I can’t be sure. I’m seriously intrigued by him. Hopefully he’s the steal of the draft.

  23. Sam Says:

Coach’s press conference just now. Zyon…maybe… Mike…maybe….No on Chris….maybe on Jordan

  24. gbobucsfan Says:

I love me some ME13 but at this point, I think a healthy EE is a better option. Seems like EE gets more separation.

  25. ocala Says:

Evans is still one of the top receivers in the league. He will help a ton.

  26. First Last Says:

Reinforcements have arrived. Also, we need to news on Luke Godeke. I’ve seen him twice now walking on his own weight in two separate game day videos. We need to know the truth, is he out for the season on was in misinformation? If we got Mike Evans back that would be solid to scheme open the other guys.

  27. Let em bake Says:

Parrish a gold nugget pick. Elijah Klein filled in nicely yesterday . The depth of this squad can not be overstated. Licht is a talent divining rod.

  28. Ugotrobbed Says:

7&1 at the break! Just do it! Then full steam ahead to the Super Bowl!!

  29. Durango 95 Says:

Maybe I missed it. Entirely possible. Has Bowles or Licht been asked about the status of Luke after reports surfaced last week that Luke may be out for the season? Bowles has a his usual Monday presser earlier today. Any word?

Bucs fans are restless and want to know.

  30. Geno711 Says:

A local guy, who apparently, I cannot mention his name on Joe Bucs Fan, has also been saying that he thinks Goedeke will be out longer.

Not that the local guy cannot be wrong — but I say that to suggest that it is not coming from just national guys but local guys as well.

The local guy’s name rhymes with TJ Metterman.

  31. Outrigger Says:

I agree with “Smarter than Joe” on his time lines except for Embuka. I hope your right that he plays Monday night but my guess is we don’t see him until after the bye.

  32. Thunder Says:

What about McMillan a strain shouldn’t take too long.

  33. Durango 95 Says:

The local guy’s name rhymes with . TJ Metterman
    —–
    Was it OD Ketamine?

Was this mentioned on air or did little birdies to tell you?

  34. HC Grover Says:

over 30 points and all white unis.

  35. SlyPirate Says:

    CRAZY TO THINK …
    The team is fine.

    CRAZY BUT TRUE …
    1. Bucs played great offense, defense, and special teams against a 4-1 team.
    2. Bucs punted 3 times. Evans, Godwin, Bucky don’t change that.
    3. Baker was sacked 1 time. Mauch and Luke don’t change that.

A healthy team doesn’t change a thing about yesterday.

WHO WE NEED STRICTLY W-L …
    High – Egbuka, Zyon … Our #1s.
    Mid – Goe … Upgrade.
Low – Evans, Bucky, JMac … Not until they are 100%.
    No – Godwin … He’s cooked.

  36. Durango 95 Says:

Translation. HC Grover is of the firm belief that if the Bucs score 30 or more wearing their all whites. It is a stone-cold-lock victory. I am of the belief even if they dress in their skivvies and score 30 points they win.

  37. BucsFan81 Says:

I guess I was hoping for even better news. I thought maybe we would get Evans, Godwin and Bucky all back for the Lions game.

  38. Christopher Schiefen Says:

Why are you taking Booger’s word when he simply got the 2 IRs confused?

  39. Saskbucs Says:

@Geno711… my whole point is that no one seems to know and who wants negative speculation? I don’t.

Other posters here are saying I heard this and that.

Booger and Schefter comments mean almost nothing to me. Get a quote from in the building or don’t even mention it again. No news is better than bad news, especially bad news that can’t even be confirmed as true.

  40. JohnG Says:

The O line injuries the Bucs are dealing with are part of a greater trend in the NFL. Lots of offensive linemen are getting hurt, and some of that has to do with conditioning, and the fact that most teams treat the O line as an afterthought. Another factor is that may offensive linemen come to the NFL ill prepared physically for the intensity of games at this level. College offense is a very different beast./

  41. Mbrnext Says:

Could care less about the next 2 games! Have the opportunity to let these guys heal for 4 weeks and then have a run at the last 9 games. Get 3 starters back on offense and 3 back on defense. 14-4 gives us home field advantage in the playoffs and no one wants to see a healthy Bucs team in the playoffs or the SB.

  42. Marky mark Says:

Pull some receivers from someone else’s practices squad.

  43. Marky mark Says:

If Mike or Emeka cant go bring up Greene and,Houston

  44. Ha-Ha-Ha Says:

Lion lost a DB to suspension.
