“I Love The Offense Because They Attack”
October 9th, 2025
Attacking offense.
Usually, offensive linemen, especially retired offensive linemen, like ground and pound, smashmouth football.
While former 11-year offensive lineman Brian Baldinger may like it, he loves the Bucs offense. And part of that is because of left tackle Tristan Wirfs.
Hey, you can’t take the big ugly out of Baldinger.
Appearing on “The Insiders” last night, seen on NFL Network, Baldinger raved about the Bucs offense. Of course, the big three for him (currently eligible to play) are Baker Mayfield, Emeka Egbuka and Wirfs.
“Well, I love the offense because they attack,” Baldinger said of the Bucs. “They attack every week. They attack differently, depending on who is available.”
That’s a heck of a point by Baldinger. How many teams have had a revolving door of star skill position players? One week Chris Godwin isn’t available. The next week Mike Evans isn’t available. Then Bucky Irving isn’t available. And that’s not to mention the card shuffling on the offensive line.
But now that Tristan Wirfs is back at left tackle and healthy, Baldinger senses the offense stabilizing.
“They are getting the ball downfield,” Baldinger said. “They are getting healthier up front for [Baker Mayfield] to do that.”
That’s another good point. Mayfield wasn’t stretching the field as much previously because at one point no projected offensive line starter was at his normal position. Now that Wirfs is back and Graham Barton and Ben Bredeson are at their normal positions, center and left guard, respectively, Mayfield is able to take advantage.
While Godwin did not practice yesterday with a bad fibula — uh, oh — which has Joe spooked, when the offense back healthy (sans Cody Mauch who is out for the year), it could be downright scary.
.@Buccaneers @49ers who doesn't love the Bucs offense; especially considering some of the key personnel they have missed during chunks of the season. #BaldysBreakdowns pic.twitter.com/uyowTEm1ZH

People who expect Godwin to be back to normal this season are living in a fantasy world.

Bucs offense is incredibly intelligent and I do not hear that word associated with our offense nearly enough unfortunately.
Bucs made nice adjustment integrating Otton back into the offense for a nice game and not just short passes. Kudos Grizz. Also nice to see Rachaad going over the RIGHT side of our Oline( Haggard, Heck, Otton and Durham) on the key play on 3rd and 7 to grab an incredibly important 1st down and getting down to run clock on a play that White could have scored on and force Seattle to use their final timeout. Kudos to Todd for coaching your coaches to be situationally aware.

The reason it all works is because we have a True Franchise QB. Where have all the Baker Haters gone since ‘Born Again’ Baker has shown that he is a STUD? Where are all the Trask flag bearers? Sitting home with Trask? Let’s get Baked!! Go Bucs!!

The way that Baker threw that ~20 yard pass to Tez showed a lot of trust. Especially since Tez hauled it in. I think we will see more of him, and probably see Chris Godwin snaps go down. I know the Bucs are wanting their money’s worth but we probably shouldn’t run him down so early with his return as he has done all of nothing but drop passes or just look rusty. Shep is producing more at this point… so I kind of agree BucVoyager

Ricky Pearsall ain’t playing so they might not score 40 on us.
Hope Bowles does something different.

the reason baker’s career got derailed in cleveland was because of a troublesome diva wide out past his prime named OBJ…
he was a pretty decent qb over there as a young nfler

Always liked Baldys take – especially on his O-line Evals which is often ignored by the tv/podcast desk jocks. Hope the team tunes the a olades out and doesn’t get ahead of their skies. Every game is important.
1 game at a time boys – got to have a big game at home!
October 9th, 2025 at 7:42 am
ehhh……we’re gonna beat this team on sunday…
we’re literally due for a win vs. the 9ers…
we’ve lost 4 of the last 5…including the last 4 in a row…
we are due…!
next week in detroit will be the problem tho

Yo Joe
What’s the update on Jalen McMillan
How’s his rehab going. We might need him to make some plays this season
As a Bucs fan I didn’t forget about him. Tell him to stay focused his big moment is coming just later in the season!!!
It’s a Bucs Life !!!

So far so good!! This team believes in each other! This week is another test! If the offense can control the clock, convert on 3rd and 4th downs, and score more TDs in the red zone the Buc’s can earn another W!
The defense needs to play better than last week too. Perhaps another turnover or 2. Get it done!!
October 9th, 2025 at 8:40 am
is it a coincidence this game happened with White picking up pass rushers so well? QB school pointed out a bunch of times he was essential to play’s outcome.

first last – was a great catch. baker adjusting to his height finally 🙂 now he can go deeper
October 9th, 2025 at 8:49 am
The key to success goes to the big guys up front. Having Tristian back is huge and he really stood out at the goal line last week. Maybe the Bucs will start scoring more TDs in the red zone instead of settling for FGs.
Don’t discount the progress of the H boys (Haggard, Heck) on the right side. They aren’t playing great – yet, but they are improving.

Love Baldy’s analyses, and he’s spot on … ‘I love the offense because they attack’. And this team is smart enough to continually adapt our attack to player availability. And with all our starters available, and Baker taking full advantage, Bucs would truly be unstoppable.
One thing I’ve never been able to understand though Joe is why this team doesn’t seem to play better at home than they do on the road. There are a couple of teams that follow a similar pattern, but very few. Looked back at our home/away records since Todd took over:
o 2022: Home 5-4 … Away 3-5
o 2023: Home 4-4 … Away 5-4
o 2024: Home 5-4 … Away 5-3
o 2025: Home 1-1 … Away 3-0
One thing does stand out though is that since 2022 Bucs have started their season hot, primarily on the road, just like this season. But then we seem to go into a mid-season drag where we struggle, at home AND away. Maybe it all just has more to do with injuries … when & to whom they occur during the season.
Missing 4 defensive players last Sunday (Kancey, Dean, Morrison & Izien) who’ll see a lot of def snaps certainly required adjustments to our defense. Vea, for instance, played 51 def snaps (84%). And maybe it shows in his stats: None. No tackles, no sacks, no pressures, no nuttin. Well actually, just noticed that he did get credit for being targeted once (but it wasn’t completed so he’s perfect there).
And if McCollum is also missing this coming game there’ll no doubt be a lot more adjustments. It’d be a lot easier to play tighter pass coverage with Dean, McCollum, Morrison & Izien available than without them.

I love the point about Rachaad White and Pass Pro.
There is definitely no coincidence there.
His screen game is just next level, probably best in the league after CMC.
He is running harder this year too.
trust me, I want Bucky back, but maybe Sean Tucker matches up well against SF who knows. Hopefully we truly find out.

Bucvoyager, you can pound sand with your apologist bs – that mindset completely goes out there door with 44 million GUARANTEED which includes this year. That’s not a return on investment anyone wants and you know it. It’s safe to assume they don’t hand that out for 50% of what he was. Will he be 100% no, but they aren’t handing that out for no production
October 9th, 2025 at 9:55 am
The truth is we no longer need Chris Godwin as much as we did before. We have multiple young guys who just need opportunities to prove they can develop into studs.
Godwin has become expendable to the team. If ha can become good again, it makes him valuable…but he was never ‘great’ anyway…he was just ‘good’…and we have other guys who can be just as good.
But the perception in the league is that Godwin was great…and if…if he can return to what he once was, we could trade him for a high draft pick. Or not. Options are there.

Remember that behind flip Baker made? It would have worked really well if we had one more clean block. I like the effort though.
October 9th, 2025 at 10:43 am
FirstLast
Chris had three of his catches for first downs in Seattle. At least one was called back. One catch that he lost in the sun was knocked out of his hands…
Go back and take a look at the blocks he made in the run game too..all after being put back in a full load rotation.
That being said, if he needs less plays and more time to round into form, make it so. If he needs to be saved for next year, do that. I’m a 1000% CG14 supporter no matter what.

Flips that go backwards turn into fumbles-Flips that go forward are incomplete passes.
October 9th, 2025 at 11:18 am
Good thing we have a good offense…need 30 a game with HC/DC Bowles
October 9th, 2025 at 11:21 am
Love the offense cuz…whats to like about the Bowles defense?
October 9th, 2025 at 2:15 pm
@HC Grover
Ask Grizz, or Baker, or the O-line, or the WRs, or running backs WHY our offense has been clutch this year and able to execute in “crunch time”.
In interview after interview (which I assume you haven’t watched) they ALL credit the SAME thing… Todd! We can execute down the stretch because our HC repeatedly drilled situational football and made ” practice harder than the game”. Thanks to Todd.
GREAT JOB Todd and Grizz 🤘🏼
