“He’s Just Pretty Damn Good”
October 8th, 2025
Already one of the NFL’s top receivers.
If you are having an ugly day at work, let Joe try to brighten your day.
In April the Bucs drafted one of the best receivers — not just in the draft — in the NFL.
That’s right. Just five weeks into the season, it’s both fair and reasonable to knight Emeka Egbuka as one of the best. No joke.
Why does Joe type that? Well, Egbuka is now tied for second-most touchdown catches (5), is fourth in receiving yards (445) and is tied for fourth with the highest average yards-per-catch at 17.8.
So yeah, Joe thinks it’s fair to suggest Egbuka is one of the best receives in the game.
And if you listen to the latest edition of the soon-to-be-published “Ira Kaufman Podcast,” you will hear Joe talk about Baker Mayfield and Egbuka already having a chemistry developed in 20ish-yard passes down the right seam.
Pretty, pretty passes. And for touchdowns, too!
So today, Mayfield was asked why he looks so dialed in targeting Egbuka even though the two haven’t even played a half-dozen games together.
Mayfield summed it up in five words.
“He’s just pretty damn good,” Mayfield said.
That’s all that needs to be said.

When the Bucs drafted Emeka I thought he was a Godwin clone. But he’s more than that. There’s nothing he can’t do on the field.

Words that cannot be uttered about Magoo or his tri-hatted boss.

Sure is better than that 15th pick we spent on Michael Clayton……or the first pick on Bo Jackson…..

We have been blessed with great WRs

As Shepard “we got us one”. What a pick by Licht. We gave him the benefit of the doubt and he really delivered.

Buka is something else! And listening to him in interviews he is a good guy, humble, polite, and solid. We got very lucky again.

As I posted before, if Egbuka remains healthy and continues his productivity, we have 4 and possibly 5 likely HOF players on the field right now: Evans, Wirfs, David, Winfield and Egbuka. That’s impressive!

Now wait just a goshdarn minute here, just a few months ago many of you wanted to tar & feather JL, and now you guys are calling his pick the Cock of the Rock. Which one is it.

“Egbuka is now tied for second-most touchdown catches (5), is fourth in receiving yards (445) and is tied for fourth with the highest average yards-per-catch at 17.8.”
Hunter/Thomas Jr combined = 0 TDs, 426 yds & Thomas has 15.3 and Hunter 11.4 YPC.
EE = 25 rec
H/T = 32 rec
One guy giving more production than two highly touted receivers.
And Hunter has been playing 60% of his snaps at receiver, so don’t give me the CB excuse.

I guess for anyone that didn’t pick up on it, those are the two young receivers of the Jaguars. Last year’s first round pick and Thomas Jr was at 23rd I believe.

McMillan update please???

Buka is better than Evans and Godwin.

There’s a difference between not liking or understanding a pick and it being a bad pick. Also ok to be wrong sometimes, especially when it turns out to be right. He was and is the best receiver in last years draft.

Also that’s a great football picture. Have seen another shot from his back side, just as good a football picture

I hate comparisons. All I know is he’s damn good.

Crowning him already. You should know better.

During the draft, when we grabbed a DL, I think it was Foote who was elated, screaming something to the effect of: “THAT’s how you win the Superbowl!”
But I think they made that comment about the wrong player. Picking Egbuka was how we potentially win the SB this year ( or next year).
We definitely have an offense capable of the SB….now, about that defense…
