GameDay Tampa Bay

Game 8

Bucs (5-2) at Slimy Saints (1-6)

Kickoff: 4:05 p.m.

TV: FOX (WTVT-TV Channel 13, locally) Kenny Albert, Jonatha Vilma and Megan Olivi. For a national TV map of where the game will be broadcast via your local FOX affiliate, click here.

Streaming: FOX One, NFL+. (Geographic restrictions may apply; subscription may be required).

Radio: Buccaneers Radio Network WXTB-FM 97.9 in the Tampa-St. Petersburg region (Transmisiones de radio en español en WTMP-FM 96.1 y WMGG-AM 1470 en Tampa). Additional stations throughout Florida on the Buccaneers Radio Network can be found here. The game will also be broadcast on SiriusXM Channel 382 (Buccaneers Radio Network feed).

Weather: There may not be a better NFL tailgate town than New Orleans. World-class eateries and world-class grub. Bourbon Street is within walking distance of Lincoln’s Tomb, the home of the slimy Saints. This town is just awesome for tailgating. And the weather this weekend has been very cooperative. Temperatures have been perfect but clouds and rain floated in Saturday. Warm in the day, cool at night but just warm enough to be comfortable in shorts. Per AccuWeather.com, tailgaters who start in the late morning will be met with temperatures in the mid-70s. It’ll gently rise to 80 by kickoff.  There is a 60 percent chance of rain late this morning and the rain chances will increase as kickoff approaches. After the game, as fans roll back to the French Quarter, temperatures will be in the mid-70s with a 50/50 chance of rain. Showers should move out of the area in the early evening, hopefully as Bucs fans are still celebrating another win in a city that never stops partying.

Odds: Per Hard Rock Bet, as of Saturday, Bucs -3 (-115); over/under 46.5 (-110); moneyline -210.

Referees: Ron Torbert and his gang will work today’s Bucs-Saints game. Torbert and his outfit are known for having sore shoulders after each game because they are so flag-happy. Torbert and his outfit average 16 penalties a game. Four flags a quarter — average! When is the NFL going to figure out fans do not watch games for penalties? The NFL wants to grow the game overseas so much but cricket is more entertaining than watching some high school principal throwing yellow hankies.  Some 56 percent of the home teams in games Torbert and his posse have worked have won.

Injuries:

(The NFL does not include players on injury reports who are not on a team’s active 53-man roster. Players on injured reserve or the practice squad are not on a team’s active 53-man roster.)

Outlook: This Joe isn’t worried about this game. The Bucs’ offense will get better. This is a team against which the Bucs can get the offense right after it went off the rails in Detroit. Simply put, the slimy Saints defense sucks. That’s all there is to it. They cannot stop drives consistently at all and they give up big plays on their side of the field. If the Bucs can put up 38 points on the Seahawks playing clear across the country, and can ring up 30 points on Mr. Clean’s defense with the 49ers, they can put up at least 28 points today on this ole slimy Saints defense. Joe has no problem with the Bucs defense. The Bucs on the road last week held Detroit to 24 points and locked them down in the second half. The Lions offense is far, far superior to New Orleans’. Bucs fans will be celebrating to good live music, superior grub and fine cocktails in the French Quarter tonight. Believe it.

Fun facts: The Bucs have won five of the last six games against the slimy Saints. … Bucs QB Baker Mayfield loves to play in New Orleans. In both of his NFL starts at New Orleans, Mayfield has had at least three touchdown passes. He currently has a five-game streak of two-or-more touchdown passes against the slimy Saints. … RB Rachaad White has 65+ scrimmage yards in three of his past four games against the slimy Saints. Since 2022, White and Christian McCaffrey are the only running backs with 150 receptions and at least 10 touchdown catches since White was drafted in 2022. … WR Emeka Egbuka leads all rookies in receiving yards (527) and touchdown catches (5). Is third overall in receptions (31). … TE Cade Otton looks for his fourth-straight game with at least 50 yards receiving. … ILB Lavonte David has a tackle in six games this season. … OLB YaYa Diaby looks for his third-straight game with a sack. … In his last three games in New Orleans, S Antoine Winfield has a fumble recovery, including a scoop-and-score last year. …  Slimy Saints QB Spencer Rattler has been pretty solid of late. In his last three starts at home, Rattler has four touchdowns without a pick. … With two more catches, RB Alvin Kamara will have 600 for his career. … WR Chris Olave had five catches for 98 yards last week. He is looking for his fifth consecutive home game with five catches. … LB Demario Davis had 10 tackles last week, his 39th-career game with at least 10 tackles. … DE Mouthy Cam Jordan had a pick last year in a Bucs blowout in New Orleans. … CB Kool-Aid McKinstry had his fifth pass defensed and second tackle for loss of the season last week.

Bucs should win this game, however I am more worried now about the refs being “flag happy” and possibly against the Bucs. Unfortunately, some of us worry about the refs weekly now. The Bucs can win this and rest for a week. Go Bucs!

I hate watching games with Jonathan Vilma in the booth

This has all the markings of a “let down game” before the bye week. I hope they aren’t looking at next week instead of being fired up for this week. Baker started it up early in the week, but haven’t heard much since.

So the one positive thing about the slimy saints are the cheerleaders are hot. This reminds me if an NCAA Tournament game where my Alma Mater Xavier University of Cincinnati played the FSU Seminoles,at the Orlando Magic arena. We killed the Seminoles on the court. But the,FSU cherleaders destroyed the,Xavier cheerleaders. The FSU girls basically imitated the Laker dancers, and were, all skimpy slutted out. Meanwhile the Xavier girls looked all 1958 all over again with a nun walking, around with a ruler to.make, sure the skirts were not too short. I recall going by the,FSU section after Xavier had run up huge lead, and put the game out of reach and yelled “Your cheerleaders kick.our cheerleaders, asses”. They got the joke and laughed..

@heyjude, you’re not the only one watching out for the refs. Hope the guys dedicate this one to Big ME13. I’ll have it on my usual gang at Bucs Radio. @Marky mark, great story. Go Bucs!!
