Father Time Sacks The Bucs

October 20th, 2025

Bucs fans were painfully forced to watch franchise legend Mike Evans, the 32-year-old Hall of Fame receiver, struggle to walk off the field tonight with a broken collarbone and a head injury.

Minutes later, 31-year-old Haason Reddick was peeled off the turf and taken to the locker room on a cart, which likely drove by hobbled Chris Godwin watching on the sidelines.

It’s been a very rough season for the old Bucs. And Joe has very little hope of any of them bouncing back strong in 2025.

Reddick hasn’t done much, so Joe’s not sure whether he qualifies for a bounceback. Perhaps it’s still the Jets’ fault?

Joe would love to be a fly on the wall of Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht’s office this week. The Bucs need receiver help and the NFL trade deadline is Nov. 4.

Sure, one could argue the Bucs don’t need the receiver help and Evans and Godwin probably will return late in the season. But Joe’s goal is a top seed, not just making it to the postseason and hoping for the best.

An MVP quarterback needs weapons to be an MVP. The Bucs probably need to find one in a hurry.

An edge rusher would be nice but, well, receiver is probably much more important given the Bucs’ history.

The only time I heard Reddicks name was when the said he was injured and left the field. Other than that I wouldn’t have known he was on the field.

  2. BUC4L Says:

Naw we have the WRs we need more dline and LB help. Go make a trade for something Licht. You can do it! Go Bucs!

  3. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We are fortunate to have a shot of youth….Egbuka, Tez, JMac & Bucky…and a few on defense, Morrison, Tykee, Zion & Parrish..

  4. Captahab100 Says:

The Mayfield MVP talk will calm down after his poor performance tonight. How many open receivers did he overthrow. He’s been amazing until tonight, not a good game by Mayfield.

  5. Greg Says:

Enough with the MVP stuff, especially after tonight!

  6. DBS Says:

Don’t think Licht will do anything. It will remain a run what you brung season.

  7. Nate1976 Says:

I wish we would’ve got George Pickens

  8. Oregon Buc Says:

Time to trade with Arizona for Marvin Harrison Jr

  9. SBucs Says:

Bubba Jason is not aware the Bucs have personnel issues.

  10. Frank Pillow Says:

How bad does that meaningless preseason injury to McMillan look now?

  11. Brad Says:

A swing tackle instead of a swinging door at RT would probably help the most.

  12. Nicholas Carlson Says:

WRs are coming back. Keep the picks or get a real pass rusher.

  13. Oneilbuc Says:

It’s time to move on from Mike.

  14. Captahab100 Says:

Mike came to play, caught most everything thrown his way.

  15. Pelsbuc61 Says:

Pass rusher please!!!!!! And start Dion Jones instead of Dennis!

  16. Chipbuc Says:

More than anything they need 2 veteran offensive linemen to protect mayfield from the harassment he endured tonight. A linebacker also wouldn’t hurt.

We take for granted Evans’ longevity and consistency. Football Gods may have said we gave ya the record breaker last season…but you’re on your own now.

I don’t expect Godwin back in any meaningful capacity either. He’s clearly hobbled and nowhere near ready for live action anytime soon. Credit to him for pushing himself so hard though.

  19. HeartyDickerson Says:

So by Nov. 4th, this incredibly deep, talent-rich, Superbowl-bound team only needs to trade for a WR, MLB, OLB and OT? Got it.

  20. Scott Says:

They should not let Dean walk. Seems like we always lose good corners.

  21. Anon Says:

Biggest need that is realistic to improve is a Guard. They can’t continue with the Jordan/Hagrid/Klein/whatever nonsense. Especially when they have to be next to Heck.

  22. Bosch Says:

It was blatant less interfence on the Lions. Still, wide receivers are landing on their shoulder with defenders draped on them all the time. What made this an injury? Sort of reminds me of Kancy ‘s pec.. it was just an ordinary tackle.

  23. SlyPirate Says:

    0.01% Chance of a Trade

don’t expect any changes or at lease any meaningful trades. In his entire career Licht has acquired 1 player in a mid-season trade.

    Steve McLendon – 2020

  24. Tony Says:

I had Egbuka for OROTY before the season even started. He was pretty much gonna have to go in & start right away with all the WRs hurt & he’s definitely gonna be counted on now with Evans gonna be out now. It really wouldn’t surprise me if both Evans & Godwin really did consider retiring after this year. They’re constantly injured now.

  25. J Says:

Resigning Godwin was a gamble that we should’ve passed on. The injury was just too severe for him to return to his old glory anytime soon.

  26. Davenport Says:

We’re witnessing the final year for Mike in Tampa.

He’s now an injury prone, old receiver and his next Bucs contract should reflect that but another team will over pay.

  27. heyjude Says:

Mike will be back. He has come back many times and will not want to leave as injured. He doesn’t give up.

  28. Defense Rules Says:

Joe … ‘But Joe’s goal is a top seed, not just making it to the postseason and hoping for the best.’

All Bucs’ fans are probably hoping for the same thing Joe (a top seed), but even with a 5-2 record that looks to be very wishful thinking. I’m more concerned now with us even making the playoffs. We’ve still got 5 division games to go, and in case no one’s noticed, Atlanta & Carolina are each only 1 loss behind us. And both of them look to be in a LOT better physical condition right now than we are.

Bucs’ offense has sustained some unthinkable losses: Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Jalen McMillan, Bucky Irving, Luke Goedeke, Cody Mauch. That’s 6 key players right there who’ve missed half the season or more to this point, and will surely miss a lot more. Our losses aren’t nearly as bad on defense (Calijah Kancey, JJ Roberts, David Walker), but the reality IMO is that our defense isn’t nearly as robust as our offense. Virtually every defensive position group needs ‘beefing up’.

Bucs have 10 games left, and winning 6 of those, even with a badly depleted roster, SHOULD be feasible. That’d put us at 11-6 and HOPEFULLY allow us to win the NFC South. The playoffs are a whole different ballgame as we saw in 2020 … anything can happen.

  29. BIGBUCFAN90 Says:

Reddicks best play was when he pushed the lineman into Goff and Dean picked it off. Other than that he’s been alright, but we need to be better off the edge. The Bucs defense came to play tonight which is what we’ve been waiting for. If it wasn’t for them we get blown out. Baker will bounce back and we will be fine, we need to have faith in the rookies. If anything we could go get Lockett

  30. Gofortheface30 Says:

“We have receivers coming back.” – says a commenter. Nice man. Who? You mean like Chris Godwin? Who promptly got hurt his first game back? You mean like Mike Evans? Who couldn’t even make it a HALF? You DO know Jalen McMillan isn’t coming back anytime soon right? I swear you guys show more loyalty to guys you do not know than to your own wives. It’s incredible. If you think a continuing revolving door is sustainable then that’s delusional at best. Fans are worse than players than knowing when it’s time to move on, it’s quite incredible – and even advocate cutting nose despite face by handing out legacy contracts that does nothing more than to stunt the future of the team and you buy in to the notion that optics somehow galvanizes the locker room

Welcome to 1 Buc Place. Home of the elderly and affirmed.

  32. KABucs Says:

If Evans wants to, he can easily come back from this. A broken clavicle is pretty common. Aside from broken fingers, it’s one of the most commonly broken bones. I’ve had my clavicle broken and it’s not that big a deal. He’s definitely not playing this season and not sure if he’ll be back for the playoffs or not but he could play next year if he actually wants to enough. It’s up to him.

  33. FairMinded Says:

Convert Watson to Oline where we need the help. Right now I feel like the WR’s we have need more reps and targets. Young, healthy and fast. Where were the Kam Johnson and Ryan Miller targets? They took out Egbuka from the game plan so those guys needed touches. We threw over 50 times and ran 11 or 12. Never a good sign. Grizzard will learn from this one. We’ll be alright

  34. Capt.Tim Says:

    Watched the game again.
    Biggest problem was the Oline.
Aiden Hutchinson owned Wirfs, Heck.Bredeson , and company.
We missed a lot of our wounded last night,
But none more than Mauch and Goedeke.

Couldn’t run, no time to pass.
Our line let Mayfield take a beating last night.
We can’t afford another game like that. Mayfield is the one loss we can’t work around.especially with all of our starting WRs sitting on the sideline.

  35. BUDLIKEDTHEBUCS Says:

i mean heck what can you do but i will say i have never seen this many injuries to major players to one team/ one season
