Charlie Heck Wins Two Awards

October 31st, 2025

Congrats to Bucs backup offensive lineman Charlie Heck, who is currently starting at right tackle. He’s not receiving an honor from JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters, but he is getting two from more impressive sources.

On The Rondé Barber Show this week, Barber and legendary Bucs linebacker Lavonte David lauded Heck on the WFLA-TV streaming platform.

Barber and David handed out some midseason honors and Heck won “Surprise Player” from Barber, and the “Next Man Up” honor from his teammate.

“Charlie stepped up and has been holding his own, man,” David said of Heck’s work replacing stud right tackle Luke Goedeke. “You know, all those guys, there’s been a lot of moving parts across the offensive line, but Charlie’s been the main piece holding it down for the guys. I love to see what he’s doing.”

Barber noted that “everybody expected [Heck] to get beat every single snap.”

That obviously didn’t materialize, per Barber because “I don’t ever hear his name.”

Joe is pleased by how Heck settled down after his debut nightmare in Houston. But Joe would leave it right there. He’s done a decent job, and that’s probably Heck’s ceiling — for a journeyman player who turns 29 in a few weeks.

  2. Aqualung Says:

Best Pinyatta since Kenyatta. Has a nice ring to it.

  3. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

Charlie Heck’s play is like our 6-2 record. If you told me this is what is going to happen to your favorite team and RT, and after 8 games here is the result. Are you OK with that?

    Yep

  4. Lightningvinny1 Says:

Can he play RG when Luke gets back??

  5. NDog is an IDIOT Says:

    What the Heck Ronde!!!??

  6. LJ Says:

Against Detroit he gave up the most pressures of any lineman in the NFL in a game this year.

  7. 813bucboi Says:

Heck has been doing a decent/good job imo….

the problem with our oline is our LG, C, RG….thats where we’re getting whipped

    6-2!!!

    GO BUCS!!!

  8. Beeej Says:

Well, 2 penalties, 3 sacks, 32 pressures. His pff has crept into the mid 40’s

  9. Stpetematt Says:

We REALLY NEED to make a trade and pick up a right guard. Zeitler or Teller are great choices.

  10. buc4evr Says:

Heck pushed Tucker in the end zone when Tucker was getting stopped last week, so I have to give him some respect. Still need help on the o line.

  11. Trey Says:

It’s not been Charlie that’s been the problem this year. It’s the entire interior of the offensive line. Which really confuses me.

  12. Gipper Says:

Elijah Klein at RG. Why are they waiting around to run him out there?

Guess you missed when he did play.

  14. ocala Says:

Heck has done a decent enough job for the Bucs to offer him a slightly above minimum contract during the offseason. Huge difference when Goedeke is in there though, but he is one of the top right tackles in the NFL.

Cool – so when is Goedeke coming back….

    Joe,
No, I saw him in briefly earlier in season. He looked big and burly. Not sure why his tenure was so short? What do you know?

  17. PSL Bob Says:

Prior to the season, the guys over on SeriusXM NFL Radio gave the Bucs o-line a relatively low score. They really liked the starters, but the backups had zero experience. So, that brought the overall score down. Won’t be able to do that next year. The Bucs will probably have the most experienced backup o-linemen in the league.

Go watch what happened when he was in the game. That’s all you need to know.

  19. SlyPirate Says:

    Meh … No.

The OL was exposed against the Saints. Could they have been worse? Yes. So, is that a win?

  20. Kayla Says:

Heck’s playing a lot better than our former swing tackle Skule is in Minnesota. He’s helped get two QBs beat down, if not hurt. Watch the tape!

  21. Matt Says:

Maybe you wonder if 50% of playing Online is who tries the hardest about given day.

  22. mj Says:

his trip was the best no call!!
