Bucs Outpacing Legendary Teams Of Franchise’s Past

October 26th, 2025

Historic season coming?

Holy smokes, Joe’s eyes damn near bugged out when researching this.

The Bucs are now 6-2. Joe might have to find a place open late on a Sunday night in the French Quarter to have a cocktail. Pretty sure such a watering hole exists there, right?

If any Bucs fan was told back in August the Bucs would only have two losses at the bye, the halfway point of the season, folks would have accused Joe of being drunk.

No one dreamed that. Well, maybe they did. But here the Bucs are, 6-2 and way ahead in the NFC South race with a two-game lead over the Stinking Panthers.

The Dixie Chicks? Ah… hahahahahha.

Anyway, Joe did some research.

The 1999 Bucs that went to the NFC title game were 2-3 entering their bye week.

In 2002, when Chucky came aboard and the Bucs eventually won the Super Bowl, the Bucs were 7-2 at the bye.

In 2020, the Bucs, then coached by Bucco Bruce Arians, were 7-5 at their bye.

The 1979 Bucs that went to the NFC title game did not have a bye week but did have a bye week in the playoffs as a result of winning the old NFC Central.

Should be a fun next couple of months.

I WANT TO KNOW WHY BOWLES DID NOT CHALLENGE THE BAD CALLS ! WAKE UP BOWLES !!!

  3. Panhandle Buc Says:

I had us at 5-3 before the bye, so pretty close! 12-5 is my preseason prediction. This team needs to get healthy and work on that playcalling on offense!!

  4. Aqualung Says:

Tightening up the D gives Aqualung the warms.

2020 team was 7-5 entering the bye. Went undefeated after that. You did multiple articles talking about how that bye week changed so much about that that season. How do you forget that? Not sure what you’re seeing. –Joe

I wanted Bowles to challenge the call to but the way the refs were in someone’s pocket

Defense stood up and is starting to play championship ball!!!!!

    GO BUCS

Eating crow stew should make you warm squid mouth!!!!!!!!

    6-2!!!!

    GO BUCS

    @Les

You can’t challenge a play when the play is whistled dead. Winfield got robbed twice of TDs, but both times the zebras claimed a whistle was blown. Not challenge-able.

Have read a lot about the offense being bad today, and it was. It looked to me like they were trying to play not to get hurt going into the bye week, or maybe hurt worse than they already are and we don’t know about. Glad to come out with the W and time to heal. Go play with the kids and dogs and relax

Combine Liam Coen’s 2024 offense with today’s defense the Bucs would be hoisting another Lombardi trophy.

Lmao!!! Historic first round of playoff ceiling.

  12. David Says:

They are right where I thought they would be. I assumed they would lose 2 of the 4 between eagles, lions, Seattle, San Fran.
I also assume they will lose either Bills or Rams and a division game.
    13-4
At worst I thought 12–5 with one other team sneaking up on them, New England is now looking very tough.

Either way, they are poised to come back, start getting healthy and getting on a run.

  13. Buddha Says:

Liam Coen had Bucky and 5 healthy offensive lineman and still managed a mid season swoon.
