Bucky Irving Expected To Miss 49ers Game, Too

October 5th, 2025

Bucs RB Bucky Irving.

This comes straight from the Twitter of uber NFL insider Adam Schefter.

The BSPNer has the lowdown on the shoulder and foot injuries of Bucs running back Bucky Irving. Yes, the foot is an issue, Schefter typed, but it is Bucky’s shoulder that is the big issue.

Per Schefter, Irving suffered the injury at some point prior to Tuesday of last week and Bucky never told the Bucs about the shoulder injury until Tuesday. Schefter was not specific with a timetable.

This mysterious shoulder injury is expected to sideline Bucky for at least two games, which puts him on the shelf for the San Francisco game a week from today in Tampa.

It is weird that Bucky never told the Bucs about a serious(?) injury. Maybe he just felt he could play through it. Or did Bucky hurt his shoulder in the final minutes of the loss to the Eagles?

Rest him, let white and Tucker handle it for now.

  2. Lt. Dan Says:

    Perfect. (sarcasm) Stupid injuries.

  3. Nicholas Carlson Says:

Was it the hospital ball Baker threw him in the flat last week?

  4. Simeon4HOF Says:

Np with Bucky getting rest it’s a long season.
We’ll be healthy for the cakewalk

  5. BucfaninMi Says:

    The annual losing streak pending?

  6. Josh Says:

Hunt was fined $6,834 for a hip-drop tackle on Bucs running back Bucky Irving midway through the third quarter. He also jarred the football loose on the play and it was recovered by cornerback Kelee Ringo at the Tampa Bay 25-yard line. Should have been a penalty and no fumble. Bucs win right there…

  7. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Not saying this is a good thing, but I rather see a RB have a shoulder injury than an ankle injury.

  8. Fred McNeil Says:

I love Bucky’s grit, but we have 2 other good backs. We will be ok. Hey, I get a chance to see Sean Tucker get a good number of totes for a change. Rest up Bucky.

  9. jcscycles Says:

Partial dislocation. Lucky it wasn’t worse.

And what’s with the “hospital ball” stuff? This is football – injuries are just bad luck.

We are lucky enough to have plenty of good running backs. Bucky is good, but he isn’t Derrick Henry. Please Grizz – use him like Coen did!

  10. Boomer Says:

Good thing we have a deep running back room.
Hopefully Griz understands he’s gotta utilize all the running backs.

  11. heyjude Says:

Bucky needs to rehab now. The game with the Lions is a Monday night. This gives him a lot of time to heal and let the others take the charge. ❤️🏈

  12. Letsbuccingo Says:

Offense in trouble give Tucker some reps instead of two yards and fall down White

  13. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

We’re deep at RB. Thankfully this isn’t serious.

  14. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Just pull Tucker off ST. Please.

  15. unbelievable Says:

@Josh – the refs have been effing us extra hard this season.

It’s clear the NFL does NOT want the Bucs to succeed this year. Officiating has been insanely lopsided. When even the broadcasters are calling it out, you know it’s bad.

  16. HC Grover Says:

Thisn is not good. He gets points. Breaking Bad.

  17. HC Grover Says:

Carolina Shrimps Shrimping out. Good thing we got rid of up the gut Canles.

  18. Bakerfan Says:

All on Grizz for trying to make him a work horse instead of the thoroughbred he is.

  19. Woodman Says:

That’s it show your an idiot buccingo thinking Tucker is better. White is the much better back what has Tucker done been here 3 years now check your sheet .

  20. Jim in AR Says:

Bakerfan, I struggle to understand why this on Grizz. There is no evidence these injuries are due to being over worked. A hip-drop and a shoulder injury aren’t related to work load.

  21. Woodman Says:

Oh buy the way Josh Williams is going to be better than Tucker.

  22. Jim in AR Says:

Correction: An foot injury cause by a hip-drop tackle…

  23. Dom Says:

The Bucs have been over working Bucky. He’s been getting 20+ touches a game. He’s too small to have that big of a work load week in and week out. We have a talented RB room. Use it. I don’t get what it’s going to take for this coaching staff to realize the season is a marathon

  24. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“I struggle to understand why this on Grizz. There is no evidence these injuries are due to being over worked. A hip-drop and a shoulder injury aren’t related to work load.“

Outside of OL & DL, the RB position gets beat up on the most and the more you play the more contact you take, the higher the risk of your body failing you in some capacity. This isn’t some mystery of life, it’s football and a big reason why pretty much all of NFL teams commit 1-2 RBs (and a mobile QB) to prop up their rushing attack. When your top 2 RBs have a ton of combined starts and both provide something different than the other, you use them both. Crazy concept huh?

  25. passabuc Says:

Second year with the Bucs second year injured.

Maybe the Buc’s understand that at 192 lbs he is not a RB that can handle 25-30 touches a Game.

This is why I said they need to hang on to white

  26. heyjude Says:

The entire league has injuries. It isn’t only the Bucs.

  27. orlbucfan Says:

Hey Josh, that fine is spare change for Hunt. Wonder how much coin was slipped to the zebs? I like pro football, but the corruption/money is god is waaaay past its due date.

  28. heyjude Says:

orlbucfan – Hoping the officiating is better than it has been today.

  29. Dr. Bucenstein Says:

We should have been using all 3. Backs the 1st 4 games. We can’t over use Bucky especially when our o line was not healthy. Get better soon Bucky, the other backs will have to carry the load

  30. Dr. Bucenstein Says:

We should have been using all 3. Backs the 1st 4 games. We can’t over use Bucky especially when our o line was not healthy. Get better soon

  31. Todd Says:

Bucky is just too diminutive to be a bellcow back in the NFL. Love his heart , but it is reminiscent of what happened to Tarik Cohen of the Chicago Bears about 7 years ago-incredible talent, but just could not take the hits at a high number every week. Grizz needs to be more RB by committee or Bucky will be out of the league in 2 or 3 years , it is just simple physics.

  32. Canabuc Says:

Bucky is best handling 15 to 18 touches a game.

  33. Canabuc Says:

He isn’t built to be a feature back but lightning of a thunder lightning combo.

That is why White last year was so valuable. Saved a lot of wear on Bucky.
Hope we resign him. He can catch is capable rummer and our best pass blocking back.
