BSPN: Very Strong Odds Bucs Make The Playoffs

October 22nd, 2025

“Did you see this on the four-letter’s website, Mr. Glazer?”

The BSPN numberscrunchers, bean counters and dweebs who program software were not phased by the Bucs losing to the Lions on Monday night.

In fact, the BSPN crowd has the Bucs with a 91 percent chance of making the playoffs, the highest of any team in the NFC.

Either BSPN thinks the Bucs will survive the loss of Mike Evans or they have no respect for the rest of the NFC South.

This is slightly surprising to Joe since that outfit has for years has tried to elevate the Dixie Chicks as one of the NFL power teams. It gets old, man.

It also appears BSPN doesn’t think a whole lot of the NFC in general. Looking at their percentages for teams to reach the Super Bowl from the NFC, the Packers, Rams, Eagles, Bucs and Lions are all separated by three percentage points.

Of course they’re making the playoffs. They only need to be .500 to hit 10 wins.

  2. 813BUCBOI Says:

BUCS will make the playoffs and do damage…

    Rams look dominate imo….

Still a ton of football left…1 game at a time!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  3. Allen Lofton Says:

BSPN could stand for nothing but BS reporting. I’m not sure what their agenda is but accuracy is not one of their priorities.

  4. Oscar Says:

If they believe the AFC is better boy are they stupid. The best team in the AFC are the Colts right now but they have had a very soft schedule so far and it continues this week against the Titans. In the end I think the Chiefs will be the best team in the AFC. The Bills are really struggling and the Ravens are almost done and the Steelers and Chargers and Broncos are all middling at best although the Broncos will get better as the season goes on. The Patriots have a good coach and great young QB but so far have had a soft schedule also.
The NFC has multiple strong teams that are more than middling in the Lions, Packers, Eagles, Rams, Bucs and Seahawks. 49ers can’t sustain their success because of the injuries on defense.IMO

  5. gbobucsfan Says:

    NO – W
    NE – W
    Buff – L
    LA – L
    AZ – W
    NO – W
    ATL – L
    Car – L
    Mia – W
    Car – W

That’s 11 wins and should be good enough for playoffs. Panthers still have GB, sea, buff, rams and us 2x. ATL has colts, sea and rams. Getcha popcorn ready!!!

  6. Smarter than Joe Says:

Beat the Aints TWICE, Carolina TWICE and beat AZ and it gets them to 10 wins.

That should be enough to be either a 7 seed or the Division

    ATL still plays
    Colts
Panthers who’ve beaten them more often than Todd Blows can
    Seahawks
    Rams
    Patriots

  7. MikeBuc Says:

Losing Mike is tough BUT on the bright side. QB1 has had some of his best games when the ball had no preferences.

P.S. time to call up Greene? hopefully he has been progressing since his decent preseason?

  8. Joe Sea Says:

I think the NFC percentages just mean they think there are a lot of good teams in the NFC. Which is bourne out by the current standings. So many 5-2 teams in the NFC right now.

  9. PSL Bob Says:

I’ve predicted a 12 win season, and I’m sticking with it. One game at a time. Let’s just take care of business this week in NO then go to the bye at 6-2. We’ll be fine. Hopefully, Bucky and Egbuka will be ready for the Patriots game at Ray Jay on Nov 9th.

  10. DailyRich Says:

We’ve gone 5-2 with Evans contributing all of 140 yards and 1 TD. I don’t know why people think we’re suddenly sunk without him.

  11. Winny Testaverde Says:

Let’s see how they bounce back vs The Taints on Sunday. A loss could begin a death spiral…a solid victory going into the bye and they can completely turn the page on The Detroit Lions/Hussey’s.

Each Super Season had brutal losses…2002 Eagles ( Lions game felt similar ) & Steelers and somehow two to The Taints

2020-Taints, Bears in prime time and Taints again in primetime.

Let’s see how resilient this team is…

  12. DailyRich Says:

We’ve also never won a Super Bowl in a season where we didn’t get swept by the Saints in the regular season….

  13. kirk Says:

I have been reading this site for some time, what is BSPN?

  14. Baking with Grizz Says:

Joe thinks ESPN is a bunch of BS. = BSPN

  15. Jerseybuc Says:

    Must win Sunday!!
Bucs are the way better team and gotta come back from that Monday thumping.
Go into the bye 6-2 get healthy.

  16. View from 132 Says:

MAKE the playoffs is not a successful season. Raise the bar. NFC Championship at a minimum or its a lost year.

  17. Lightningvinny1 Says:

12-5 is doable ,,, need a W this weekend for that to happen though

  18. adam from ny Says:

    if the playoffs started today…

    i heard……heard……i can’y guarantee the statement…

but it has been said we would play detroit…at ray jay…go figure

  19. eoschwartz Says:

Making playoffs isn’t enough, getting to the NFC Championship game is the goal. The Lions and Eagles losses will potentially hurt the Bucs in head to head if the 3 of them win their division’s and all have the same record.

Losing to those teams was a big loss and in each game the defenses of the Lions and the Eagles showed how physical they could be vs. Bucs offense.

Unfortunately the Bucs defense doesn’t bring the kind of toughness that Phila and Detroit have. If somehow Green Bay can overtake the Lions I like that matchup as other than Parsons the Packers don’t have anyone as beastly as Carter on the Eagles or Hutchinson on Detroit. Those are guys that play all out and can destroy a weak tackle like Beck.

In a rematch I believe the Bucs know enough about Philly or Detroit to make adjustments and negate some of their offenses or big plays.

What worries me most about the Bucs is how soft they start out games defensively, missing tackles and allowing short passes to the edge or middle of field to 15-20 yard chunks plays. Then you see the offense at start sputtering. That falls on the coaches for not being prepared with an attacking game plan to execute some early drives. Most first quarter starts the Bucs only hold the ball for 4-5 minutes of Q-1.

If Goedke, McMillan and Irvin can return and not get injured again you have to think that this offense can begin to show more consistency and bigger plays from the start of the games. That will even out some of the deficiencies on the Bucs defense.

    GO BUCS!!!!!

Tampa Bay has 10 games left. The Bye is finally coming. The season is not even half over! This NOLA game is following the Philly-Seattle pattern. Bucs lost to Eaglets, and beat Seattle (no cupcake) in Seattle. NOLA wishes it was the Seahawks. Cheatin’ Payton is history. Bucs need to win now for Big Mike. These players know it. Big win coming Sunday. ME13 will be watching his buds and rooting for them in bed. I had a broken collarbone 25 years ago. No fun, and they can’t splint them. Go Mighty Bucs for Big Mike!! Get even!! And make the refs look like the stupid bought-off ninnys they are. 6-2 at the Bye!!

  22. Fred McNeil Says:

It seems every 5-2 team has laid at least 1 egg so far. NOLO “should” be a a win even if they play us tough. A lot of us were guessing in the preseason we would be 4-4 at the bye because of the row of stretch of tough wins we’ve just finished. That game was a combo of us being a little bedraggled and flat against a team that was simply rarin’ to go. We played the Eagles, Seahawks, 49ers, and Lions the last 4 weeks and we went 2-2 during a time when half our star players were in rehab. It’ll get better after the bye.

  23. Fred McNeil Says:

Has Hall been playing recently? I don’t recall either noticing him or hearing his name this year.

  24. Fred McNeil Says:

Nor Brasswell, but I don’t think he gets many snaps.

  25. Tye Says:

Looking at the remainder of the schedule the Bucs should make the playoffs…
Likely very strong odds the Bucs are 1 and done in the playoffs!

  26. Jeff Says:

Not so sure about that. 50/50 chance at this point. OC’s been figured out. Bowles is still clueless. Evans career is over. Godwin may never play again. RT is in bad shape. Folks, this team is toast.

  27. BucU Says:

CBS reporting that Bucky Irving will NOT play in week 8.

  28. Gipper Says:

Want to see Eliajah Klein at RG and Payne Durham helping Heck full time. That will free up Otton to catch passes underneath or in the flat. Until and if Goedeke gets back, that has to be the way to fix a lot of offense problems.

  29. Outrigger Says:

Completely agree with gbobucsfan. I’m predicting losses to Buffalo, Rams, Falcons and at Panthers, getting them to 11-6. 12-5 still a possibility depending how long it takes to get Goedeke, Bucky and Godwin back (hopefully it’s right after the bye). Wondering if JMac will be back this year since he’s still wearing a neck brace 10 weeks after injuring his neck.

  30. Rod Munch Says:

Agree with gbobucsfan – people who think we’re sweeping the .500 Panthers because they had a bad record in prior years, and those are automatic W’s, you’re not paying attention. I thought going into the year we’d end up splitting those games.

The game I’d really worry about is NE, they’re playing great, it’s going to be a very tough game – in fact I think the Bucs have a better chance of beating Buffalo than NE.

But everything just comes down to Baker. If we get the ‘MVP’ Baker, then we’re competing for the top seed, if we get the QB that showed up vs the Lions, the Bucs are missing the playoffs. While I’m not a Baker Boi, I still don’t think we’ll see a repeat of that awful Lions performance again for a while, and they should be fine to at least get in. And once you’re in, if Baker is hot, then the team can go far.

  31. JimBobBuc Says:

Rat poison. Any given Sunday. The Panthers and Falcons are decent this year and can beat the Bucs if we don’t come to play.

  32. LakelandSteve Says:

If we aren’t careful the Saints will beat us Sunday. They are going to take the Lions game plan and try to put a ton of pressure on Mayfield. Look for a bunch of 5 and 6 man pressures. We have to be able to run the ball effectively and at least make them worry about the run. That way we aren’t having to pass on every down and they can just tee off on Baker

  33. orlbucfan Says:

Bucs will finish with an 11-6 record at the worse. Whether that wins the Division again, so what? If Atlanta or Panthers do it, good for them. Why are we even rapping about all this when our Bucs are not halfway through the regular season? You know, I can read, and I’m educated to know the fakes from the genuine fans. Tired of the fakes, but SOP. Bucs will win cos of Big Mike. That crooked nonsense that injured him should not be tolerated and won’t. For years, I have raved about the Bucs beating both the refs and opposing team. I’ve been right. The team has to be prepared for both. If they are, they will win. I sure would love a wipeout Sunday, but a win is good enough. Go Mighty Bucs for Big Mike!! 6-2 sure works for the Bye.

Look we have 2 losses, Detroit is one of the top teams in the NFC we lost at their place with a beat up team, and we ran out of time against Philly ( I believe if that game has 2 more minutes we win that game) The Super Bowl champs and another top team in the conference. We sure look like a credible playoff contender to me.
