Bruce Arians Says Liam Coen Is Leading Coach Of The Year Candidate, Not Todd Bowles
October 3rd, 2025
“That’s what you get for firing Byron.”
Joe is feeling the irony.
Former Bucs offensive coordinator Liam Coen, El Serpiente, slithered out of One Buc Palace for mega milions in January to become Jaguars head coach — after promising the Bucs he would sign a fat new contract to stay on his Tampa Bay job.
Reports claimed mild-mannered Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht was infuriated. Licht himself later acknowledged he had to “heal” from the experience.
Licht’s current senior advisor, legendary ex-Buc head coach Bucco Bruce Arians, always prides himself as a massive loyalty guy, so Joe assumes Arians was outraged, too.
Nowadays, when he’s not collecting a check to advise Licht, Arians is a weekly in-studio guest on The Pat McAfee Show on ESPN TV. And Arians found 20 minutes this week to share with Kay Adams of Up & Adams on FanDuel TV.
There, Adams asked Arians to pick his top NFL Coach of the Year candidate through four games. Arians chose Coen, citing his prowess at crafting a run game and how he’s gotten Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence on the right track.
The Jaguars won four games last year and have a 3-1 record. The Bucs are also 3-1, winning despite an absolute mountain of injuries, yet Arians picked Coen over his handpicked successor, Todd Bowles.
It’s not the first time Arians has shared his mancrush for Coen.
Last season, Arians was hanging out with Barstool Gambling and gushed about Coen, saying he’s never seen a new offensive coordinator install his own system and average 30 points a game.
Joe thinks Bowles could/should be a Coach of the Year candidate if his Bucs can navigate through all these injuries and find their way to an 11-win season. That starts by avoiding the midseason nosedive that’s plagued the Bucs the past two seasons.
October 3rd, 2025 at 10:41 am
And here is where Bruce and I disagree.
October 3rd, 2025 at 10:43 am
It’s a damn shame the Bucs didn’t have the balls to make LC the HC. He’s dominating with inferior talent. Imagine what he would have done for the Bucs.
October 3rd, 2025 at 10:45 am
Pretty sure there were fans on this forum wanting Bowles fired last year and replaced with Coen. We know what we get from Bowles. Hopefully Bowles doesn’t have his usual mid season slump.
October 3rd, 2025 at 10:50 am
Haha can of worms officially opened lol
I can’t speak to how things went down but the choice between a young proven playcalling savant who paired perfectly with the QBs identity vs extending Bowles in his sixties should have been an easy decision
Todd could have been bumped to passing game/special teams consultant getting paid millions with his old pal here we go 3-5
October 3rd, 2025 at 10:52 am
Believe BA likely feels Coen has improved the team & is getting results with a much less talented roster than Todd has. As others have written, that team is taking on their coaches personality & is starting to play pissed off (see Saleh post game dust up) and believe in themselves. Personally enjoy seeing their resurgence. Know some here don’t feel a coaches personality has any affect, but believe otherwise myself (especially with today’s players).
October 3rd, 2025 at 11:01 am
And it ain’t trolling bucboi and has nada to do with skin color – today’s version of the NFL is best suited with an OC/HC for CONTINUITY – something Baker has never had nor will have
October 3rd, 2025 at 11:08 am
Yawn
Could have, should have, would have…..
That page turned months ago.
Go Bucs!!!
October 3rd, 2025 at 11:12 am
Keeping Bowels(lol) over Cohen will go down as one of the biggest blunders in buc history.
October 3rd, 2025 at 11:23 am
Coen would have three full time coordinators, too. Unlike our guy who now has to wear three hats thanks to Magoo.
October 3rd, 2025 at 11:25 am
I have been very pleased with how Bowles has coached the team thus far this season. He has progressed in his decision making as it relates to game flow and offensive football…which was mist significant issue I had with him.
That said, if you asked me if I would be willing to change out cohen for Bowles I would still agree to do it. While I certainly respect Bowles ability to work the locker room and build a culture, having the opportunity to pair a young promising offensive HC with a franchise qb for the long term is just too enticing to pass up.
Glazers/Licht were really in between a rock and a hard place. If you make that move it certainly has the opportunity to fracture a locker room, but the long term opportunity might be worth it.
October 3rd, 2025 at 11:27 am
The cushiest job in the world is the one Arians has. Please tell me what he has brought to the table that has actually benefited the Bucs in his senior advisory role.
October 3rd, 2025 at 11:31 am
The Glazers made the right call.
There is a reason multiple OCs have looked good for the Bucs. And now that the focus is on building the defense, Bowles is the smart move.
Rome wasn’t built in a day. Expecting an instant hit on defense was silly. But they’re improving gradually.
October 3rd, 2025 at 11:44 am
The sad truth is:
Coen was the best OC the Bucs have ever had in our entire 50 years of existence.
We should have given him the Monte Kiffin offer: Assistant Head Coach and a massive salary to stay.
Grizz is honestly pretty terrible compared to Coen.
Especially with the run game.
October 3rd, 2025 at 11:46 am
Bucky has been ruled out most likely for Sunday game against the Seahawks according to NFL.com Time for the white and tucker show.
October 3rd, 2025 at 11:49 am
Flabbergasted on that! Wow, disappointed in BA on this. Coen has been around a minute. Not a better HC.
October 3rd, 2025 at 11:52 am
The greatest Bowles Blunder of All Time.
October 3rd, 2025 at 11:59 am
Liam is a damn good coach, the guy knows how to scheme a run game and get the best out of his personal. You never, take an opportunity away from someone to advance their career. Good for Liam, keep grinding!
October 3rd, 2025 at 12:00 pm
I think Bowles was the right call. Coen has not had any adversity yet, lets see what happens when the Jags do face some adversity.
But I choose Bowles because I love the culture of this Bucs team. The camaraderie, the genuine good people, team first and good players. Bowles is building something sturdy that keeps getting better. This is the first year out of the rebuild and we are deep with good players. Licht knows how to draft players for Bowles and his staff generally develops those players.
We have had a great start to the season considering the challenges, but we have played well in every game, losing only to the Super bowl champs. Stay the course!
October 3rd, 2025 at 12:07 pm
How do you not have anything on this site about Bucky being out?
October 3rd, 2025 at 12:11 pm
I agree. They have had an o line and run game resurgence and the defense has improved into a top unit the first year.
October 3rd, 2025 at 12:13 pm
Would the Glazers have given Coen HC money to remain OC for a couple years?
October 3rd, 2025 at 12:14 pm
Yeah, it’s a little ‘too late’ to be desperately trying to track him down, when he’s already OUT of your building and your grasp. And, then you get YOUR feelings ‘hurt’ when you’ve already ‘insulted him’ with such an offer, with zero guarantees, & etc. I mean, WTF were you even thinking… Just wanting to have your cake and eat it too, I suppose!? He was NOT going to sit there, and try to openly undermine BOWLES, whom I am sure that he really respected and appreciated for giving him the opportunity, in the first place. So, he’s NOT going to sit there, and say that I DEMAND the job RIGHT NOW (or even for the next season after). It was up to THE BUCS FO to read the room. BUT, they decided that THEY ‘thought’ it was a good enough offer to keep HIM around. LoL PLEASE. It’s Absurd. And, then they want to literally, freak TF OUT over it, in the way that they did. What did they ever EXPECT. That was NEVER going to be good enough. They had to ‘pull the trigger’ on it immediately, themselves. The same exact way, that they did when they kicked B.A. to the curb for Bowles. Ya know (just as I said then), THAT DECISION had to already have been MADE (in private), even before the season had ended. Definitely 💯, right after the Washington loss in the playoffs. Their minds had to be made. It was an EASY decision and the ‘obvious one’ to make. Hell, it was THE ONLY decision. But, the Bucs FO wanted to play games… With the problem being, Coen was NOT. It was HIS life, and HIS future. He had to do what was best FOR HIM. And, My God… Did he ever! The Bucs FO mishandled this SO miserably. Just Terribly. And, it just made them look even worse, by so frantically, trying to stop him. They had their chance, and they just absolutely, BLEW-IT!!!! Soooo Weak.
October 3rd, 2025 at 12:17 pm
Neither one of them will win Coach of the year
The best thing going for them
They are coaching in the Two WORST divisions
In the NFL, nothing great about that
October 3rd, 2025 at 12:33 pm
Right now though, I’d give the award to Colts HC, Shane Steichen. I know his roster is quite a bit stronger than JAX’s is right now, but I’d still give-it to him. He’s a DAMN GOOD Coach. ANOTHER one of those 40 & under ‘offensive’ genius PLAY-CALLERS. People miserably ‘underrated’ that Colts Roster. I KNEW it was a ridiculous take! THAT is a damn strong roster (when healthy), PERIOD. And, they made a GREAT 1st-Round Pick (I don’t know what the hell the Bears were thinking)… They can do SO MUCH with him. Just SO Versatile. Jonathan Taylor is a STUD. Just a BEAST (when fully healthy). As soon as they announced “Danny Dimes” as their starting QB, and kicked Anthony Richardson to the curb, I changed my season predictions immediately, to THEM ‘winning’ their Division… And, Coen’s Jags finishing #2 and MAKING The Playoffs! I had confidence in THEIR Roster overall, AND think ‘their coach’ is a STUD. But, AR is NOT a QB. Period. I saw enough of him at FloDuh… He desperately, needed at least another year, but I believe he should’ve been moved to WR/TE, to begin with. I don’t believe he “loves” FOOTBALL, either!
October 3rd, 2025 at 12:35 pm
If Coen goes to the playoffs and Bowles does not then that would be interesting.
October 3rd, 2025 at 12:44 pm
Time will tell.
October 3rd, 2025 at 12:55 pm
You have all of these offensive play-calling geniuses scattered across the league now, who are all 45-years old and younger… LaFleur, Shanahan, Sirianni, Stefanski, Zac Taylor (not HIS fault he’s forced to have to deal with a PATHETIC Cincy FO), Steichen, O’Connell, Coen, McVay (still Jonny 39, crazy), & Ben Johnson. We had OURS, but they let him go.
October 3rd, 2025 at 1:00 pm
lol why is the comment section on this site so damn negative? Or always running with a statement or piece of news, and taking it to the extreme?
In this case, saying Coen is a leading candidate for COY is fair and just plain factual. The jags won a total of 4 games last year and this year already are at that mark, have a winning record, and are currently positioned to possibly win their division/make the playoffs. Etienne is finally making an impact and Lawrence has looked much improved.
Will that be the case the rest of the year? maybe or maybe not. BUT… Does what Arians said mean the Bucs should have absolutely promoted Coen and booted Bowles? NO. Does that mean he slighted Bowles with this statement? NO. Is Arians promoting too heavily and in doing so condoning how Coen unprofessionally handled the contract negotiations with the Bucs? NO,
October 3rd, 2025 at 1:01 pm
*almost at that mark (3 wins)
October 3rd, 2025 at 1:04 pm
im a fan of coaches who game plan not the ones who have a we do what we do mentality. that mentality is what gets kicks blocked 3 weeks im a row. cant wait till bucs play shanahan off a mini bye
October 3rd, 2025 at 1:07 pm
It’s a long season and we early in at this point. Coen had a front line that remained relatively healthy. so he never had to play with players out of position. Everyone talks about the importance of continuity on the offensive line. Griz and Bowles have had to deal with it since the start of the season and probably won’t see any offensive continuity until sometime after the bye week.
So comparing Coen to Bowles-Griz is like comparing apples to orange.
NOT A FAIR COMPARISON
October 3rd, 2025 at 1:15 pm
If you look at the film, know the game and know how the league favors offense. The smart move was to fire Todd and promote Coen.
Licht fumbled the bag BADDDDDDDDDD by not doing everything to keep COen here.
October 3rd, 2025 at 1:17 pm
@ Beeej – I mean, he might have agreed to that, if it were only for just ‘ONE’ more season (Bowles only had just 1-year left on his contract, and they could’ve ‘sold-it’ to Coen that they would like to honor it). BUT, that is a HUGE risk though, for Coen. Because, there really isn’t such a thing as a “Guarantee” in THE NFL. What if everything went to HELL this season, and Baker got hurt, & etc. Then, they all just IMPLODED. And, EVERYONE GETS FIRED. Now, that is probably not going to be the case, BUT STILL… You just never really know 💯 FOR SURE. So, I don’t think he would ever agree to “2-Years.” But, just ONE… Potentially. Bottom-line, though… The decision should’ve already been made internally! And, it should’ve been to go ahead and pull the trigger, and rip the bandaid off. Coen saved Bowles JOB last season to begin with. We needed EVERY single bit of EVERY yard and touchdown gained last season in COEN’S TOP-5 OFFENSE (in rushing yards, in passing yards, in total yards, in points per game, in RedZone TD%, etc. etc.)… Especially, with THAT Bowles-DEFENSE. Every. Single. Bit of it.
October 3rd, 2025 at 1:19 pm
The fact that Hainsey knows Cohens system probably helped immensely. Th ehh still haven’t even got Brian Thomas going yet.
October 3rd, 2025 at 1:21 pm
B.A. was always very impressed with Coen, from day-1. And, HE KNEW what the ‘correct’ move would have been. He wouldn’t admit it publicly, but HE KNOWS.
October 3rd, 2025 at 1:37 pm
Coens a punk with no integrity. Jax is better because of their defense and turnovers.
Somebody called him an offensive savante – wtf – 1 successful year with a stacked offense – lol.
And he’s wearing too many hats… HC, calling (coordination) of offensive plays, and more.
To the “fans” who keep “stroking” Coen
Todd says “whatever”, he’s used to it.
Liam says…. faster faster 😳
October 3rd, 2025 at 1:52 pm
jason and the glazers were all hot to trot to resign people and guarantee money this last offseason after they saw how stupidly they hurt their franchise by letting coen go.
October 3rd, 2025 at 1:58 pm
Coen hasn’t done JACK. His defense has 9 picks and leads the league in takeaways with 13. Who thinks that kind of luck will last? Watch what happens after they lose a few games. Starting with the Chiefs this weekend. Grizzard has been handicapped with this OLine. Seems like our commenters don’t understand football to not understand what the Oline means to the team. If Coen wins 8 games this year I will rethink it. But he hasn’t won 4 yet. I think it’s high time to remove Arians from the payroll.
October 3rd, 2025 at 2:12 pm
MelvinJunior. Will you concede that Bowles and Canales led us deeper in the playoffs than Bowles and Coen did?
October 3rd, 2025 at 2:42 pm
Last year was at least EXCITING- we were confident that we’d score despite the downfall of the defense – we wanted the ball and scored on multiple opening drives and the run game went from worst to 4th- no coincidences Lee! This team has been “off” since the Summer like a deer in the headlights – especially the Wirfs and Heck situation- just like it’s HC
Sam we are Bucs fans – it’s our God-given right to be negative since 1976 lol Still hoping for the best but SEA/SF/DET are going to show what “cultures” made of
Hope the last year of David and Evans isn’t squandered
Good on Joe posting the deeper stories – you can go ANYWHERE to find out Buckys out Sun bc they’ve run him like he’s Derrick freaking Henry with 4 RUNNING BACKS ON THE TEAM!
October 3rd, 2025 at 2:46 pm
Time will tell, but I think Coen is a better play caller than our current guy. There’s a bit of an art with play calling that goes beyond Xs and Os. Having been a QB, OC and college HC, he seems to have a solid feel for what works for his QBs. The dude schemes well and gets the chains moving right from the kickoff.
I think with Bowles you have likely plateaued. He’s capable but I don’t know if you’re going to see the Bucs compete for conference championships.
October 3rd, 2025 at 2:48 pm
Time will tell if the Bucs admin whiffed on letting Coen leave the building instead of making him the HC.
October 3rd, 2025 at 3:01 pm
@KS – Why would I have to concede THAT!? I never disputed it. I guess, all this Coen talk has hurt your feelings, and you’ve taken it personal, or something!?:/ I said, keeping COEN was ‘the move’ to make (if their hand was forced and had to choose), as soon as they were eliminated by the ‘Skins in the playoffs, last season. The ONLY reason that Canales was even offered the Panthers Job in the first place, was because HE was the ‘only one’ who would’ve taken it. NO ‘established’ Coach was EVER even considering THAT job with THAT owner. Period. EVERYONE knows that, and knew-it at the time. And, I was totally good with it! Even Canales himself, knew that it could potentially be HIS only chance at a HC opportunity, in this league. So, he had to take it! Canales was ok… Coen though, is SPECIAL. Just a huuuge difference. BTW, Lawrence is just slightly ‘mid’ at best, too! He has not looked very good at all, and is a ‘bottom 5-10’ starting-QB in the league. Baker & Coen was a match made in HEAVEN (even with a WR-group devastated with injuries for a large chunk of the season). I do believe that Coen made a major mistake though, by trading away next season’s #1 FOR TRAVIS Freaking HUNTER. But, he/they can recover from that. I just don’t believe that Lawrence is “The Guy,” and I don’t believe that HE “Loves” FOOTBALL. And, that Coen will eventually lose his patience with him.
October 3rd, 2025 at 3:08 pm
I give Coen the best odds to get knocked out by a player or coach before the year is out. 🤣
October 3rd, 2025 at 3:14 pm
Bruce Arians can go back to his GA cave and hang out with the rest of the stupes. As in stuff it! Who cares what he thinks at this point in time? Coen was nothing to write home about, plus looks like Canales is bringing the Panthers back to life! Go Bucs, 4-1!!
October 3rd, 2025 at 3:25 pm
I never ‘bought-in’ on Trevor Lawrence, even while at Clemson. I just assumed that I must be missing something then, since literally EVERYONE ELSE, was just soooo ‘in-love’ with him!? I just never saw “it” from him… And, NOBODY has watched more college football than me. Literally, I have been sitting in front of a tv for 40-YEARS. Every Saturday/Every Game (even DVRing at least 4-5 games per week now, on average), from the age of EIGHT. For at least 12+HOURS, every Saturday, when not in the stands. And, for a great portion of it, watching HIGH SCHOOL Football on the Friday Night before. Maybe, Coen can work a ‘miracle’ with him… I just NEVER SAW “IT.” I should’ve trusted myself, though! I have a real hard-time ever seeing it happen, at this point, regardless. He’s definitely NOT worth $50-MIL+ per, that’s for sure. These teams are CRAZY for ‘allowing’ these QB’s to hold them hostage during these 2nd-contract negotiators. You KNOW ‘special’ when you see-it.
October 3rd, 2025 at 3:28 pm
@ orlbucfan – Oh, I already knew YOU were getting YOUR ‘feelings’ hurt by this, and taking-it PERSONAL, living inside of your ‘adult’ Bucs-Fantasyland. LoL.
October 3rd, 2025 at 3:57 pm
Redzone Says: “Good on Joe posting the deeper stories – you can go ANYWHERE to find out Buckys out Sun bc they’ve run him like he’s Derrick freaking Henry with 4 RUNNING BACKS ON THE TEAM.”
YES. It has been a concern of mine for awhile now! A lot of people on here had been saying, that they need to get Bucky 25-30 ‘touches’ per game, and I’m like “NO.” He is not a “bell-cow” type of running back. It’s a loooong season. And, his usage has seemed awfully ‘high’ to me, for being SO early on in the season. There is just no way, that he is making-it through an entire season like that! It has been kind of surprising to me… I have no idea for why they have used HIM so much more than RWhite (and Tucker, not at ALL). I felt-like, they were kind of running him into the ground (for it being this early). None of it has made any sense to me. I haven’t even been the biggest RWhite fan here either, but HE has looked fine to me, or just as good on most occasions (when used right). I wonder how many ‘plays’ per game we are averaging right now, through 4-games. I do know that our “RedZone” TD% is waaay down, and has to be close to being in the BOTTOM-5 of the league… When, last season we were TOP-5 in the league.
October 3rd, 2025 at 4:07 pm
It’s only been four games — let’s evaluate after the season or even in a few years. Right now, it’s all hearsay and guesswork. The Jags look good so far — key word: so far. It’s a long, long season. Ultimately I only care about Super Bowl rings so whoever gets one first or gets the most of them wins in my book…
October 3rd, 2025 at 4:31 pm
Liam Coen and not Todd Bowles isn’t a fair call yet BUT I DO kinda want to say, “NO SH!T”!
We ALL knew we Lost the next best thing since sliced bread when he slipped out the “back door”…
BUT it’s just spilled milk now.
Our guys Are our guys and our coaches are the ones that the Glazers and Licht have stubbornly stuck with, with the answer to us getting MULTIPLE SUPER BOWLS slipping out of the “back door”!
O WAIT A MINUTE! Did I just let my TRUE FEELINGS slip out of my head in the last few sentences??? Darn! I’ll fix it….
Our guys are are guys and our coaches are our coaches so WE WILL PLAY THE HAND WE’VE BEEN GIVEN, COME HE!! OR HIGH WATER, NO MATTER THE SUFFERING AND ANGUISH WE MOST CERTAINLY “WILL HAVE TO” ENDURE!
There you go. All politically correct. Sort of….
October 3rd, 2025 at 4:52 pm
It is tough to win coach of the year after you’ve won the division three years in a row.
Coen or Steichen so far.
October 3rd, 2025 at 5:08 pm
@MelvinJunior
That first statement you laid out… Well Said brother! I’m Clapping. Listen, the RCG club (Rossy Colored Glasses acolytes) has SOLD OUT on Bowles NO MATTER WHAT and Those Rossy Glasses are screwing with they good judgment. Bowles DOES NOT walk on water. I’ll Give credit to him for getting A Lot together this year BUT TO SAY WE CAN’T DO BETTER HAS A REAL BLAND RING TO IT BECAUSE IT’S NOT TRUE!
I say to the RCG acolytes THIS….
Bowles ability to turn a club around is the Sound and Size of a bicycle bell.
Coen’s OBVIOUS ABILITY to turn around a ball club is much more the Sound and Size of the BELLS OF VATICAN!
Sorry fellas there IS NO competition there! The ONLY advantage Bowles has is YEARS OF EXPERIENCE! BUT…. Bowles Does Have Years of Experience and THAT IS A POWERFUL WEAPON…..
“Looking Towards the Future” of the organization and the continuance of WINNING SUCCESS, losing Coen WAS a MASSIVE BLOW to the Buccaneers potential “clear” path…. was lost when he left. IT DOES NOT HOWEVER MEAN THAT WE CAN’T DO “JUST AS WELL” , IF NOT BETTER GOING FORWARD! So don’t sweat the small stuff. …
October 3rd, 2025 at 5:11 pm
Yeah, and we are stuck with Bowles. Same mistakes every year. And with all these injuries…… I dont know.
October 3rd, 2025 at 5:15 pm
@RedZone
I thought you did an Awesome job of “calling it” before the Explosion happened…
“Just opened a can of worms” Boy o Boy did you call it…
Nice…
October 3rd, 2025 at 5:17 pm
And to be Frank…. Arians is a Straight Shooter with No governer on his mouth..
He was simply Calling It Like He Sees It….
October 3rd, 2025 at 5:41 pm
Hey MelvinJunior, what precisely is your buzz? I did not address nor criticize you. Do me a favor and go back and read my comment.
October 3rd, 2025 at 5:58 pm
The ole ball Coach knows football!
If the Bucs made Coen the HC then confidence would be justified for this season….
Bowles for coach of the year (coach of the year), likely several names more deserving…
October 3rd, 2025 at 6:09 pm
Bowles will not be coach of the year we doing the same thing with similar results..it will likely go to Coen not a hater the jaguars hit a complete 360 and players I wrote off on that team are playing solid ball, heck it may even go to the colts hc his team is playing better and may end up winning the division over there…
October 3rd, 2025 at 8:03 pm
Bowles, Coach of the Year, that’s laughable. By the time this is all over his 9-8 record should get him fired.
October 3rd, 2025 at 8:13 pm
@obvious
Yeah this should be an ongoing hindsight debate all season – Ira stoked again in his column lol
October 3rd, 2025 at 9:00 pm
What are you writing your life history Melvin ? Nobody cares!
October 3rd, 2025 at 9:43 pm
Well no kidding, Bowles’ 3-1 record is based on beating teams that are 3-9, while Copper Top should be 4-0 right now if his dumb WR doesn’t drop an easy pass. The Jags were supposed to be a bad team, and the Bucs are supposed to be a playoff team. Pretty easy to pick Coen at this point for turning around a very bad team – so far, I assume they’ll hit a losing skid at some point, but if they finish at or above .500, that’s a remarkable turnaround for that team.
October 3rd, 2025 at 11:16 pm
Coen is a great offensive mind. Was def bummed to lose him.
Well see how the season plays out in terms of him being a HC, but there were def a lot of fans around here who wanted him to replace Bowles. I was unsure of how he would be as a HC personally. Mr. duvalllllllll comes off like a bit of a weirdo IMO. Let’s see how he handles things when some adversity strikes.
October 3rd, 2025 at 11:19 pm
@Rod – that 3-1 record for Bowles is also with the most injured team in the league.
October 4th, 2025 at 1:23 am
The only notable game the Jags won is against the 49ers. That also it was the defense that got 2 INTs. Trevor Lawrence? 174 yards and 1 TD. Coach of the Year my asterisk! F-ing Benedict Arnold.

———
Actually, I think the 49ers and Ravens are more injured.
Still, the Bucs are supposed to be a playoff team – the Jags were supposed to be playing for the #1 pick in the draft. Coen has done a pretty amazing job so far making a very dull and boring team, interesting.
None of that is bashing Bowles, he’s done well so far this year, but just saying out of the two, a new coach going to a team that just picked 5th overall, and they should absolutely be 4-0 right now, that’s a very impressive job, and if you’re talking about an early coach of the year, he’d be at the top of the list. With that said they certainly won’t keep that pace, but it’s still a good start for Coen.

Yeah, you’re going to turn down a job that pays you at least $12M a year for 5 years for a job that pays you $4M for 3 years? Yeah right. People with the Benedict Arnold nonsense are ridicilous.
Also, what you just said is what makes it even more impressive. He’s got a team to 3-1 (and again is one easy catch away from being 4-0) while not getting hardly anything about of their QB. Not sure how you spin that in your head into being a bad thing, but that’s a really dumb take.
