Big Day For Big Plays Tomorrow

October 25th, 2025

Another long one coming Sunday for Emeka Egbuka?

Since the day Josh Grizzard was first introduced as Bucs offensive coordinator, he explained he wanted to keep Liam Coen’s offense intact.

That is, with one exception.

Coen disdained throwing the ball downfield past 20 yards from the line of scrimmage. When Joe referred to Coen’s offense as a dink-and-dunk — which it was, though it worked! — Coen playfully (?) called out Joe in one of his weekly press conferences.

Grizzard wants to stretch the field, at least a little. Perhaps tomorrow will be a good chance to do that again. The following two stats dug up by Rich Hribar of Sharp Football Analysis have Joe salivating.

* Tampa Bay has scored 8 touchdowns from outside of the red zone, tied for second in the league.

* The Saints have allowed 6 touchdowns from outside of the red zone, tied for the most in the league.

Joe at first thought this Bucs stat may not fully apply tomorrow. Joe thought Mike Evans may have had a long touchdown or two. But no, he did not.

Evans lone touchdown catch was a five-yard score against the Jets. So none of the eight touchdowns from outside the red zone came from Evans.

Joe wonders if Emeka Egbuka catching another long touchdown pass is in play tomorrow?

Egbuka has been the most consistent deep threat on the field, even with Evans. He’s got deceptive speed and enough moves to get open down field. He’ll get double coverage this week, but I’m still expecting a few big ones.

Sorry, but the long ball is not something that Baker has been very good at. Get back to what works. Yes take some shots but more of Coen’s offense. That display Sunday should bring Grizz to plan B. We do not have the O line to block consistently for the long pass plays. Keep defenses off balance by mixing it up a bit more. Get Rachaad in space. Not the simple screen stuff I have seen too much of this season. Two back sets? Where are Miller, and Culp? They did some good stuff last season when we were down in the WR room.

    Go Bucs!

Just score and score a lot offense. Bowles D will likely allow another opening drive score so be prepared for a track meet.

If the Bucs avoid the turnovers, they should win but then again, Philly should have beat the Giants 2 weeks ago and that turned out to be a major trap game. Hopefully Bowles has his team ready to play and does not grab his ankle on Sunday afternoon. Just win baby!

Reading the others posts on here, Baker is ready to get it done this Sunday against the Saints. The Bucs are going to go in fighting for the win. The Lions game is in the back mirror now. Learned lessons. Go Bucs!

Baker leads the NFL with 27 completions of 20 yards+, I’ll take that

Love Baker, far and away my fave Bucs quarterback- it’s not close. Also brings national attention to Tampa. Brady did too, but that was different. Completely inorganic. Baker is one of us, and Tampa has become the team to root for (if it’s not your team) kind of a thing. All that being said, not even Bale is above reproach. His 2 flaws are that he gets passes batter down way more than anyone would like, and his accuracy on deep throws is a bit below average. Passes were there in Detroit. Again, there’s a big difference between letting Mike go up and get it, and hitting Ebuka in stride when he’s behind the defender. Need to hit those. Now – to be fair, 4 out of our 5 offensive lineman are meh at best (Barton is no Ryan Jensen.) Can’t rely on baker being a little jitterbug every damn week

  8. PSL Bob Says:

Baker will score lots of points if the o-line gives him better protection than he had last week. He was constantly under siege by the Lions front. That shouldn’t be the case this week, or at least it better not be or we’re in trouble.

  9. Todd Says:

If Baker is still hurting like he was in the Lions game causing inaccurate long throws , because in that scenario long passes become a liability. Thank God for the upcoming bye-we need it.

There is a shiny toy that has not been played with much it at all this season.
He is similar size too Mike Evans and just as fast or faster. His name is Devin Culp.
He has a2 Thane stretch last year when there were injuries and made big plays.
I think it is time to get him more involved with the offense.

Think of the formations. 2 TE sets but he can block or less on those players so the defense doesn’t know what is coming. He is a mismatch for linebackers and too big to be covered by a slot corner.
We need to start using him with Mike out!

Two TDs for Tez. That’s my prediction. We don’t have Bucky at RB, but we have his equivalent at WR. Tez is a jitterbug the Bucs need to utilize more. Tucker had a fantastic game against them last season. It would be great if he could do half as much this week. Go Bucs

  12. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Very simply a must win game. There are NO excuses to lose this game.

  13. Marky mark Says:

Under Canales and Coen they preferred the short pass. So a myth developed that Baker couldn’t throw long. He has one of the strongest v arms in the NFl and great touch. They just would not let him throw long. in 2020 he was the most accurate long ball thrower. Against the Lions long throws v were negated by a freak collarbone injury and lousy ref calls despised by the league office.

  14. Marky mark Says:

The inaccurate long throws were caused by being hyper. Do yoga.

  15. Lt. Dan Says:

Tez for two! (cause’s he’s starting on my fake football team)

  16. Oscar Says:

Seems like some have already forgotten the long strikes to EE and Tez. Baker’s so called shortcomings throwing deep is bull. Problem against the Lions was them being in his face play after play and the aggressive and fast defense across the board. That’s what neutralized our attack. Peyton Manning threw for over 50 touchdowns for the Broncos the year they were beaten by the Seahawks in the Super Bowl. The Seahawks did the same thing to Manning that day that the Lions did to Baker this past Monday night. I remember that game well.

  17. Buddha Says:

This is not a must win game. Before the season began 5-3 was Joes prediction to get to 11 wins.

  18. orlbucfan Says:

EE and Tez are two very good, young rookie receivers. Grizzard needs to let Bake throw to them, whether it’s long, short or medium. Grizzard also has receivers in White, Otton and Culp. Use them!! Open up the offense. And kick the extra point for a change. Go Bucs!!

  19. Aqualung Says:

The matadors won’t give Baker any time and he’ll get rattled again. Griz will be ordering Leftwurstian runs up the middle and zero creativity. The Smurf receivers will be pressed like pancakes, which is how Todd has the whole team before an important game – flat as. The expose’ is on. It’s The Big Todd Swoon.

  20. Daryl Green Says:

Big plays huh🤣🤣🤣 where have I heard this before, ohh the 3rd string secondary in Detroit🤣🤣 stop it.
