Baker Mayfield On Pace For 4,360 Yards, 34 Touchdowns & 3 Interceptions

October 12th, 2025

The “MVP!” chants that rained down on Baker Mayfield at The Licht House tonight were loud, proud and valid.

As Joe typed in the headline, Mayfield is on pace for 4,360 yards, 34 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. In Joe’s book, that would be the greatest statistical season in franchise history.

More important, of course, is Mayfield being on pace for a 14-win season, which would be the greatest regular season in team history.

What a ride this season has been, but Mayfield isn’t hopping on his own bandwagon. He was asked about the MVP chants following tonight’s beatdown of the 49ers and quickly noted, “It’s Week 6.”

Yeah, MVP chatter and October hype is for fans and media, not the game’s top quarterback through six games.

    Sweet.

    “It’s week 6”

    Don’t care – MVP!

  3. Cybersecurity_intern Says:

    Let’s go BM6

  4. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

The low INT number is the most impactful figure here, career low there and we’ll keep winning more often than not. We clearly have the talent to make the other two happen just playing good football

  5. Leighroy Says:

Don’t eat the rat poison! Take it one game at a time baby!

  6. D-Rome Says:

There’s still a lot of football left, but this team is special. Jason Licht needs to be put in the Ring of Honor.

  7. Bojim Says:

I dont like on pace for. Sorry.

  8. Orlando Kevin Says:

Baker is playing amazing putting the team on his back to change momentum at the right time. But he’s right, it’s week 6 and lots of football to play. We certainly can not afford to lose him though. And we need to get key players healthy.

  9. Darin Says:

U told us Egbukas pace recently too. We don’t need anymore!

  10. Kenton Smith Says:

I believe our team only has 2 turnovers through 6 games. That has to be the best in the league. Keep this up and we’ll have an extra bye week this year. The first week of the playoffs is a good time for a bye week

  11. LakelandSteve Says:

Without Mayfield this team might be staring at 0-5 right in the face

  12. 813bucboi Says:

    Great work baker

    5-1

    GO BUCS

  13. ‘74 Bucs Fan Says:

I would love to hear MVP chants all year long!

  14. Dewey Selmon Says:

LakelandSteve with his Polk county math. we’ve played 6 games lol

  15. Chris K Says:

It’s only 6 weeks, but after 6 weeks Baker is the MVP. That’s a pretty awesome feeling!

  16. stpetebucsfan Says:

Thankfully Baker doesn’t read or listen to any of this stuff.

Everytime he’s asked a question about the season ahead, whether it’s the team record or his record he ALWAYS responds…”That’s Poison!” Look at the next game and ONLY the next opponent and never lose focus.

We fans are allowed to lose focus though and it’s hard not to think of things like MVP and the playoffs.

Even if the Bucs lose the next two games they hit the bye at 5-3 with a chance to get healthy and only one monster (Buffalo) opponent remaining on their schedule. The Bucs COULD win 12-13 games IF Baker stays healthy.

  17. SenileSenior Says:

Speculating about season stats is fun. Winning one game at a time is also good. I am firmly seated on the Bucs bandwagon. Love the hype swirling around our team. No hiding who we are now.

    Go Bucs!!

  18. Aqualung Says:

The announcers made up the Johnson & Johnson label for our #5 and #6. Little Tez made a spectacular play. So happy that one of these hyped dudes in preseason actually brings it to the real game in crunch time. Kam J also showing what he was lauded for. Fargin awesome. Baker makes the scrubs look all pro.

  19. Gipper Says:

Mayfield is a winner. Always has been even if the fools in the media refused to believe it. Mayfield can make every throw required of an NFL QB which is why he was selected in 2018 ahead of Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Sam Darnold. Before it is over, Mayfield will win more SB’s than that crew combined. The guy that selected Mayfield for the Browns was John Dorsey who really knew talent. Naturally, the Browns fired him. How has that worked out for the Browns?

  20. SlyPirate Says:

Baker has been crushing it. He continues to be a great story …

    But …

The story of this game are:
    1. The defense finally came to play.
    2. We have a pass rush.
    3. Our WR deep and talented.

  21. Bucs4Ever Says:

    mvp mvp mvp

  22. TBBucFan Says:

That a boy Bake. You just focus on Detroit and worry about the rewards later. Much later. Can’t wait to see this offense with the top three receivers catching Baker’s balls. Too bad we’ll have to wait until next year to see all starters on the OL.

  23. Gipper Says:

Anyone think the Bucs will let Mayfield become a free agent at the end of 2026? A lot can happen between now and then but at least the Tampa fans have seen the real Mayfield. The guy that Sports Illustrated said was the best college QB of this century.

  24. Mveal2006 Says:

Baker has unfinished friendly business with mahomes and wants to beat him in a super bowl

It goes back to texas tech..

We need to help make sure that happens

  25. firethecannons Says:

Baker is doing well, one game at a time.

  26. MelvinJunior Says:

I’m not saying ANYTHING. Not gonna be “that guy,” who jinxes him. There’s still another 14-15 games to go!

  27. Davyboy Says:

Tony Romo brought up a cool fact. Before tonight, there were only 2 quarterbacks that threw 80 touchdowns in their first 40 games, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. Now there’s a third, BM6!!! The comparisons keep rollin in and where will they end? That’s a rare group to be hanging out with.
    The cream’s still risin🏴‍☠️

  28. Bosch Says:

It’s week 6. Right answer! Wait no. Perfect answer.

  29. Davyboy Says:

    Monday night October 20, 2025
Look out Detroit the Bucs are comin 4 U Mano a Mano
    6-1 🏴‍☠️

stpetebucsfan Says: “Thankfully Baker doesn’t read or listen to any of this stuff.”

He 💯 most certainly does, too! Every. Single. Word. Of It. 💯. He’s mentions and addresses just about everything that’s ever been said. It’s impossible not to, especially nowadays! It’s literally, EVERYWHERE. Plus, HE THRIVES off of it… So, YOU KNOW he’s just searchin’ tryin’ to find ANY little THING to get him goin (just like MJ and a lot of ‘em). Hell, just last week he was referring to the comments that Colin Cowherd used to always say about him (for years), right after Colin and Jmac did a big apology segment. It was ‘dead on’ and that was what put it inside of Baker’s head in the first place, when he addressed it at the podium (about the whole “immature, cocky, moxie” thing). And, he even apologized publicly, just last season about the entire team (himself included) kind of really smelling themselves a little too much (or whatever it was he said), when referring to their bad play, after being given all that love by the media. And, what was the very FIRST thing he did immediately, right after his postgame ‘on-field’ interview with CBS!? He was grabbing for HIS PHONE from the person in-charge of holding it for him during the game. So, you think he was calling his wife!? Idk, maybe!? But, I GUARANTEE YOU that he’s reading about EVERYTHING there is to be said. HE’s not missing a damn thing. 💯

  31. Gipper Says:

    MelvinJunior,

Ok…We get it, maybe…….As usual there is a lot to sort out in your post which leads me to conclude: I know you think you understood what you thought I said; but, what you understood me to say isn’t necessarily what I meant.

    Got it?

  32. Buc1987 Says:

Told ya we love you Baker.

    Go Bucs wow!

  33. MelvinJunior Says:

These guys nowadays, couldn’t miss hearing all of the ‘noise’ even if they tried. They’ve all got wives, friends, family, posses, girlfriends, etc. They’re ALL of their phones, ad social media, & etc. just like everyone else. So, the problem is NOT the “rat poison,” as Nick Saban calls it… It’s how YOU handle it and allow it to effect YOURSELF. Because, you are NOT going to escape it. Not even Nick Saban himself, or any other coach. They’re ALL lying when they say they don’t pay any attention to it… Because, THEY DO. It’s human nature to begin with, but now, EVERYONE has all the access in the world, right in the palm of their hand. They KNOW WTF is being said 💯. I mean, that’s not even a real question. Actually, I rarely even hear it mentioned like I used to. It’s more about just having to block it all out. Cause, you’re gonna see and hear it. It’s impossible not to. The only thing for me though, is that I would prefer NOT to see him do any major interviews, like with Kay Adams, Colin, or any of those. Go ahead, read your press-clippings (cause you’re goin to anyway), but just stay way from the ‘live-interviews’ until, AFTER the season. They are unnecessary. They weren’t all that interested in you BEFORE the season, until now… So, screw ‘em then, don’t give-it to them.

  34. 727Buc Says:

    Dewey selmon….. lol… go bucs

  35. MelvinJunior Says:

@ Gipper – He’s watching, hearing, seeing, and listening to EVERY. SINGLE. WORD. That is spoken about him. Definitely, everything from the mainstream sports media. 💯 That is a fact. Now, is that clear enough for you? It wasn’t just a coincidence that he brought up that whole “immature/cocky/moxie” thing, while at the podium last week. It did not come outta nowhere, just off the top of his head. He saw the segment that Colin Cowherd and Jmac recently did about him. And, he was mocking it! But, it’s all good though… No need to worry. It was ALL completely positive (which was why he was mocking it).

  36. Stpetematt Says:

Johnson and Johnson are really our number 6 and 7 receivers. Don’t forget about Jalen McMillan and Shepard when counting…

  37. Cometowin2 Says:

Ordered my first Baker Mayfield jersey before the game. Not regretting my decision. Baker for MVP!!!

  38. garro Says:

Gotta say this! I was not on board the Baker train when he got here. I am now convinced he is the QB, the football player the, “Moxie” man that folks said he was. Third and 14? Wow! I WAS WRONG!

I have been around long enough to see some great scramblers and I think Baker may arguably be the best I have seen. Half the defense had shots at him yet he still made it happen. Wow! Moxie man!

    Go Bucs!

  39. Marky mark Says:

Again much praise for Coach Bowles for ignoring the shrill Gator fans and the vicious midget slander and going with his 2018 draft assessment that Baker is the Football Gretzky or great one. To paraphrase Wayne “You miss every TD pass you never throw”.
