Anthony Nelson Nominated For “Angry Runs”
October 28th, 2025You know it, you love it: It’s Kyle Brandt’s weekly “Angry Runs” segment.
For those unaware, Brandt has a feature on the show he co-hosts, “Good Morning Football,” seen weekday mornings on NFL Network. It’s called “Angry Runs.”
Brandt takes the most physical, gnarly runs and highlights his favorite three each week. The winner gets a shirt and a scepter.
The feature was spawned when Brandt used to romanticize Mike Alstott’s running highlights. Past winners for the Bucs have been Rachaad White and Baker Mayfield.
So of all people for Brandt to chose this past week, he chose a defensive player. A Bucs defensive player.
Brandt nominated Anthony Nelson, who had one of the greatest Bucs games for a defensive player in recent memory as the Bucs bodyslammed the slimy Saints on Sunday. Nelson damn near beat the slimy Saints all by himself.
But Brandt didn’t nominate Nelson for being a hero so much on defense. Brandt loved how Nelson, after he tipped a Spencer Rattler pass to himself on the slimy Saints-4, just brushed Rattler aside as if he was a handsy panhandler prowling the French Quarter late on a Friday night.
To Joe, Nelson looked like he went up for a rebound and boxed out Rattler as he came down with the ball.
Joe could watch Nelson’s play on a loop all night.
Unfortunately, Nelson did not win the scepter.

BOOOOOOO!
Come On Man! The other two nominees were boring, regular, running the ball. NOTHING SPECTACULAR ABOUT IT! Our Boy Nelson on the other hand… Spencer rattler Bounced Off Nelson and Nelson looked down AND SLAMMED HIM TO THE GROUND! Now THAT WAS a Bad Azz, GET OFF OF ME PUNK, ANGRY THROW DOWN!
Come ON Kyle! You’re getting BORING!

Most weeks I agree with Kyle, but Cooks’ run? Yawn. Nelson’s? Showtime. The hard-knock life of a Bucs fan—or player. Like Rodney Dangerfield of the NFL: we get no respect!

Love it, but he missed a good opportunity to have his first defensive player win it. None of the other nominees stood out so much that they demanded the win. The overall play by Nelson and then Rattler rattling off Nelson and the way he casually just walked across the end zone holding that ball like it was a softball, Awesome!

Nelly trucked Rattler and put him on his a$$. It wasn’t a box out or brush aside.

I think Nelson is more like 270lb, and poor little Rattler didn’t have a chance. Probably the only QB who would have had a chance was the fat (ie, good) version of Josh Freeman, since he was like 6′ 6″ 280lb at his peak.

How did he not win it? Outta my way kid! Rattler stayed down too. That was Scepter worthy all day Kyle!
Go Bucs!

Jamie Erdahl threw the scepter across the room and it shattered. RIP scepter.

I watched the play and Nelson kept it clean. He did not do anything dirty to Rattler. He sure could have as he is much taller and stronger than the NOLA QB. What a refreshing change!! An honest player getting a pick6 by using his skills and smarts.

Loved the elbow/push-off at the end – “GET OFF ME!”
Nelson should have won the Angry Run segment tho – if for no other reason than how impactful that play was.

Didn’t Devin White win as a defensive player?

Screw the scepter – NFC Defensive Player of the Week award coming.
