Will Gholston Says This Is The Year Of Logan Hall
September 5th, 2025
Budding stud?
You want a sleeper Bucs superstar? A former Bucs defensive lineman has one for you.
Gholston is not retired from his playing career after 12 seasons with the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay didn’t want him back this season. Todd Bowels and Jason Licht thought it was time to wave goodbye to another Tom Brady Super Bowl piece.
Gholston is coaching defensive line at Sickles High School in Tampa and he sat down for the No Off Days podcast with Scott Smith, the FOX-13 sports chief.
There, 34-year-old Gholston talked about the 2025 team and put his foot down when it came to one of his former colleagues.
“I love Logan Hall because I know this is the year, in my opinion, this is the year where he’s going to break out and really turn into that guy, like be the guy,” Gholston said.
This intrigued Joe for a few reasons. First, Gholston is not at Bucs practice, so why is he saying that? Well, it tells Joe that Gholston is talking to his former teammates — and that’s what they’re saying. Keep in mind Todd Bowles said Hall was “the best story of training camp.” Second, this is a way for Gholston to vouch for Hall’s work ethic.
Hall had five sacks last season and looked like an improved player, and he rarely played on third downs.
Joe’s rooting for Hall, but Joe would settle for him just having a stout game against Atlanta’s rugged run game on Sunday.

If Vea and Winfield are truly healthy, I see no reason why the D shouldn’t dominate on Sunday. Falcons didn’t see Dennis last year, didn’t see Parrish, didn’t see Reddick…apparently Kancey and Hall are the next big things and Elijah Roberts looks great.
No excuses.

Beat ATL!

I agree. I’ve been thinking the same. One thing for sure though, we’ll know what he’s made of by the end of this season. I expect him to step up pretty big for us. We’ll see..

5 sacks last year could easily turn into 10 this year. Would be great.

Believe it when I see it. Complete bum through 3 seasons.
Bum=Bust

It all hinges on Reddick. If he produces similar to what he did in Philly, then Hall, Kancey, and Diaby should wreak havoc! This COULD be a really good defensive front, IF Reddick proves to be the player JL though he bought in free agency.
BEAT ATLANTA!!!

I wanna see a fast, violent, aggressive, instinctive, and head’s up individual n team tackling from our players Sunday. That’s the type of performance the cowboys n eagles defense put on for the audience last night.

Hall and YaYa are stout against the run, but together they’re not big pass rushing threats. I’d like to see the SMU rookie Elijah Roberts come in on third downs to replace Hall at DT3. Robert’s is supposed to be a good pass rusher.
September 5th, 2025 at 3:45 pm
I like the look of our line…. Steady improvement from Logan and E. Roberts has looked promising. 🤞🏼 Hopefully we can hit the ground running @ Atlanta.
Stop the run, pressure (and sacks), win the turnover battle.
Then if our offense executes consistently we’re in good shape.

Until we see it, I’ll hold my applause. They ALL look good in the spring.
September 5th, 2025 at 4:07 pm
One thing I’ll say about Hall is he always seems to have a nice amount of sacks every year considering his limited playing time. He also appeared to be pretty stout against the run last year as well.
September 5th, 2025 at 4:08 pm
How great would it be if Logan Hall turned out to be a top quality D-Lineman in the NFL!
September 5th, 2025 at 4:18 pm
Hall is slightly better than most,a good guy to have
September 5th, 2025 at 4:34 pm
Let him rush from the edge, and he’ll be our leader in sacks. He’s a natural 4-3 D end. So is Roberts. Both need opportunities to rush from the outside.
September 5th, 2025 at 4:36 pm
voz is an upgrade at linebacker and parrish is better than merriweather… with reddick this defense has got to be better… dallas does not have a great defense but they held there own last night hopefully our upgrades make for a strong defense, logan hall is going to make some plays!!
September 5th, 2025 at 4:37 pm
I still would love a player behind Vea 🤙🏾
September 5th, 2025 at 4:49 pm
Still waiting on him to start tearing OLmen apart like Tommy Kelly was asked to do in Arizona. I like the idea of being able to rotate Logan & Isiah Roberts for the next few years if Hall can earn a new deal with us.
September 5th, 2025 at 5:07 pm
He has always been okay and he’s gotten better every year. Exactly what one should hope for in a second round 3-4 DE.
September 5th, 2025 at 5:28 pm
Actually the Bucs will probably end up putting Gholston back on the roster. Hope he is in shape when the inevitable injuries occur.
September 5th, 2025 at 5:31 pm
BTW Hall is going to blow up and have 10+ sacks this year. Because Todd thinks he is a training camp all pro. lol.

Did you watch the games last year? He looked decent in those games, IMHO.

Hodad … ‘Let him rush from the edge, and he’ll be our leader in sacks. He’s a natural 4-3 D end.’
Agree 100% Hodad. I’m hoping that when TB said this year’s defense will be different, that he meant using 4-3 schemes more this year than he has in the past. Can imagine what damage Hall & Kancey could do outside with Vea & Roberts rushing inside.
September 5th, 2025 at 6:58 pm
Logan Hall is a SOLID VET. He’s not going to breakout but he doesn’t have to.
LOOKING FOR A BREAKOUT STAR?
That’s CK. Kancey is going to dom-in-ate starting Game 1.

“I’m hoping that when TB said this year’s defense will be different, that he meant using 4-3 schemes more this year than he has in the past.“
4-man front yes, but the 3 LBs thing I highly doubt. That 3rd man in the box will 100% be Parrish who’s got the smarts, speed, and physicality to do all that you can ask from that position.
September 5th, 2025 at 8:05 pm
Interesting Kenton. I would have guessed Parrish could be in the box some — but plenty of other more seasoned types could also be in the box.
If I saw him in the box 100 percent of the time the Bucs switch to a 4-3 look, I might be checking to a Bijon run.
I look out to see if you are correct.

Geno
The beauty of the quarters D we play allows us to bring either safety or the NB into the back. Split the deep thirds-between and outside of the seams-into 4 zones in attempts to cap the deep routes while bringing all those pressure whether they be outright/simulated underneath.
Both Tykee & Winfield are capable of being “down”/box safeties, and if I had to bet money I’d say Parrish with his athleticism is capable of playing in space if we keep both safeties high. It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out and I wouldn’t be suprised to see all 3 do a little bit of everything in that regard.
Nickel personnel, but functions like a hybridized 4-3/3-4 depending on the play the offense runs. I’d love to see Parrish get a few sacks this season, wouldn’t be suprised by that at all.
September 5th, 2025 at 9:07 pm
He’s got a lot to make up for. So far, he’s just a place holder…just good enough to start, but not good enough to be a game wrecker. So, we’ll see. Have you noticed how many are in that category? Super Bowl type teams don’t have that problem. They’re loaded with men who go out and get it done consistently.
September 5th, 2025 at 9:52 pm
So many general managers and head coaches in here.
September 5th, 2025 at 9:56 pm
I’m right there with Gholston. He has steadily improved and I expect even more this year. The Bucs have the best three man defensive front in the entire NFL. If Yaya and/or Reddick ball out, look out!
September 5th, 2025 at 11:09 pm
@WLB
I wouldn’t be surprised if Parrish gets one in game 1…. And a pick 👍🏼
Hopefully Tykee is locked in and our safeties can become a strength again instead of the weakness they were last year.

Hall Showed Special Talent in a spurt or two year one !!! Hall has to get confident and own the moment ……. can’t happen if he hasn’t gained enough strength.Hall is not a total technician but has enough with good strength to dominate

LFG!

Hall is a natural 4-3 DE. Would love to see Bowles regularly flip the scheme to take advantage of some of the talent flexibility. How great would it be if even with the personnel in the huddle, the offense can’t be sure whether we’ll be in a 4-3 or a 3-4 until they come to the line. Constantly changing scheme and matchups. Now THAT would be genius.
September 6th, 2025 at 8:23 am
I saw major improvement from Hall as well. Mystery to me how you keep a guy with five sacks off the field on third down. That is kinda nuts!
Go Bucs!

We do this already.

After calling Hall a near bust early last season it would tickle me to death if he brooke out and had a double digit sack season and proved me wrong.
