“We’re Just A Bunch Of Blue-Collar Guys Down In Tampa”

September 8th, 2025

Baker Mayfield defines the Bucs’ image.

The face of the franchise shared his mug with Football Night in America about 30 minutes after the Bucs knocked off the Falcons yesterday to stand alone atop the NFC South.

Mayfield was asked about his winning touchdown throw to Emeka Ebuka and talked about how the Bucs were sure stud Falcons safety Jessie Bates would bit hard to double team Mike Evans on an in-cutting route, which would leave rookie Ebuka with 1-on-1 coverage on the end zone post route.

Team game. Team win. Mayfield’s always passing on the credit.

Analyst and former QB and Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett asked Mayfield about his moxie and how it might be rubbing off on teammates.

“Yeah, we’re just a bunch of blue-collar guys down in Tampa, Florida, trying to win ballgames, man,” Mayfield said.

Joe had to laugh a moment. Can you be a blue collar guy earning $30 million plus and spending a lot of free time on the golf course and pounding skinny margaritas? Somehow, Mayfield absolutely pulls it off.

In my humble opinion on this performance, it was not good enough, when they run into the Eagles, Rams, etc this will be a disaster, Baker should have had 2 Ints that the defenders dropped and overthrew many open receivers, I believe it is time to bench him and turn to Teddy “2 Gloves” Bridgewater who is very accurate and can lead us to victory, with Baker 3-14, with Teddy 11-6

  3. ReeeBarrr Says:

Really like the tone and vibe of this team

  4. Brooklynbuc Says:

    @jackmoff
The name says it all. Typical loser😆

  5. BucsfaninOregon Says:

I was thinking of all the Buc games where they lost time and again in some bizarre way and when Koo’s kick sales right I was stunned. WE GOT THE BREAK! For once the other team got screwed. At Last!

On a downer note: After watching the Buc-Atl game, the Bills-Raven game looked like a different game entirely.

I think the power right now is in the AFC.

  6. Godlovesbucs Says:

I will agree it wasn’t good enough against those teams. However, Atlanta also was very lucky.
Both our cb’s dropped an int.
    There were 2-4 missed sacks.
Penix lucky he didn’t fumble with how he was running and diving.

Even with how bad the offense was at times, any of those swing different and its not coming down to a kick. Think about it, offense played bad, defense got no brakes and no turnovers

We were beaten on offense (theirs played better)
We were beaten on defense (theirs played better)
It was at best a tie on special teams (on good k.r. but more missed kicks).

YET IT WAS A W. That is a great sign for this team.

    Egbuka Bazooka. Loaded.

It’s week one, everyone will improve.

🎶 Just some good ol boys….

  10. #99 the Big Fella Says:

Calm down Jack moff it’s the first game .we’re missing wide receivers offensive lineman. Baker didn’t even play in the preseason. Even coming out of there with a win people are still finding reasons to complain.

  11. Kenton Smith Says:

When you lose time of possession 35 minutes to 25 minutes and they get 75 snaps and you get 55 snaps you usually lose. So there’s that.

  12. Iamgusswayze Says:

“It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.”

    Go Bucs 🏴‍☠️

  13. Cobraboy Says:

No preseason game reps for starters, a bizarre makeshift OL, and you get some slop.

A win is a win. I expect better next week.

  14. RC Says:

He is a blue collar guy compared to what other QBs are making. Bucs guaranteed his money, now they need to lock him up, long term.

  15. heyjude Says:

This cracks me up! Sort of feeling like Baker has a little bit of a Springsteen vibe in him, only younger and not that rich. Blue collar.

  16. Trump's Swollen Ankles Says:

Yeah…sloppy, but a win. Go back and forth on the risk/reward of not playing in the preseason. I guess if you can get out of the first month at 2-2 you’re ok with it. Have to look at this as an extended preseason game.

  17. BuccaDAWG Says:

THE BUCS WIN!!!! First game with lots of starters missing we won!! Like Swayze says” it’s not how you start it’s how you finish” after all we are just a bunch of “Blue Collar guys WINNING FOOTBALL games” #1 After week 1. GOOOOO BUCS!!!!

  18. geno711 Says:

Jack Moff apparently did not look at the Rams or Eagles games and note all their issues in their first game.

  19. Aqualung Says:

Expect Griz to do better, now that his frankenstein O-line had one game to fuddle around. Also, questioning why keep Pornstache on the roster if he sucks that much to put three guys in new positionins with one new starter, instead of just one new starter?

  20. Jeff and Jack's grandpa Says:

My other grandson Jack is a bigger dipshzz then his brother Jeff

  21. Baking with Grizz Says:

Btw Rams Dline was all over CJ Stroud. I see another sack for Reddick.

  22. Marky mark Says:

Jack off moff you are an out of market troll. Teddy was out if football for a reason. Teams improve with more games.

  23. Paratrooper Buc Says:

Maybe it’s just me but I took the view that Baker is saying we aren’t a bunch of divas and we work hard, take care of each other while having fun.

  24. Jack Moff Says:

Actually Mark Mark and the Funky bunch, I’m a Tampa native with season tickets just because i do not jump of Bakers D like you do, I see it for what it is, Baker is an average QB and not what the Bucs need to move forward, Teddy while out of football and hurt is more accurate

  25. Gipper Says:

Ebuka did what a receiver is supposed to do–get open and catch the ball. Mayfield had a rough overall game but threw two perfect dimes to EE. Just the start of many to come in 2025. Just hope Baker can stay away from injury in 2025.

  26. ChiBuc Says:

Can you be a blue collar guy earning $30 million plus and spending a lot of free time on the golf course and pounding skinny margaritas?

    No. He’s an aura farmer

  27. Thomas Turner Says:

    Hi Joe,
I was on the road yesterday and I listened to a Sirius radio broadcast/with the Falcons radio guys, and when Vea came down on the qb (he had his hands up) and got flagged, the lead announcer said ” I could see Todd Bowles tellin his defense to hurt the new quarterback.” What? Does this kind of stuff go on everywhere? It seems like an attack on a person’s character. Or, this stuff just goes on.?

  28. Aqualung Says:

Hey Thoms Turner — wow, man that’s unbelievable. The Kenny Albert and the retired Saints LB clown said the call against Vita was bogus. I saw it with my own eyes. It was. And, why would you rather face Cousins if you’re Todd, after what he did to the Bucs last year?

One more reason to despise these douchebags. Thanks for firing me up.

  29. Mike Johnson Says:

Not bad considering we were in Enemy Territory with a hostile crowd. Our O line hung in there. And Our D line is showing signs of Life. Both Dennis and McCollum need to shake the dust off early. But I do believe they will get better. The Falcons are a good team. And we got help from the Foottball Gods. Baker never givs up. I like that. Lets send the Texans bull riding home.

  30. ballwasher61 Says:

Some peoples names that pop up here I don’t read their comments cause they live under the Gandy waiting for 3 Billy goats to walk by, why give em the satisfaction. Last time I write that.

  31. Buc1987 Says:

Don’t pay no attention to Jack Meoff.

The trolled picked the Falcons to win too.

  32. KABucs Says:

    Grandpa,
    LOL. Agreed.

And don’t believe he’s a season ticket holder. He’d have to prove it to me and I wouldn’t actually want to meet him in person, I have a life.

Got tickets to the Cardinals game Thanksgiving weekend for my birthday, though. Going to see it with my sons. Weather should be nice by then. LOL if it’s actually hot, it won’t be the kind of hot we got going right now.

  33. Davyboy Says:

Most people that complain and make half baked negative statements usually either don’t have a clue of what they are talking about or they are just run of the mill UF fans still pissed, always will be pissed about their hero qb being gone. That’s all right though, we will just continue to march on with our wins and our last minute 4th quarter winning drives. Because Baker and the boys are just gettin warmed up!! Let him talk because we are 1-0
    Let’s go Bucs!!!

  34. Bamboo138 Says:

    Jacks a moron

  35. orlbucfan Says:

Who in the h3ll is Jack Mott? This clueless yahoo claims he’s got season tix? I doubt that very severely.

  36. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

If Jack is a season ticket holder then he’s a bigger dipshiat clown than thought.

  37. DBS Says:

Jack has changed his name at least a dozen times.

  38. Marky mark Says:

Jack off moff your facts most roll and you seeking attention. His last two years prove Baker is a top10 QB. Even Stephen A says that. Teddy was cut by everyone because he sucks. I am not a Baker boi but teddy is not better. Trade for josh Allen and you win the argument.
