Vita Vea Still Out With Bad Foot

September 4th, 2025

Hurt.

Troubling times in the Bucs’ trenches.

One easily could say Tampa Bay is down its best two linemen: All-Pro left tackle Tristan Wirfs and Pro Bowl defensive tackle Vita Vea.

The Thursday injury report is out and Vea again is out with a bad foot. He’s yet to practice this week. Head coach Todd Bowles has not addressed the injury. The Falcons, Sunday’s opening day opponent, are one of the best running teams in the NFL.

Rookie cornerback Benjamin Morrrison remains limited in practice after returning after four weeks yesterday.

The good news is Cade Otton (groin) was full-go today after being limited yesterday. And edge rusher Haason Reddick returned after missing practice yesterday for a non-football reason. The full Thursday injury report is below.

Is he injured at the start of every year?

  2. David Kilmer Says:

Wow!! To many injuries and people out for this game no doubt. Sounds like Vea is doubtful at best for this game.

  3. buc4evr Says:

    Same old Sh*t, different season.

  4. AK Says:

    From Greg Auman:

    “Greg Auman
    @gregauman
Bowles doesn’t talk today, so we might not get much clarity on Vea’s foot injury until Friday. It was characterized as sore, and in the context of taking it easy during the week to put him in better position to play Sunday.”

  5. Aqualung Says:

    🤮

  6. ocala Says:

Thanks for posting that AK. I am surprised Joe misses out on content that Greg Auman seems to get.

  7. NJbucs23 Says:

How in the world does he have a bad foot and possibly not playing in week 1?

    Just how????

  8. Joe Sea Says:

    @NJbucs,

    He was probably playing football?

  9. Jeff Says:

Shaping up to be another lost season due to injuries. Bucs will lose 5 starters in their loss to Atlanta. No Vea, and Robinson will run wild. Look for a 200+ rushing yard day for Atlanta. Atlanta 38 TB 12.

  10. Ufcguy1979@gmail.com Says:

How are we injured literally doing nothing. These guys haven’t even played

  11. Pewter Pirate Says:

SI reporting it was just sore and it was a precaution so he is ready for Sunday. Anybody else see that?

  12. RagingBrisket Says:

When can we expect Kancey to be hobbled with a calf strain. Any day now, right?

  13. Pewter Pirate Says:

correct myself it was Greg Auman who said it was just sore and it was a precaution so he is ready for Sunday. Anybody else see that?
Sore things often stay sore or get worse.–Joe

  14. SlyPirate Says:

    Redick was at practice!!!

I trust his personal day went well.

  15. Beeej Says:

He was probably volunteering at an orphanage

  16. Defense Rules Says:

Bucs desperately needed to grab another beastly NT/DT this off-season to rotate in with Vea. And yes, to take his place when he’s out. And there were plenty of beasts out there; our front office & coaching staff CHOSE not to sign any of them.

Without Vea shoring up the middle of our DLine, Bucs have no pass rush, interior or elsewhere. We’ll be tied up playing the run. We’re extremely light now inside, and the better offenses should have a field day against this defense. Our saving grace depends upon our offense putting up a ton of points, making no turnovers, and owning the clock in the process.

  17. Mort Says:

Man yall think they’ve been doing “Nothing” for the past month and a half? They’ve been playing football almost daily. Relax.

  18. sandobuc Says:

non story, Vita is a vet and after weeks of training camp, he’s ready for week one

    He’ll play on Sunday

  19. Kgh4life Says:

Went through training camp without any issue and then this pops up, go figure.

  20. LakelandBuc Says:

A 350 lb defensive lineman can’t function with a sore foot. He need his footing to get off the ball. A sore foot will only slow his movement, which is crucial in Run Defense.

  21. Stpetematt Says:

It’s probably a blister. Will be fine by Sunday if they are resting it.

  22. Danny Mac Says:

Lots of negative Nancys in this world. Have fun watching the Bucs win from your mom’s basement. Hopefully she’ll at least make you some meatloaf.

  23. BucsFan81 Says:

This team can’t get out of its own way when it comes to injuries. On paper they are good but it’s rare to have all the starters playing at the same time.

  24. Pmike Says:

Probably just giving him his last days off before long season. These boys are playing for a long January run, rest up now.

  25. richbucsfan Says:

Ok, either the injury bug hitting the team even during the two week non-football break, I’m taking bets that #35 leaves Game 1 “injured”. Any takers??

  26. infomeplease Says:

Bring him into the sideline tent and give him a shot! Come on!

  27. DailyRich Says:

Otton being a full participant is a good sign.

  28. Vanessa Anne Says:

    What Defense Rules said.

  29. Jeffrey Becker Says:

gotta count vea and gaines as one guy and roster a third meatball

  30. MadMax Says:

Yeah, DR, def need to sign another huge NT. I wish Elijah Roberts was bigger. You never know, get him strong and put him in the rotation. Maybe bring Watson back to the PS and pull him up, see how he does. He might just play well on certain downs at his weight.

  31. David Says:

Just don’t spit on anybody as the game begins…

    *Jalen Carter. Unreal stupidity.

  32. Jmarkbuc Says:

I thought we signed one to the oS. From Baltimore. Jayson Jones?

  33. Kenton Smith Says:

David you’re right. Can’t imagine any of our guys doing something like that. And even though these teams are playing a good game I’m thinking we’d beat either of them. We’ll find out against Philly in 3 weeks.

  34. Cleanhouse Says:

Wondering if Bowles plays these guys too hard in the preseason

  35. Aqualung Says:

How bout that Bucs training staff? JL needs to conduct a league wide benchmark assessment of relative training staff performance. It’s at least 4th worst if not even worse, kinda like Todd’s pass defense.

  36. garro Says:

I seem to remember a bad foot for him some time back.

Is it the same foot? We get nothing from these guys on injuries and it is beyond frustrating for a fan like myself.

    Go Bucs!

  37. Aqualung Says:

This will certainly make it even less effective for Todd to drop him into 3 deep coverage. So of course The Genius will call it even more often. Surprise!

  38. Callingoutthelies Says:

Well here we go. Time to stop all the chatter and time for Bowles to do his thing. LOL. No excuses,Just win. Good luck to the Bucs. Try to stay healthy and no picks Baker. Yea

  39. Daryl Green Says:

He’s playing, if he’s out I have big problem with how the staff is running things.

  40. Jerseybuc Says:

Come on man with these dam injuries already!!!
Haven’t played a snap. Fingers crossed kancey is ready

  41. No Mercy Says:

Kinda weird how this dude is just miraculously injured, unless he’s been injured and we just haven’t known about it. Smells like Vegas
