Todd Bowles: I Thought We Took Our Foot Off The Gas

September 21st, 2025

So the Bucs defense had a 2024 flashback in the fourth quarter.

Perhaps it was a 2017 flashback?

Joe doesn’t know what to say or think. What happened today cannot happen, not against a relatively healthy Bucs defense and defensive guru head coach. The Jets struggled all game to that point with the Bucs’ blitz and backup turned starting Jets quarterback Tyrod Taylor wasn’t looking special.

Then the Bucs defense turned passive. The Jets’ final two drives were 10 plays for 80 yards (and a touchdown) and 11 plays for 73 yards (and another touchdown).

Their cushion evaporated and the Jets grabbed it with a blocked field goal/scoop-and-score by athletic freak defensive end Will McDonald.

After the thrilling Bucs win, Todd Bowles said the Bucs got carved up on short throws and turning five-yard gains into 10- and 15-yarders. And he added about his defense, “I thought we took our foot off the gas.”

Why? How? The Bucs defense should be getting hungrier late in a home game with a big lead. And no, the Bucs can’t blame the weather. Tampa Bay owned time of possession and should not have been gassed.

On the upside, the defense did enough early to have their late collapse not turn into an epic disaster.

  1. TheBucsAnthem Says:

You need to fire your conservative offensive coordinator

  2. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Baker can’t save the game every week now

  3. Nick Houllis Says:

I swear special teams are going to be the death of us….

  4. TheBucsAnthem Says:

I’m saying it right now.Josh grizzard, as an offensive coordinator sucks

  5. TheBucsAnthem Says:

There is offense has zero imagination in running the plays, it reminds me of clyde christensen when he was here

  6. Jerseybuc Says:

    That’s on you bowels!!!!
Said it two years ago when Harbaugh wanted back in they should have went out and got him.

  7. Muscle Hampster Says:

We wouldn’t be undefeated without Ebuka. We need a reminder of the virgins that called it a stupid draft pick

  8. Hunter Says:

    @TheBucsAnthem

Grizzard at this point is better than Coen or Canales were by week 3 of their seasons.

Do not forget how bad they started. And they weren’t missing all of these key players, either.

  9. ElioT Says:

One the most complimentary worst “wins” I’ve seen.

Defense totally folded after Dean’s pick-6 thinking the game was over.

    Lack of leadership.

Everyone got in on it and luckily Baker was Baker at the end.

  10. BucsFan81 Says:

Could have avoided that whole thing by going for it. Needed 1 yard to end the game. If you can’t get a yard you don’t deserve to win

  11. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

TheBucsAnthem, the Defensive Coordinator is the one who nearly blew the game.

  12. Sheen Says:

Offense was down 3 of their 4 top receivers with an Magruber oline. Do you actually read the posts or just come here to whine?

  13. Smashsquatch Says:

Ya think? You took your foot off the gas Todd!

  14. PSL Bob Says:

Bowles said I think we took our foot of the gas. Ya think? After we had a substantial lead, you began playing it safe on both defense and offense. I thought you’d left that mindset behind. Apparently not!

  15. Miller5252 Says:

I’ve never been a fan of Bowles being the HC. He has gotten better at it since taking over and working on things he’s not good at. But things like this drive me crazy. It’s the NFL, beat em by 50 and don’t give them any hope. With all the injuries this game was a must win. And while you had them down you just keep kicking them. I really hope Bowles, Grizz and all the young guys learned something today!

  16. QBKilla Says:

    The prevent defense was TERRIBLE!!!

  17. Robertg Says:

Remember, Bowles only calls the plays. He can’t help if players play soft.

  18. TheDude951 Says:

“We took our feet off of the gas pedal”

Isn’t that what Todd B does? Get the lead, rely on the defense to defend the lead and then try to run the ball to kill the clock when they have the ball.

    Classic Todd B coached teams.

  19. AK Says:

Grizz is calling games with one hand behind his back with a decimated oline..let’s give him a little leeway here.

  20. StormyInFl Says:

Getting on Grizzard is stupid. He’s got three nobodys on his offensive line. If the playcalling looks like this when he has Wirfs and Goedeke back, then complain.

  21. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Let’s all just be honest here.

The team really didn’t do crap after halftime. They just kind of gave up only until the last couple minutes of the game…….Other than that they were crap

  22. Keydoc Says:

WTF……makeshift offense line gets bullied, 14 penalties, insane defensive coaching 2nd vs 4th quarters, where is the killer instinct on this team, why so passive in the 2nd half, lot at what next weeks opponent did in the 4th quarter today. We need to be better on all levels next week or it will be embarrassing and ugly

  23. HC Grover Says:

Oh come on. This was the game plan. Close for the win with a run by Bakefield. Look at the play…total planned run…closer the better.

  24. StormyInFl Says:

Bowles went prevent the entire 2nd half. Why the hell won’t he step on their necks when they’re down?

  25. Colonel Angus Says:

Grizzard is still learning, only his 3rd game calling plays. He’ll figure it out. Injuries definitely ain’t helping him. Bucs are 3-0 not hitting on all cylinders. Just gotta stay afloat until we get healthy.

  26. Rusty Shackleford Says:

Just like with college football so far this year, the NFL too is mediocre. There is no really good teams. It’s a motley crew of disjointedness.

  27. Rod Munch Says:

Why? How? The Bucs defense should be getting hungrier late in a home game with a big lead. And no, the Bucs can’t blame the weather.

    ———

Watching it live from the TV angle, so I could certainly be wrong if the ALL22 shows something differently, the Bucs really didn’t let up on defense. On that first Jets TD drive, they played that garbage soft zone crap for the first few plays, and of course the Jets marched right down the field as if the Bucs weren’t even there. Bowles did call a blitz on the TD catch though. But outside of that drive, for the most part, they kept blitzing.

But I think that ultra aggressive play calling on defense actually did end up wearing out the defense, those guys on defense weren’t a lot more than usual, and it’s not like teams do 3-a-days anymore to get in shape, half their practices are in underwear, and inside. They just ran out of gas, those plays where guys were getting there in the 1st half and even 3rd quarter, guys were pretty clearly just gassed.

Just glad they got the win.

  28. Half_Sac Says:

Bucs anthem is an idiot. How do you expect to run against a elite front 7 with 4 of your 6 starters on the line out injured

  29. HC Grover Says:

Never put foot on the gas….

  30. Rusty Shackleford Says:

The team STILL does not have an edge rusher. Four sacks are nice, but unless you get consistent pressure off the edge then you have to manufacture a rush with blitzing which makes the rest of the defense much more vulnerable.

  31. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

Hey if anyone wants to feel a little better, head on over to the Falcons chats. They’re glorious.

The closest they got to the red zone today was the 31.

I know none of that excuses the bad we saw today, but it makes it a bit easier to manage

  32. Stpetematt Says:

Maybe Baker *can* save the game every week. Im starting to wonder. The guy is freaking amazing. Our family has a standing joke- “I wonder if he slid at the end of that run?” Because he never does. lol!

  33. HC Grover Says:

    Close is the game plan.

  34. Aqualung Says:

Todd. Look in the mirror. Who calls the defense. Oh that’s right, you do. Who is the defensive coordinator? Oh that’s right, you are. Who is the head coach? Oh that’s right, you are. Who does the DC report to? Oh we see. So you report to yourself.

Take yourself to the woodshed and give yourself a flogging, then submit your resignation tonight.

    What a pathetic fraud.

  35. TheBucsAnthem Says:

The reason why the defense was gased was because they couldn’t get off the field because the offense couldn’t sustain drives or finish them…..

    Totally went turtle 🐢

Bucs anthem is an idiot. How do you expect to run against a elite front 7 with 4 of your 6 starters on the line out injured.
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Agreed. Many of these people are idiots and shouldn’t be allowed to watch NFL games.

  37. Colonel Angus Says:

TV showed 130 degrees on the field, Defense was gassed in that 4th quarter. We need a dome, would help to keep fans in the seats making noise. We have zero noise advantage with everybody hanging out in the tunnels so they don’t burst into flames. Build us a damn dome! Or at least some kinda shade.

  38. Rusty Shackleford Says:

The Bucs and Jets have played games with some really bizarre endings over the years – the games in 2000, 2013, and 2021 prove that.

  39. RVATom Says:

Defense looked like they g9t tired and have up the effort. I assume the Coaches’ll do some talking with the Cpts and get minds right? But it also looked like that janky Bowles defense that lets completions happen over the middle with no apparent ability to stop them.

  40. Rusty Shackleford Says:

Colonel Angus: One of the many artists depictions of a possible RJS renovation includes one with a retractable canopy louver type system that resembles a sail from an old pirate ship.

  41. SBucs Says:

So much for Todd ‘Understatement’ Bowles

  42. View from 132 Says:

What a sham. Dungyball again. No killer instinct. Should’ve been a blow out against a horrible opponent.

  43. SBucs Says:

I wonder who the defensive coordinator?

  44. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    @ SBucs

It’s because todd bowles have seen this before. This is nothing new

  45. geno711 Says:

Like all NFL teams it seems these days, the Bucs defense looked tired in the 4th quarter.

It’s odd to me that some think we are bad by giving up 4th quarter points but think somehow that when we score points by our offense in the 4th quarter — those same posters think we are unusually great.

  46. Nutterbuccer Says:

For everyone bashing the offense and grizzard….do you see the oline…literally not one starter on the oline. Got two playing out of position..then backup tackle and 3rd and 4th string guards. Plus the entire wr core has gotten hurt once again…….can’t cook up anything on offense when the line is broken….

  47. Rusty Shackleford Says:

Just be glad we are not the Saints. Sheesh. Talk about a special teams embarrassment.

  48. Buc king Says:

    Wins a win…3 n 0
Face off the super bowl Champs next game
    Maybe wirf back maybe Godwin..
    Hopefully evans was cramping

  49. Marky mark Says:

The good news is when ever you need a sub 2 minute drive for a score even with scrubs and rookies at wide receiver and O Line Baker can do it. The bad news is why does it even Come to this?

  50. Colonel Angus Says:

Rusty, I was at that 2000 game vs Jets. Was a nut punch. We definitely need something, most home games are miserably hot. I don’t think it gives any advantage either. A canopy and some kind of system to move air around up top would be awesome.

  51. Rusty Shackleford Says:

Everyone needs to be grateful that we won. Back in the old days we would have lost a game like this.

  52. gotbbucs Says:

“Todd Bowles said the Bucs got carved up on short throws and turning five-yard gains into 10- and 15-yarders. And he added about his defense, “I thought we took our foot off the gas.””

Apparently he’s never gone back and watch film of any game he’s ever coached since he came to town, because this is how his defense performs week in and week out. Giving up short passes is his MO.

…and quit calling this dufus a defensive guru.

  53. Rusty Shackleford Says:

No September 1pm games. In fact, no 1pm games at home until mid-to-late October. Have the kick off at 4:35. Back in the old, old days early season home games would be at night and shown on local TV and if anyone has a recording of those then just know that you are sitting on a valuable lost media holy grail.

  54. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Todd bowles is great at calling Blitz plays but that’s about it

  55. Larrd Says:

Bowles took HIS foot off the gas. The Jets could not handle the blitz. Bowles stopped blitzing.

Special teams coach needs an intervention.

  56. Colonel Angus Says:

I know some of you people have a giant hate boner for Coach Bowles, but his team doesn’t panic. We are in every game we play and the players seem to love him. He ain’t going anywhere, so beat that thing off and relax. 3-0.

  57. SenileSenior Says:

So we can rely on Egbuka and Mayfield … and who got the pick six? Who? Goes to show you never can tell who are going to be the heroes week to week. Other than Baker, of course.

    Go Bucs!!

  58. MelvinJunior Says:

Yes. 💯. I was FURIOUS with how we ran our “offense” on our very first drive of the second half. We CONTINUE ‘running the damn ball’ UP THE FRICKING GUTT, time after time, & again and again, AGAINST 9-10 MEN all in the BOX, not even 4-YARDS within the line of SCRIMMAGE. I paused it and even took pictures of the IGNORANCE. Never had a CHANCE. It’s Insanity. No, it’s STUPID is what it is. Then, by the 4th-Quarter, I was like, WE DESERVE to lose this game. PERIOD. And, then WHAT HAPPENS NEXTTTT… Blicked FG return for a TOUCHDOWN. Just PATHETIC. Send the big bad Grizz back to the booth UPSTAIRS, if he’s that damned BLIND. It’s a joke. And, I don’t wanna hear about the blocking OR the penalties. Just GTFO. But, it’s exactly what Bowles Coached Teams ALWAYS, DOES. They get too complacent and conservative. Ya know, it’d be real NICE being able to put some teams away FOR ONCE, and maybe, just get our starters, and etc. the hell OUTTA THERE, and gettem some rest on a HOT damn day!!!!

  59. Inwoodjeremy Says:

Todd went turtle and tried to run out the clock. It’s who he is and what he does. With that said he is 3-0 and has been keeping the ship competitive. It’s almost Mike Tomlin- ish or Dungy-ish. He gets in the playoffs and nothing else happens. At least so far, but 3-0 feels good now. On a side note EE looks like #1WR he is a step faster than everyone else and has great hands. I think his last catch that he caught was inbounds and because it was ruled incomplete on the field the call stood as called.

  60. UGotRobbed Says:

Same old Bowles coached defense! 21 points given up in the 4th quarter to a sorry team with a backup quarterback! Pathetic!
    Thank God for Baker!

  61. unbelievable Says:

You did take your foot off the gas. On both sides of the ball.

    Gee, whose fault is that?

  62. MelvinJunior Says:

@Jerseybuc – I did too, about Harbaugh. Whatever it took. I mean, they wouldn’t have done it anyway, but once the Chargers became a serious option for him, he was NEVER coming to Tampa Bay over LA and Herbert. Noooo Way.

  63. 813bucboi Says:

Defense took their foot off the gas….that on you Todd…no excuses

Winfield played great…yaya starting to show up

    GO BUCS

  64. JustVisiting Says:

29 points on offense should win a game in the NFL; 27 on defense should lose it.

  65. Davenport Says:

Says the guy who’s job it is to make sure the team maintains a high level of intensity for the full 60 minutes.

2021: young stars entering their prime

2025: a useless HC who’s wasted their prime

This needs to be Todd’s last year. He’s a dollar store Tony Dungy and the team needs someone to step in to push this team further.

  66. Outrigger Says:

Thought we got conservative on both sides of the ball in the 2nd half. First and goal from the 10 and we run up the gut on 1st and 2nd down for no gain. Continuously ran Buck into a stacked line the whole 2nd half. Defensively we quit blitzing which is on Bowles.

  67. Aqualung Says:

This fraud should not be a Bucs employee by tomorrow start of business.

  68. Jerek Says:

Running the clock down at the final minute and a half and taking a knee to kick the field goal rather than getting a TD while in the red zone was absolutely infuriating. You were in a really good rhythm, as you were the past few games in the final minute. Just get the TD!

  69. Outrigger Says:

Any word on Evan’s injury? I will say Sheperd has stepped up big time this year

  70. Jmarkbuc Says:

I would ask Todd, who is “we”

You gotta mouse in your pocket ?

  71. Obvious One Says:

Whatever dud! Gomer and his “chicken little” strategy he pulls out EVERY GAME!

“I think we took our foot off the gas”????? NO MISTER! YOU BLEW IT BY YOURSELF AGAIN! YOU OWE, OWE BAKER MAYFIELD! YOU OWE HIM!

Just shut Gomer and GET A CLUE ON HOW TO WIN GAMES LIKE TRUE HEAD COACHES DO! We hadn’t had close games until YOU came along and Now EVERY GAME is Close UNLESS we’re just getting the crap kicked out of us!

I could DEFINITELY go for an Offensive, CLOSE THE GAME OUT IN A “NO DOUBT” STYLE FOR A CHANGE…

This guy just PIS@ES ME OFF!

  72. Inwoodjeremy Says:

    Livecast listed it as hamstring.

  73. Pewter Power Says:

“I thought we took our foot off the gas.”

That’s all you got Bowles? That’s all you got for the fans who walked back their disgust for the way you run your defense?

  74. DBS Says:

Sure. The Glazer’s would fire a winning Coach. Like stupid people here would.

  75. SmokyMountainBucsFan Says:

    Bucs are 3-0 crybabies

  76. Defense Rules Says:

Baker won the 1st game 23-20 for us with the comeback TD pass to Egbuka with 0:59 seconds left against Atlanta.

Baker won the 2nd game 20-19 for us by driving us down the field so that White could run for the TD with 6 seconds left against Houston.

Baker won the 3rd game 29-27 for us by again driving us down the field so that McLaughlin could kick a FG with 3 seconds left against New York.

So the margins of victory have been 3 points, 1 point & 2 points in those 3 games … 6 points TOTAL … with us scoring 17 points with only 1:08 total left in those 3 games. Kinda feel like there’s some luck involved there.

Bucs had 14 penalties today, yes 14, for a total of 124 yards in penalties. We ran the ball 34 times, for a total of 122 yards. Yup, we actually had more yards assessed against us in penalties (124) than we got in running the ball 34 times in the game (122). I can’t fathom a team running for over 100 yards but actually getting penalized more than that.

  77. DEFF JEFF Says:

Saying Josh Grizzard sucks is so comical, and so delusional, and so Tampa. He is playing with 1 capable lineman who is playing left tackle instead of guard or center, a hobbled Egbuka, EVANS went out of the game, a fierce DL, and they okayed a road game Monday night. DUDE called a great game and they had it won and then had to win it again. You guys are delusional complaining about his offense. Typical couch potato fandom. Go ahead, fight me and look even dumber

  78. Capt.Tim Says:

We had the game put away. Until our lousy special teams gave up their second TD in 2 weeks.

We have to fire our special teams coach.
He sucks, and doesn’t belong in the NFL

  79. MelvinJunior Says:

I would seriously, consider sitting Baker next week against a completely ‘healthy’ Philly-Defense, versus our ‘make-shift’ O-Line. IF, Mike is “Questionable,” then that should be an easy decision, too… Hell, give LaVonte an extra week off. He’s ‘looking like’ he could really use-it! And, no way in HAIL, I’m playing Wirfs OR Chris. Since, they wanted Teddy so damn bad, then fricking USE HIM. I’ll take 3-1 and rested and healed up ANYDAY, versus a ‘potential’ 4-0 and all beat the hell up… Especially right now, with how the season and schedule is shaping up!!!!

  80. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

Seems to me Grizzard also called all the plays that were called back for penalties as well as the plays that were dropped by Mike and EE.

    Or do they suck too?

  81. Curse of Gruden Says:

    You don’t say?

  82. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    @ DEFF JEFF

what games have you’ve been watching for the last three weeks because it wasn’t the Bucs!

  83. Curse of Gruden Says:

MelvinJunior – I like your plan.

  84. Aqualung Says:

Jets were 1-144-1 in games where they failed by 17 or more points. Guess who tried to double their win total on that win number?

The fraud who should be fired that’s who.

  85. John J Barse Says:

you took your foot off the gas when you stopped blitzing in the 4th quarter. this is on you Bowles

  86. Aqualung Says:

    Trailed

  87. HC Grover Says:

    Go Away Todd.

  88. SmokyMountainBucsFan Says:

Defense rules did you miss the practice squad players out there today? Be glad they’re going home with the Dub!

  89. Jeffrey Becker Says:

you took your foot off the gas todd. you. admit it if you want respect.

  90. J Says:

We’re decimated by injuries so the offensive coordinator sucks narrative is weak at best.

  91. Defense Rules Says:

For all those anti-Todd JBFers, a couple easy questions:

1 – When was the last time a Head Coach with a 3-0 record was fired for incompetence?

2 – And if Todd was fired (which borders on absurd BTW), who takes his spot as Bucs’ Head Coach? And who takes his spot as Bucs’ Defensive Coordinator?

  92. stpetebucsfan Says:

    @ Aqualung

When I return to this page as I will later in the year. I just wish to make sure I’m comprehending.

On one post you said they should fire Bowles tomorrow and now once again you call for his firing.

So if he goes on to reach the playoffs and win a first round game we can all feel free to come here and rub your face in it?

  93. MelvinJunior Says:

@DEFF JEFF – You must be both “deff” AND blind, then. What is the combined record of the three teams we’ve played, thus far!? NOT exactly, murderous row, here! THIS ‘defensive’ performance by the JETS today, was THEIR BEST all season. And, the ATL gave up 35 to the PATHERS, today! We needed an INT returned for a Touchdown from DEAN, of all people. AND, a ship-ton of FG’s.

  94. RuKa_44 Says:

“I thought we took our foot off the gas.”
Right there with you Todd!!! Unacceptable!!! Who is the incompetent that is leading this Defense?!?
    …. Oh, wait!!…

  95. LakelandSteve Says:

Give our offensive coordinator a break. He was working with an offensive line missing three starters. If anyone can remember all the holding penalties in the first half. Thats because our offensive line was getting beat like they stole something. He had to call plays with that in mind. When we have our starters back minus Mauch then get on him if the offense doesn’t produce.

  96. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

I’m not a Bowels fan, but fellas, he’s 3-0 with UPS guys on the offensive line and lots of other injuries. Relax…..Stay the course!

  97. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“It’s odd to me that some think we are bad by giving up 4th quarter points but think somehow that when we score points by our offense in the 4th quarter — those same posters think we are unusually great.“

    100% agreed

I’d also say the sentiment towards offensive injuries in comparison to how they’re judged when defenders get hurt is almost night and day, from that same crowd.

I like late game heroics as much as the next fan, but I’d also like to see that same fire and urgency midway through the 2nd to the start of the 4th qtr.

We’ll be hard to beat with the players we’re getting back and IF both sides of the ball can give us their best at the same time.

Our D won’t get the credit they should for this win, partly because of their role in making the late game heroics necessary.

  98. Shak Says:

I’m down for giving Baker credit for making the plays in the clutch we needed to win these games. We needed every moment and he delivered (others too)! I’m not down for pretending the defense hasn’t been really good for us up until the 4th today! Take away the two winning TDs week 1&2 and the offense struggled to hit 20pts! Defense literally did their jobs all game to keep us in all 3 games, up until they gave up 2 TDs in the 4th. That 3rd TD was on ST. Let’s not forget the field position the offense pissed away a couple times. One of the TD’s was from the defense, so they scored 16pts on offense! It took a “meltdown” of 21pts TOTAL for yall to pretend like the defense has been trash this season. BS!

Can’t give up 2 TDs in the 4th knowing the offense has struggled every game so far. You got to hold on every game because there are no excuses for you, we only reserve that for the offense.

  99. Kenton Smith Says:

On one of their tds the ball hit the ground. Shouldn’t have been a TD. Dean hit a pick 6! Turnovers and defensive stops!! If not for that blocked FG we cover the spread and win 29-20. At least the kicker is right. Offense will never get rythm with that many penalties. Offensive Line has to get a little better. Those holding penalties kill drives and rhythm. Those dropped passes kill drives. Overall a great game!

  100. Shak Says:

Numbers a little off but it was still a struggle all game in each game just to score around 20pts.*

  101. Beeej Says:

I saw zero blitzes on those 2 drives

  102. DBS Says:

Eagles had to block a FG to win today. Green Bay got beat. Bears are pounding the Cowgirls. Panthers pounded the Falcons. Lots of games not as people expected today. We put up 29 points and won. I’ll take it to be 3-0.

  103. Dubcity6 Says:

To all the negativity, I say.. 3 and 0 woooo.. let’s go!!!

  104. exBrowns02 Says:

Todd is Todd. Grizz is a cerebral play-caller. The challenge that he’ll face is injuries resulting from him playing chess instead of sometimes being more aggressive.

But aggressive play-calling can also be very risky.

So far we’re coming out with the “W”, but we’ll need a different approach in dealing with the Eagles.

  105. MelvinJunior Says:

HOW MANY ‘Touchdowns’ did THIS Offense score today!? Hell, how MANY do they have through 3-GAMES, against teams with a combined record of 1-8!?

  106. Bartow Buc Says:

Grizz needs to cover his mouth when he calls the plays !! They are reading lips and trying to steal plays constantly.

I noticed the defense seemed to let up, there was not as much pressure on the quarterback, I just chalked it up to Todd Bowles changing his strategy, or the Jets offense had adjusted to the defensive scheme.

Nevertheless, Bucs Win ! Bucs Win !!

  107. Ugotrobbed Says:

Killer instinct…right Todd!! You’re the HC who says you want your players to have “killer instincts”! Then why did you go to a prevent defense after halftime!? You’ve talking out of both sides of your mouth!

@aquaiung. your ignorance is beyond belief! You obviously never played and don’t understand the challenges they faced with the injuries. Sounds like you lost $ on the game and are the troll you ate.

Horrible offensive play calling in the late 3rd and 4th quarters. Continually running to the left side was nuts. Running every first down was also dumb in the 4th. Grizz needs some help.

If a team takes the foot of the gas is because of Coaching.
This happens a lot of times.
When the Defense is passive we see that this is the result time and time again. Short passes curving up the Defense and its not only because of miss tackles. The receivers in these passive zones are always open for the short passes since our coverage is always 5 yds away from the receiver who catches the ball. This Defense still has no 4 man pass rush, any pressure depends on the blitz. But even then we can see many times that a blitz is called and the DBs are sitting 10 yds off the receivers. That is insane. We defeat our own blitzes when we play like that.
I m not saying we should blitz all of the game but the coverage must be tighter. The Defense has to be more aggressive. When we play passive we always see 10+ plays drives that end up scoring points.
It is the 3rd game in a row that the Defense starts passively and giving up points on the first drives.
If we dont change our philosophy and approach we will continue to see the same things. Dont be afraid to play. Dont be afraid to be aggressive. Take the game over instead of waiting to see what happens.
    Go Bucs
