Not only is PPR not obsolete, it’s the only way to fly. Ask the World Championships of Fantasy football. The point of PPR is to make many more players draftable and playable- which takes away the huge advantage of picking early or getting 2 of the top 15 players. I only play WCOFF style leagues which are 1 QB/2RB/3WR/1TE/1Def/1K and 1 flex RB/wr/te. Since you have to start 3 and often 4 WR’s they are much more draftable as is typical. If you watch how drafts flow, it’s still the best for spread of high amounts of points removing draft position from being a big advantage.

I am not a PPR fan. Of course, when I started fantasy football and we scored by hand in 1988, there were no PPR stats available.
The idea of PPR as Stpetematt says was to make some more players draftable and actually score some more points.
Actually, many WCOFF, and other style leagues are moving away from PPR to PPFD leagues which I support. It’s still a game so anything is acceptable — but to me it is fairer to give points for 1st downs over points for receptions.
I play in more than most but probably less than Stpetematt — I play in 4 distinctly different types of scoring systems. Have a roto style, a ppr, a ppfd, and a touchdown heavy league.
My 1988 league (currently sitting at 14 teams) is still going on strong despite two of the folks passing away — the good news is we don’t have to score it ourselves any longer.
