Luke Goedeke Is Questionable; Chris Godwin, Tristan Wirfs Out

September 13th, 2025

Questionable for Monday.

Joe understands how folks got super excited with the news that both Chris Godwin and Tristan Wirfs returned to practice this week.

But reality has set in. The sugar rush of hope that Godwin and Wirfs could suit up Monday night when the Bucs travel to Houston to play the Texas has worn off.

Bucs coach Todd Bowles this afternoon ruled Godwin and Wirfs out, per Briana Dix of Buccaneers.com.

On the good news front, Bowles, per Dix, said right Luke Goedeke, who did practice today for the first time this week, is questionable for Monday’s game. The key, per Bowles, is how he works out prior to the game.

Goedeke has an injured foot. On Thursday in the Bucs locker room, Joe saw the following: (Feel free to connect any dots you wish.)

Goedeke walked out of the locker room. He was not using any apparatus (cane, walker, foot cart, etc.). He did not have a foot wrapped. He did not have on tape. He walked out barefoot, wearing only sandals. Joe did not detect a noticeable limp.

More time off for CG13 and TW78 will only improve their impact when they do return. Come back strong men! Come back strong!

  3. infomeplease Says:

    Sorry I meant CG14… Correction!!

  4. Mort Says:

Tristan and CG need to actually have a full practice before they’re back. Maybe week 3. Guess we shall see. I bet you Luke plays. Cannot wait for MNF.

  5. Stpetematt Says:

    Probably a blister.

  6. BucsOnDeck24 Says:

Bowles is prolly just playing mind games with the opposing DC until Wirfs gets back.

  7. Tucker Says:

Hopefully they sign some good back ups because shifting starters around can’t be a long term plan if they get hurt playing out of position then the bucs will really got a mess on their hands.

I’m glad someone could translate some of today’s pressers. The sound was so pitiful–the worst ever.

  9. Buc2Blame Says:

As soon as this Team extends a player AS SOON AS THEY EXTEND A PLAYER….. BOOM 💥 injuries.

Have ***heard*** but do not know how accurate this is at all that Goedeke has an injury to the top of his foot. Know zero further but if that is true, sounds like he got stomped on.

    Now Rod can rest easy…

  12. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Joe, perhaps a bruise? All those big guys fighting in the box for leverage at full tilt and Goedeke might’ve taken one too many size 15s or > to the top of his own foot?

I read post-practice he was walking in chanclas, with no type of boot/PPE on.

  13. Outrigger Says:

If I was the Bucs I would sit Wirfs out until the Philly game. Don’t need him against the hapless Jets. Godwin will probably not play until mid October.

  14. Lightningvinny Says:

I agree , Luke will play Monday,,, Sit Tristin till Eagles ,,, the AFC games are important but we need our guys ready for NFC match ups

I think we will be better this MN. Some of the rust got shaken off in Atlanta. This injury report does not shock me. Wirfs and Ungodly Godwin are being allowed to get 100% well. Man, I recall too da##ed many losing seasons when that was not the case. Now, if I can talk my old carcass into staying awake to listen to the game??? 2-0, Bucs!!

  16. Bojim Says:

Well I would hope nobody would think they were playing Monday. If Luke doesn’t look 100 percent keep him out too. OK. 90 percent.

  17. Hodad Says:

I’ve been saying for a long time Wirfs will debut week 3 against the Jets at home. They were never going to have his first game back on turf. Same with Godwin.
