Luke Goedeke May Miss “Multiple Weeks”

September 16th, 2025

Injury status.

The key words here are “possibly” and “multiple.”

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN had sort of an update on Bucs right tackle Luke Goedeke today. The injury Goedeke suffered last night is unclear but Fowler notes Goedeke aggravated the foot issue he struggled with last week. So Goedeke could miss more than one game. Still rather vague.

The injury is not considered “major,” per Fowler, so that is good news.

Does this will mean Goedeke wil join fellow tackle Tristan Wirfs on the shelf for an undetermined amount of time?

Thank goodness the Jets don’t have two beasts coming off the edge like the Steers had Monday night.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  2. Jeff Says:

See ya in SIX weeks! Same time frame as Godwin.

  3. BucsFan81 Says:

Damn we need Wirfs back right now. Having 2 Starting Tackles out is a disaster. I hope Jason is ready to make some deals with the Injuries piling up

  4. BucVoyager Says:

So we have to survive with Charlie “what the” Heck until he comes back. Hopefully Baker can stay off IR.

  5. Easy The Great Says:

Its a long season and we need these guys healthy. Barton and Heck held their own Monday Night!

  6. TB_MikeB Says:

Think it’s time to push Tristan out there. He’s extremely important, but can’t let 2-0 be an excuse to let Baker get killed out there

  7. Newbie Says:

Hey, Bucs need to mirror second half game plan from last night – pound the rock and short pass gm. Defensively, shut down Breece Hall and CONTAIN Tyrod and or Fields. Keep them in the damn pocket.

  8. Rob Says:

Put Wirfs back in and slide Barton to RT. That said, Heck actually performed well at RT from what I could tell. Looked like he got great push in the run game and didn’t see any obvious beatdowns on pass protection.

  9. Saskbucs Says:

Barton struggled and Heck clearly gave them no confidence. It looked like Brady ball play calling from 2022 when Goedeke went down. Run run screen. Grizz and Baker terrified of passing reps where he is likely to get murdered.

I like Barton but this is hurting his development at C and was hoping he would be a little more stout at LT. These injuries are brutal. We would have beaten Houston by 2 scores and likely same this week with a healthy OL.

  10. Lt. Dan Says:

ok – not good news but not the worst. Goedeke and Wirfs probably come back for the Eagles game.

  11. Joe Sea Says:

This isn’t that bad of news. Out for a few weeks is survivable if Wirfs is back this week or next.

People seem to root for the demise of this team.

  12. David Says:

Damn. The starting offensive line was a strength of this team now it’s a weakness. The Jets still should be no problem, but the Eagles are after that and that is a major problem.

Heck did not do anything to impress. Hopefully they are looking at the waiver wire right now.

  13. Gipper Says:

Skule would come in handy right about now.

  14. jcscycles Says:

Sounds like an arch sprain. This takes 1-2 weeks in a mild sprain and 3-6 with a moderate. He will get the best treatment and care available, so optimistically I’m going to say 1-3 weeks. The uncertainty is how he responds to treatment. In hindsight, he probably should not have tried playing yesterday, but I’m sure Luke wanted to try and push through it.

I focused on Heck for about 15 plays yesterday and he did not look to bad, especially in pass blocking. He locked his man up , then pushed him out and around to form a pass pocket.
I’d say Graham Barton had a harder time on his side.

That’s possibly the best defensive line in the league, and in the end we beat them. Looking ahead, the challenge would be in the Eagles, Seahawks, 49ers, and Lions. But he cou;d be back for the Hawks.

And the Bucs will have time to scheme up some better blocking plans instead of adjustin mid-game.

  15. Permanently Moderated Says:

Jeff, I’m surprised you commented after your ridiculous takes before the Texans game. We’ll count on you being wrong once again.

  16. ocala Says:

I am guessing Wirfs will play this week, and Heck will be the RT for the next couple of weeks until Goedeke comes back.

I also am guessing Godwin is back for the San Francisco game.

  17. Jmarkbuc Says:

Hey if you have to take a loss to the AFC Jets, better than the hated NFC Eagles.

If we come through the first quarter 3-1 or 2-2, considering our injuries. I’d call that a win.

  18. Richard Says:

Why do we have to get injury and other pertinent information about our players from national sources like espn? I’ll never understand the lack of information about our local teams…especially the Bucs…has to come like that. Where the hell are our local guys/ gals? It’s just ridiculous in my opinion!

  19. Jmarkbuc Says:

IF. And it’s a big if, Tristan came back this week, wouldn’t you put Barton at RT, since he did ok on the left.

Then run all three RBs a TON.

  20. buc4evr Says:

Of course, every single year. A whole roster of injuries.

  21. SB~LV Says:

    My .02
    Lisfranc

  22. teacherman Says:

Mauch needs to move to RT.

Mauch was a LT in college and a TE in high school.

    Mauch has very fast feet.

Mauch has been a RG for 3 years

Mauch is much faster than Heck.

    Mauch needs to play RT.

    Heck is 6-8.

    Baker is 6-1.

Heck was a bad signing in every way.

We need to draft a legit swing tackle in the 2nd round next year.

    A 3rd tackle is a VITAL player.

When tackles go down? Super Bowls are lost.

    Ask the Chiefs and Mahomes.

We destroyed them because they started 2 backup tackles.

Mauch is an our fastest option.

    Mauch at RT.

  23. DungyDance Says:

Maybe we need to make our formations heavier with TE’s for a while, until the line gets healthier. And I guess it’s a good thing Heck was available to sub in. What else are we going to do, line up a punter?

  24. Steven007 Says:

Gipper, Skule was abysmal at right tackle with us. Only slightly better had left. Heck played poorly against the past but he’s a better option than Skule would have been.

  25. Coconut Doughnut Says:

Losing Kancey is going to hurt

  26. SlyPirate Says:

Thank God we play The Jets next.

Can we just give Philly the win and avoid more injuries?

  27. Jeff and Jack's grandpa Says:

Ben Chumara time at least he has great feet

  28. Gofortheface30 Says:

When did the f’ing timeline change for Wirfs? It has been stated forever that he will be back for week 3. Now…he won’t? We can assume because we’re playing g the jets things will be fine. Stupid. Anyone can be had at any time – missing two tackles is a serious issue. Baker keeps getting hit like that and is out for the year = season over. Charlie heck is a decent run blocker but he was an absolute disaster as a pass blocker.

  29. Fred Says:

    Why so many injuries?

  30. Gofortheface30 Says:

Yeah you’re right sly pirate – let’s just have the players never play ANY games so that way nobody ever gets hurt! Let’s just be subservient to Philly, call them daddy and give them the W. Jesus Christ…See your doc, have them prescribe some TRT, get some testosterone flowing in those veins

  31. Winny Testaverde Says:

May have jumped the gun on extending him early…especially with his history of concussions. I get the logic…only time will tell.

  32. Bucs4Ever Says:

Too many injuries…we treat these guys like glass during the pre-season

Go back to the old ways…hit and get hit…this non-contact crap is worse

  33. MikeCK Says:

I seriously think we should consider pulling Baker for the week and starting Trask if we don’t get either one of those two tackles back. We can’t afford to lose Baker and he was getting absolutely murdered back there all night. Very disappointing that if we lose two offensive lineman, the whole entire offensive line collapses. I mean we’re not the first team to lose a couple offensive lineman. It shouldn’t be that bad.

  34. Permanently Moderated Says:

    Problem is Trask is gone.

  35. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Molecular

    Lay off the drugs

  36. Kenton Smith Says:

Someone finally finds some playing time for Kyle but it’s too late.

  37. Jmarkbuc Says:

    *MikeCk

How that turned into molecular, I have no idea

  38. Canabuc Says:

We need Wirfs back if Goedeke is out.

  39. BuccinBaker6, Says:

The Bucs simply just match up really well with the Eagles an it’s worked out for us last cpl.times.we have played them so

  40. Pickgrin Says:

I say put Chukwuma out there at RT… I bet he’s better than Heck right now!

At least try him for a few snaps next game and see how the rookie looks…..

  41. Sooner1981 Says:

I read someone say to put Wirfs back at right tackle and keep Barton at left until Godeke gets back. Sounds like an interesting take.

  42. chark Says:

Teacherman brings up good points about mauch and valid. If no wirfs and goedeke, would this be the best option= LT barton, klein, bredeson, jordan, and mauch at RT ? Thoughts?

  43. chark Says:

Could heck and haggard fill in as backup gameday guard /tackle experience. And are they better than klein and or jordan. Heck and jordan have got some game action this year, not sure about klein getting live reps yet

  44. Scotty Mack Says:

Sooner 1981 – Exactly what I was going to propose. Wirfs was a Pro Bowl Right tackle and Barton seems to be better at left tackle than Heck would be at either outside spot. Move Wirfs (when he returns) back to his original RT position and leave the rest of the line as it is until Goedeke is back.

Chark/Teacherman – Not a fan of putting Mauch at right tackle. Wirfs will tell you how much time and effort he put into switching from right to left. Everything is the opposite from which hand you punch with to your feet placement. It would be an utter fail, I fear.

Gipper – Have you watched Skule this year for the Vikings? He looks terrible, just like he did in that first game last year against the Lions.

  45. Bucsfan Says:

The upcoming game with the Jets puts the Bucs squarely in a very similar situation coming home at 2-0 to face a winless Jets team much like facing Denver at home in game 3 last year at 2-0 and promptly getting Poleaxed by 19 as the Broncos soundly thrashed us. Coaching staff must guard against another letdown. Definitely time to test drive Chukwuma and see what you have or do not have.

  46. chark Says:

A win is mandatory…we gotta beat the jets and tyrod taylor. I feel Mauch and Barton are by far the most athletic options with game experience and position(tackle) experience. Mauch does play on the right side at guard. Everything is a risk, our coaches will hopefully put the right 5 together. Maybe heck will be better this week with some action monday nite. Damned if u do,, damned if u dont. I dont know the answer.

  47. LouisFriend Says:

    SB~LV Says:

    My .02
    Lisfranc
    *************************
Agreed, and apparently it’s without any broken bones. If Goedke starting was a pain tolerance test – a Lisfranc injury will win every time, and it was a *huge* mistake to allow him to go on it. They have to heal. The longer you aggravate it the worse it gets.

  48. Ryan Smith Says:

Wonder if Wirfs comes back this week if Klien could play Center and move Barton to RT. I’m against keeping Barton at LT if Wirfs is healthy. I want my best Olineman blocking the Blindside for Baker.
