Luke Goedeke All-Pro? “Difficult” But Possible

September 5th, 2025

All-Pro material?

This week Bucs right tackle Luke Goedeke signed an extension with the Bucs. His new salary is said to be the fourth-highest of all NFL right tackles.

Not bad for a guy who started out as a Division-III tight end.

As his salary suggests, Goedeke has developed into one of the best. But being a good right tackle isn’t his ceiling, said Sam Bruchhaus of Sumer Sports.

This Sumer Sports, a stat outfit co-founded by former Dixie Chicks and now current slimy Saints football executive Thomas Dimitroff, published a video recently discussing offensive linemen.

There, Bruchhaus suggested it’s not crazy to think that Goedeke could reach All-Pro status this fall.

“I think that Luke Goedeke, the right tackle for the Buccaneers, especially given Tristan Wirfs is out for the first couple weeks, if we see no fall off from Bucky Irving, we see no fall off from Baker Mayfield … where, it’s just like, OK, these are two of the better tackles.”

Bruchhaus is correct. If the Bucs still have a solid offense and the Bucs are putting up numbers, including wins without Wirfs, that’s going to indirectly put more of a spotlight on Goedeke and he’ll get more exposure.

Bruchhaus said it will be tough for Goedeke, who he described as “excellent” to overcome the image, especially in the northeast where Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson is considered the gold standard.

“The problem [with Goedeke being All-Pro] is [he has] to be better than Lane Johnson, which is very difficult,” Bruchhaus said. “So, you know, I’d love to see [Goedeke] make an All-Pro team.”

Another road block for Goedeke, he said, is Lions right tackle Penei Sewell, also a top-shelf tackle.

Very proud of this Road Grader! Rough start in the wrong position. Look at him now. What a HUGE difference.

  2. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Hard to believe the Idiotic Bucs fans wanted him run off.

Gotta give Licht and the coaching staff their props. We all remember rookie year when he was at Guard. We couldn’t wait to get this guy off the team. Now look at him as one of the top RTs in the game. Gotta love a coaching staff and front office with enough brains to figure things out and do what’s best for the team

  4. Teflon Don Says:

@buccaneer bonzai I wouldn’t call those fans idiotic. This guy was atrocious at guard his rookie year

  5. garro Says:

If he can get the refs to stop throwing bogus flags in his direction, for sure.
He has improved massively the last two years. This could be a Big year for our whole line.

    Go Bucs!

I remember the hate for him as a rookie then, whoops, come to find out the team had him at the wrong position, which I heard a few on this site say. But the line from that year was a mess. He doesn’t have to be better than Lane, just be the best Luke you can be and that will be great, focus on that kid. Looking back it’s obvious the Bucs had a couple of plans and they stuck to them. I say a couple because of things not going exactly the way their plan wanted to go and having to have a solid back up choice/plan and sticking to one’s plans. That’s where I give the Bucs a lot of gratz, taking what the draft, FA, UDFA gives you and then sticking to it. But I do believe they set it up like a great boxer does his opponent.

Let’s just say it: Jason Licht can build O-lines. This is his third since he came here. Now, if only he could pick middle linebackers.

    I’m proud of him

  11. LouisFriend Says:

It doesn’t matter if he’s recognized by his peers as the best, we know there’s big media market bias that works against small market teams like the Bucs.

**He’s got the most important thing that proves he’s worth his salary – an upright QB and a running game that works behind him. How much more recognition does an offensive lineman really need?**

  12. Gipper Says:

I like Goedeke but we need some realism about the O line. Mayfield was under pressure too much last year leading to scrambles that turned into occasional positive plays. The O line was fantastic on run blocking last season but still is a work in progress on pass blocking. We will see how Heck holds up Sunday. He certainly has the size. Hopefully, he has the feet.
