“It Has A Chance To Be Serious”

Calijah Kancey

Crushing blow for the Bucs’ defense tonight in the thrilling comeback win against the Texans.

Stud defensive tackle Calijah Kancey left the game with a pectoral injury. Fans watching on TV saw Kancey’s arm go limp.

Joe’s no doctor, but pectoral injuries often are long recoveries. Some require surgery and are sure season-enders.

Todd Bowles was asked about the Kancey injury after the win tonight and said, “it has a chance to be serious.” More tests are forthcoming, Bowles said.

Joe was ecstatic when Kancey finally got through a summer without an injury. Significant calf injuries cost him several games in his first two Bucs seasons. The third-year man seemed primed for a breakout year, but now that’s been derailed.

Joe will remain optimistic until that’s not possible. And unfortunately, that kind of bad news seems only hours away.

It’s possible to lightly strain or pull the pec.

Let’s all send Kancey healing vibes, see him return soon

  2. Leopold Stotch Says:

Man that’s a huge blow… I remember I strained my pec my freshman year wrestling. Tried rest, and came back a little bit after and couldn’t go. I’m not optimistic at all, unfortunately. This is not good.

  3. BigPoppaBuc Says:

Didn’t look good when it happened. Really hope I’m wrong. Dude is a game changer when he’s in the lineup but it’s getting to be routine to lose him for stretches.

  4. unbelievable Says:

Yeah, huge blow. Team is getting crushed with injuries.

I also think Mayfield will be on the injury report, but prob won’t miss any time. There’s about a 0% chance he didn’t sustain a knee or hamstring injury tonight. Dude is one tough mofo

  5. ElioT Says:

Trying to remain optimistic but FUDGE this sucks!

Logan Hall needs to step up. Roberts too.

  6. SlyPirate Says:

Bad News: The way his arm went limp, he tore his pec or a tendon. He’s done.

Good news: They looked better when he was out. The rookie looked good.

  7. Hammerhead Says:

Licht seems to hit home runs at times.
Then again, there are hit and misses. Kancey seems done unless playoffs.
BTW, Gaines played well tonight against a badTexans o-line.
May have to hope for less injuries for our team in future.

    May the healthiest team win?

    Ask the Chiefs.

  8. lambchop Says:

Greg Gaines will be enough for run D and an occasional sack. Kalijah is turning into Mr. Glass aka Noah Spence.

  9. Addb Says:

NFL needs to expand the roster. Too many injuries around the league

  10. LouisFriend Says:

You don’t need a lot of diagnostic tests to know if it’s a significant pectoral tear. The grade of injury is pretty easy to tell, but they’re covering the bases.

A pec tear is bad news, even a mid-grade strain is a months long recovery. It’s most likely that Kancey is done for the season. If that’s the case he’ll have missed 24 out of 51 possible games in his first 3 seasons. It’s rotten injury luck, plain and simple.

  11. MomBucsFan Says:

Time for prayers. For all our players to stay healthy! Prayer is powerful!

  12. Canabuc Says:

Elijah Roberts the rookie has good size speed and can rush the passer in college!
    Next man up!
Worried more about Goedeke as the line needs him.

  13. Hammerhead Says:

NFL starting to look like a game of attrition.

    Healthiest team wins.

Ask any Super Bowl winning team.

Kancey, awesome athlete who plays ABOVE his weight.
    Hurt again.

Where is Deacon Jones when you need him.

  14. StormyInFl Says:

    Bust. Can’t stay healthy.

  15. Capt Ahab Says:

Kancey is injured again? Interesting how some lineman can play the game every week, Kancey is certainly not one of them.
