Eagles Arriving In Tampa Friday To Prepare For Heat

September 24th, 2025

The Eagles are on a run of 19 wins in their last 20 games. That includes the Super Bowl.

To call them a hot club would like calling Joe a casual fan of Hooters tater tots — a gross understatement.

That incredible Eagles run started the week after the Bucs clobbered them in Tampa last season. Not only did the Eagles lose after trailing 24-0, they fell apart physically. The heat sent some Eagles for emergency medical intervention.

That September experience clearly lives in the Eagles’ heads, so much so that they’ve altered their travel schedule for Sunday’s 1 o’clock game against the Bucs at The Licht House. Instead of flying to Tampa on Saturday, the Eagles are coming in Friday and will have an outdoor walk-through practice somewhere in the Tampa area to get used to the elements.

This obviously is a psychological ploy. There’s no hard evidence that arriving a day early is going to magically prepare the Eagles to grind in 90 degree temparatures in the second half of an NFL game. In fact, there will be plenty of Eagles, Joe is sure, that will be feeling the effects of an extra night in a hotel bed.

Joe’s just glad Jalen Hurts gets an extra day to stare into the Florida sun and think about how Todd Bowles’ defense has owned him game after game.

This game will be a reality check for our early season luck and injuries. I think it could get ugly, quickly. I’d rather eat my puke than not go with my gut instinct, but I have a bad feeling about this one. No way we can match them on either line.

  2. SB~LV Says:

    😂😂😂
Good luck getting to it in a few days
More like psyching them out on Sunday afternoon in the floor of the stadium!

  3. ChiBuc Says:

To really get in their heads, the bucs should run out of the tunnel in parkas🤪

  4. Fred Says:

If they are not out there for 3hrs In full gear and going super hard its a waste of time.

  5. BuxfaninTX Says:

On another note, Joe Tryon still has no stats for Cleveland

  6. Rayjay1122 Says:

The Bucs should slam the other bookend on the Eagles win streak. 4-0

  7. gp Says:

    We should welcome our guests.
Perhaps give them some free entry passes to some of our local attractions.
    Mons Venus comes to mind.

  8. Jmarkbuc Says:

This may actually be detractors to them. Just adding an extra day of dehydration.

  9. Capt Kidd Says:

That’s just one day earlier that they can start dehydrating.

  10. Vinicius Says:

    This game is simple:
If we win, we really are a great team.
If we lose by little, we are a good team (my expected result, but hoping to win).
If we get torn apart, we have just been getting lucky.

  11. GoneGator Says:

Big game for our secondary IMO.
Philly is fairly healthy – they have all their recievers on board this time. If we can minimize their run game on 1st and 2nd downs, and our corners and safeties can play solid…. AND WE WIN TURNOVER BATTLE…. we win the game 🎯

  12. First Last Says:

This is kind of a dumb move to be honest. This is going to zap the electrolytes from their body an extra day earlier. Plus sleeping in a hotel bed won’t be nice. I expect them to drop like flies

  13. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Capt..

That’s what I was trying to say, but damn autofills

  14. Buddha Says:

The eagles have not looked good. Dallas was in position to win and turned the ball over. They won a field goal game against KC, a team the shellacked in the Super Bowl and they were saved by two blocked field goals against the Rams. So why would anyone think this is a mismatch? DVOA has Tampa 16 Philadelphia 17.

  15. ReeeBarrr Says:

I can’t imagine how an extra day in the heat helps them to a net positive.

Sure, it may help psychologically prepare but it’s a break in their normal routine for an away game where it is still going to be hot.

They seem to have taken the route that another day of play in the heat will somehow make it better.

    We’ll see

  16. heyjude Says:

They can also get acclimated to the night life in Tampa on Friday night too! Just saying.

  17. Stpetematt Says:

Not a chance in hell just one day would make a difference! If anything, it will make it worse! You need months to acclimate to this.

  18. Aqualung Says:

    Todd and his foot.

  19. bucsfaninva Says:

Let’s be honest here…they are coming down early so they can pick up more of those kiddie pools and bags of ice.

  20. Marky mark Says:

Takes years to adjust to the heat.

  21. Marky mark Says:

They will be playing hung over.

  22. capnhowdy Says:

Go right on ahead and put that extra day or two of heat stress on your players bodies before the game Sunday Eggulls 😂😂…those kinds of birds don’t fly down here; but we’ll love to see you try. GO BUCS!!!

  23. buc4evr Says:

Bring on Desmond. It’s time for the big dawg. lol.

  24. Bosch Says:

This will only serve to keep their minds on the heat even more. I can see this backfiring.

  25. Daryl Green Says:

It sucks that Mike went down right when Chris is getting right.
I worry about the strain on Double E.
I like Miller though. Shep is shep 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 run the ball.

  26. David Says:

If that means they’ll practice Saturday afternoon for 3-4 hours in the middle of the day… That is fantastic. 😂 That is not going to do a darn thing to acclimate. It’s only going to get them tired.

The only way to acclimate is to live in it

  27. David Says:

    Daryl Green

Such a deep wide receiver group. They have Egbuka and Miller on the outside and Godwin in the slot where he excels. I think we will see TEZ a little more too. He ran a great route to get open, Baker just missed him.

  28. drdneast Says:

Fred, have to agree with you especially since it is only going to be a walkthrough. At the least it will only drain them more physically. You can no more get used to the heat in one day than you can get used to sub zero temperatures in a day.

  29. BakerFan Says:

I knew it was in their head, 1 day of being in the heat will not prepare them for anything they are going to experience on the field. Mentally beat already…. lol

  30. J Says:

Eagles OLB Nolan Smith went to IR. Very unexpected.

  31. orlbucfan Says:

Smart. Climate change is for real, not a river in Egypt. No matter what a lot of dimwitted politicos and religious nuts claim. I wonder where they’re doing the walk-through? They are the away team so they are going to be wearing some dark green on their unis. The Eaglets are going to have to can it on over-confident. Look at that winning streak. Meanwhile, our Bucs are the walking wounded. Hopefully, Wirfs and 1 or 2 defensive dudes will be back. This will be yet another dawg fight. Go Gutsy Bucs!!

  32. Irishmist Says:

I like the way GP is thinking. Joe, do we know where they are staying? We could get room service to send them some hot towels and spicy Thai food.

  33. BakerFan Says:

orlbucgan…. I got a bridge to sell you.

  34. gp Says:

    orlbucfan
    Yes
    It is real
Has been around since the earth had air and water.
Every creature that has ever lived has dealt with it.
Not sure what your point is

  35. Saskbucs Says:

This is one of those games that I hope the Bucs surprise us. One of those games where most of us prolly feel, with all our injuries, we won’t come out on top.

Sounds like the Eagles have some injuries and who knows how they are treating this game. Maybe Carter and Davis think it will be an easy matchup vs our banged up line and get surprised.

I would love nothing more than to go to 4-0 knocking off the Eagles and I think it can happen but I would feel a whole lot better with just Wirfs and Evans in there.

  36. Jmarkbuc Says:

    gp

That’s moronic. Fossil fuels only been burning 100 years +/-, and oil companies have always known.

  37. orlbucfan Says:

Okay, I do not care for doing politics on a sports blog. Human caused climate change is for real, and it is accelerating. Notice the weather events getting a bit more extreme? More droughts, flooding, tornadoes in unusual places? So far, no hurricanes, thank gawd, but they are getting stronger. Our T-storms over here in ECFL have been whoppers and we’ve had power outages. They are still not fully recovered up in NC, in the mts. from Helene and Milton. We have friends who live there so it ain’t hearsay. My handle is orlbucfan. Now, can we get back to football.

  38. BakerFan Says:

orlbucfan Says… your the one that brought it up…. so damn typical of your type. BTW my bridge is a 4 lane bridge

  39. J Says:

Find Jesus orlbucfan and you won’t live in fear.

  40. Aqualung Says:

Oralbuc is one of them brain sturgeons.

  41. MikeBuc Says:

As a man that lived in Florida for most of my life I’m going to go against most of you and say YES it does make a difference.

Its not about acclimation . Its about a dose of reality. When you feel the heat for yourself it goes beyond words and it revives memories and sends a message to new players – stay hydrated and don’t wave off the Gatorade even in the first quarter.

  42. Aubpierce Says:

The south pool is gaining ice, and the north pole is losing ice. Look it up. The tilt of the earth is the main reason. There was a scientist that died a while back and he said that the earth goes through four cycles over thousands of years that changes the climate, and his theory was proven through core samples. Take a magnifying glass and harness the suns power to start a fire at a certain angle and compare that to the earth and the angle of the sun. Now let us use a magnifying glass on the Eagles.

  43. Stpetematt Says:

The tilt of the earth causes our seasons. Human climate change is real. If you didn’t read about the greenhouse effect in school then your school failed you.

The heat should give the Bucs a slight advantage, but we need to rotate players too in order to compensate.

  44. GP Says:

Yes indeed, your school has failed you, for political reasons.
