Calijah Kancey Expects Big Things In 2025
September 6th, 2025
Incoming terror.
Prickly Pete Prisco of CBS has been banging the drum for Bucs 2023 first-round pick Calijah Kancey. Prisco has gone so far as to anoint Kancey as a future NFL superstar, and that this year Kancey will become known throughout the NFL as a beast to fear.
Joe told Kancey about Prisco’s prediction. Kancey wasn’t familiar with Prisco, but after hearing that Prisco was pimping him, Kancey said he’d do some research on Prisco.
Kancey was humbled by Prisco’s prediction.
Joe always thinks of Warren Sapp or Aaron Donald or Mean Joe Greene as a defensive tackle “superstar.” So far, Coke hasn’t contacted Kancey about a nationwide advertising campaign.
But Kancey did tell Joe that it’s Year 3 for him. And it is time for him to dominate.
“You know, that’s what you want to do as a Year 3 guy,” Kancey said. “You want to kind of make your statement in this game.
“I pretty much was able to tease a little bit of what I’ve got.”
In Kancey’s first two seasons, he missed most of training camp with a calf injury each summer. He did play a handful of snaps against Minnesota in the 2023 season opener, but if anything, he reaggravated his calf injury and missed the next three games.
Last year, Kancey missed the first five games of the season. When Kancey returned, he was a beast. He had 7.5 sacks in 12 games.
Now entering a regular season healthy for a change, Kancey has high goals.
“So now I’m going into a healthy year,” Kancey said. “I expect nothing but big things for myself. So I’m looking forward to this season.”
If Kancey can average the same number of sacks per game as he did last year (0.625) and plays a full season, he will have a dozen sacks.
With that kind of production, Joe guesses either Haason Reddick and/or YaYa Diaby will also be hounding quarterbacks at a brisk pace, too.

In the new “Genius Defense” Kancey will lead the team on passes broken up 40 yards downfield by defensive linemen.

Scientists would tell authors of proposals such as “the sky is falling” that the metaphor is inaccurate on many fronts. First, the sky is an imagined concept of what is seen above, and what might be beyond that. By definition it cannot “fall” as it’s mostly not within earth’s gravitational pull. Second, it’s a weak metaphor to use with respect to this football game. The combatants feature one side who gained 25% of their offense for the season in two games against defensive masturmind Todd, winning both with a crippled QB who was abused by everyone else.
The other side features the two job, half time at each job guy who is revered in the press for his “players coach” reputation, all the while failing to motivate, educate, or prepare his defense adequately to stop anyone from throwing the ball for a 75%+ completion rate. But he can go up against a rookie quarterback in a home playoff game and force him to never punt and lose. Brilliant stuff of a true genius.
No, the sky is not falling. But the defense is, has been, and probably will be failing. Go watch all 26 Bucs losses where Mr Twocoach is standing catatonically on the sidelines while compiling a barely .500 record….in a less than .500 division, the worst any mediocre coach could do with this roster.
Trying to get to Chrysalis Records two hangover party by game time.

lol lol yep the sky is falling blah blah blah lol lol
Todd this and Todd that lol lol Todd’s record is basically .500 Anyone can look at the his record over his coaching career and see that. But whatever More like he is percentage points above 500 = average
Maybe they will make a deep run this year or maybe not.
But right now, I am going to enjoy week one.
I have watched this team since day 1 in 1976, a lot of crappy football has been played for many seasons, with some good and great-2 Lombardis
But no matter what, it is sure a lot better now than it has been for most of the history of the franchise in spite of wether it looks like Todd has a pulse or not on the sideline during games lol, which can be hard to tell at times lol
GO BUCS!!!!
