Bucs’ Run Game Holds NFL Consistency Mark
September 20th, 2025Now this was unthinkable in 2023.
That’s back when the Bucs had the NFL’s worst running game for the second consecutive season. That’s not Joe’s opinion; that what the stats show.
In 2022, the Bucs ranked last in yards per carry and last in total rushing yards. Co-playcallers Byron Leftwich and Tom Brady couldn’t scheme up any better. A year later, the Bucs matched those dismal marks with a new offensive coordinator.
And now, per NFL data queen Cynthia Frelund, the Bucs have eclipsed 100 yards rushing for 10 consecutive regular season games. That’s the longest current streak in the NFL! And they busted 100 against the Commandoes in the playoffs.
It will be something special if the Bucs can keep the streak alive tomorrow with an offensive line that looks like a preseason cast, or a tray of Hooters wings 15 mintues after it arrives at JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters.
Joe is confident in the run game and expects a solid day against the Jets. Hopefully that doesn’t include Baker Mayfield running for his life.

I concur

And if he is running for his life let’s hope he’s running due north!

Agreed.

Joe!
“or a tray of Hooters wings 15 mintues after it arrives at JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters.”
BRILLIANT! And, yeah, perfect analogy.

It will be miraculous if we somehow win tmrw.

Carberry and GRIZZ got the line going without Wirfs and Goedeke. You can also mention Mauch playing hurt most of the game. Hopefully, Jordan is good to go.
The run game must continue and keep Baker injured free.
Go Bucs!!!

Erik with Pilot and Driver. To me it will be miraculous if we lose tomorrow. Our defense is in a better place. But if Mayfield is the kind of QB I think he is he’s going to prove it these next 5 weeks. One game at a time. He’s got plenty of weapons and with an inexperienced OLine running game should take over. That’s not what I’m seeing. We’ll lead off with an efficient, quick pass game and hit a few long ones and hang 20 by half. We should be pounding the run game midway through the 3rd quarter and cruise to a 27-17 win.

OU’s defense has 7 sacks in the first half against Auburn. Haven’t seen something like that in awhile. And 10 TFL’s. Maybe our defense can watch that before the game tomorrow.

This seems like box score celebration. I seem to recall after the falcons game, one of the Joes wondering where the running game disappeared to? This “stat” was certainly saved by Mayfield’s 39 yards of scrambling.
Without Mauch, Goedeke, Whirfs, and potentially the other two healthy starters playing out of position, I find the optimism to be rose coloured at best. Would love to be proven wrong, bc we’ll all be celebrating a victory tomorrow if so!

Rachaad White has gotten better every year.

ESPN is reporting that Egbuca will play tomorrow.

Just heard Mike Jordan is out for tomorrow now. Lol. This has turned into a sad comedy show. Never seen anything like this before. Our entire Oline is decimated 2 games into a 17 game season. The brittle Buccaneers strike again.

Do people really still go to hooters? Lol re-adjust your values XD

Let me ask a silly question….if Chukwuma and Klein are good enough to make the 53 man roster, why aren’t they playing? I assume they are both starting tomorrow…no?

Bake is gonna have 50+ yards running – just watched Josh Allen gash them on qb scrambles last week – their rush is no joke, but they also play a lot of man – it will be there for the taking

A lot of qb sneaks and bootlegs for the taking especially if we can pass effectively opening the way to effective running especially draws
