Betting The Bucs (Week 1 Edition)

September 6th, 2025

Disclaimer: Don’t bet if losing will ruin your day, week, month or year.

Betting The Bucs is a window into Joe’s pregame wagers tied to Tampa Bay. Joe would say it’s all in fun, but this is serious business.

(In-game betting allows for the processing of better information, but Joe can’t take that on in this space.)

Sports betting is legal in Florida but there’s only one government-regulated Florida sportsbook monopoly run by the Seminole tribe, Hard Rock Bet. And that’s where Joe is pulling betting lines.

Good luck! This year, Joe will track pick results and money results. The latter is what’s most important, of course.

Mike Evans busting 975.5 yards sure seems like a good bet. He’s done it in 11 consecutive seasons. However, Joe is focused on how the team will be dialed in on Evans achieving the record. On what else can you wager knowing there’s a full organizational commitment to the player hitting the mark and winning you money?

Bucs > Patriots. Joe spoke on the Ira Kaufman Podcast about how overhyped the Patriots have been all offseason. This wager highlights that in bright red. Who in their right mind thinks the Patriots will have a better record than the Bucs?

Rachaad White had a quiet summer but he’s a major component of the Bucs offense. Joe loved the +200 odds here for what feels like more of a tossup “over.”

*****Off the board currently at Hard Rock is the over/under wager on Chris Godwin’s receiving yards this season, 725.5 yards. Joe wrote about it 10 days ago and was able sneak the under pick in before the plug was pulled.

Good luck!

    I like the bets Joe.
Back when I was a betting man I was a sucker for parlays.
Maybe I need to look into options up here in my neck of the woods 🤔

  2. Tye Says:

A safe bet would be if the Bucs lose this game to the Falcons with Penix at QB then Bowels is immediately on the hot seat fighting for his job the rest of the season…
Being Swept by the Falcons last year while they were a struggling team is bad enough…

Defense BETTER show up because Bowels has had PLENTY of time to prove himself and has NOT!

  3. J-Dub Says:

Hard rock has CRIMINAL juiced odds and lines. Since they have the monopoly in Florida unless you are going to an old school overseas sports book it’s even more weighted in their favor. Your Mile Evans bet is -115 at Draft Kings and Vegas but criminal Hard Rock has it at -120 so they nickel and dime you to death. I cannot wait for legislation to kick in for Draft Kings to become legal in Florida but that will obviously entail paying off the Seminole tribe a TON of money.

  4. Jwil Says:

So you could quadruple your cash by putting $ on Haason Reddick recording over .5 sacks vs the falcons. Not a huge money bettor but I like low risk high reward. Put $5 on Haason and win $20.

  5. John ocala Says:

I’ll lay a “G” on Evans over and a “G” on the Buc’s winning more games than the Patriots….. Evans will have his long before the 14th game (14? My win total for the year posted here before camp started. Go Bucs

  6. BucsFan81 Says:

I hate Hard Rock. They are awful. My parlay would have hit last night if it wasn’t for the Worthy injury in which every sportsbook except Hard Rock voided him.

  7. Saskbucs Says:

Bet365 and now some bad book called Coolbet is all I can play in Western Canada.

Wish I would have laid money last week. Bucky and Emeka receiving lines have shot up since.

  8. Jeffrey Becker Says:

falcons ML guarantees you’ll survive the day emotionally

  9. Aqualung Says:

Aqualung is hammering the over on completion percentage for Michael’s Penix. Like stealing candy from a gaytor who left.

  10. Buddha Says:

    My wagers: YTD:1-0

    N Y Giants +6
    LA Raiders +2.5
    Atlanta +2
    Carolina +3.5

Grizzard likes to pass that ball! I think. I’ve got Mike +185 100 yards receiving. Taking a risk and slapped 100 on Bucky +550 receiving. Figure Baker can throw for 260 passing yards at +110. Of course the Bucs winning at -120 should be easy as Baker throwing for 260. I just hope all this talk about Bucky running a few deep routes pans out. I’d like to make some money so I could go back and bet it on the Texans next week. Bucky at +550 is 50 or more receiving yards. If I can break even on my new hobby then I can try my luck again next week! Otherwise this new hobby comes to a screeching halt. Aqualung mentioned in earlier post about Bucky might be hitting a deep pass and so when I placed that bet yesterday I pushed it to 50 yards to get those odds. Then I spent the hour and a half drive home from Kansas thinking “why would I listen to Aqualung?”
