“Baker, Who The Hell Told You To Throw The Ball That Good?”

September 9th, 2025

Big smile for Baker Mayfield.

As we know from Baker Mayfield and former Bucs stud defensive tackle Gerald McCoy, Sooners and Longhorns don’t mix.

It doesn’t take much for Mayfield, who incredibly had a home in Austin (talk about living in the belly of the beast), to flash his ‘Horns-down sign, being the good Sooner he is.

Joe actually thinks Mayfield throwing down the ‘Horns-down sign makes his day. So for a former Longhorn linebacker to give a Sooner quarterback mad props, that’s saying a lot.

And that’s just what Emmanuel Acho did. Acho, formerly of FS1, now co-hosts a YouTube show he produces after every game on Sunday, along with former Bucs running back Shady McCoy. It’s called “Speakeasy” and Acho did an X’s and O’s breakdown of Mayfield’s two touchdown throws to Emeka Egbuka.

Those two throws may have been the best of his career, “And I’ve been watching him since Oklahoma,” Acho said of Mayfield.

Acho just raved about how high-level those throws were. They shouldn’t have been that good, Acho believed.

“I’m not going to say Baker’s elite,” Acho said. “I’m not going to say it. But if he looks elite, and he got elite numbers, and he be throwing elite, and he be playing elite … I’m not going to say it, I’m not going to say it, I’m not going to say it, I’m not going to say it.

“But you can say it: He elite.”

Joe sure hopes Mayfield keeps this up. Because soon, the offensive line will be better. And also soon, Chris Godwin will return.

Then the Bucs will be cooking with gas.

He’s good, but he has his moments…..i dont know what to say to him….he’s got to chill sometimes and size up the throw better.

  2. QB 6 Says:

He’s ELITE and he’s our Quarterback!

  3. Eric Says:

He is perfect for this team! They love him and fight for him. Go bucs!

  4. Senor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

That was a good video, and so on the money. I thought the same thing. Yes, EE made a great catch both times. But Baker made a hell of a throw when the pocket was clearly collapsing. Both throws were so friggin perfect. On the finger tips and out of reach of the defender. ELITE

MadMax, I don’t want him to “chill”. Let Baker Bake. His personality rubs off on the team.

  5. Bakerfan Says:

Even if Baker and the Bucs win the Superbowl there will always be the haters and a bunch of them are on this forum. I just don’t get it why you guys proclaiming to be Bucs fan are the band leaders of the Hate Baker Mayfield clan

  6. Stpetematt Says:

He throws it 30 yards downfield into a foot high and wide window twice in this game.

    It’s mot a fluke.

  7. BucU Says:

We’re lucky to have him here. His runs for first downs were almost as good as those throws to EE.

  8. JustOneGame Says:

Obviously his completion percentage wasn’t good Sunday and he almost had two INTs. Baker will be the first to tell you that wasn’t his best performance. Yet, he still threw three TDs and when it mattered most he balled out. People seem to forget this is his EIGHTH coordinator in EIGHT years. Yes the offense is similar but it’s still a new play caller with new tendencies and communication style. Keep ballin’ Baker! Go Bucs!

  9. Bojim Says:

Austin is a breath of fresh air compared to the rest of Texas.

  10. G Buc Says:

    Absolutes Dimes!

    Don’t be fooled. He’s a gun slinger.
I’ll take it. Live and die by it!

He is definitely top 10. Just win baby!

  11. Stpetematt Says:

Not a fluke- and it also means Egbuka runs an elite pattern too.

Easy answer and it has everything to do with Gatorade and what rhymes with flask

That’s the feces and the homeless people sleeping in the bushes you smell

Ahh yes, the slows out in full force that only hone in completion percentage, the stat watchers. You guys are so awesome, love your worldly insights? Let’s do this, let’s have the quarterback throw bubble screens all game so he can go 25/25 for 110 yards! Hell yeah let’s do that! “He almost threw two interceptions.” You mean like every other quarterback in the nfl? If we sat here and counted all of the what ifs in every game we would be here for the next 800 years. What’re we doing here. The gd offensive line got reshuffled. He has Barton and the pocket getting pushed in to him – he doesn’t panic like CALEB WILLIAMS, he sits in the pocket and fires bullets. Reshuffled line, injured receivers, 3rd new offensive coordinator in 3 years, and you have complete a-holes here that thinks baker should’ve gone 31-37 for 480 yards and 7 touchdowns instead of being happy with a clutch gritty w.

  15. Boomer Says:

    Goforthrface30 ^eveything you just said.

  16. PSL Bob Says:

The first time I watched that game-winning TD to Egbuka, I thought, WOW what a beautiful pass. And watching it again, you have to say, it was perfection!

  17. MikeBuc Says:

    @Gofortheface30

Huge Baker fan here. been following him since Cleveland BUT He was definitely off for a good stretch. I’m not worried about it because practice does not make up for real game play. No one is going to be flying at you in practice like they will in a game because no one wants to be responsible for injuring their own QB. So it has to be a very different feel that you have to get back in a groove with each season.

  18. JustOneGame Says:

Awe we have a special someone who gets its feelings hurt over constructive criticism. Baker himself even said he played like sh!t in the first half. Also, take the time to read the full comment you dope, I literally praised Baker at the end, I just don’t choke on his d!ck when I do it.

  19. Steven007 Says:

Face, good post. Makes lots of sense there. All I know is in real time. I thought both those throws were fantastic. I agree, high percentage throws all day. Will get you a nice stat line. But both those throws were money and obviously well needed. I’ll take it.

  20. KABucs Says:

Good take Acho, I like it
Almost as good as those throws.

  21. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

I wouldn’t say best because he made those same passes to Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. He’s made done great passes since being here but one of the most impressive I’ve seen here is obedience of the tds thrown to McMillan last year. He was under some good pressure and threw it perfect. Catch was just as beautiful berating the back had great coverage. I can say Baker was elite last year because his numbers were.

  22. mj Says:

they were really good passes threading the needle, go back to the saints game and the fourth down throw and td throw to jmac both were mind blowing!
seeing a trend here… the best was he did not turn the ball over… 1 turnover and we probably lost that game

  23. David Says:

Definitely 2 great throws but overall had a very subpar game. Not playing much throughout the preseason showed.
Going to have to turn it up a notch against Houston’s defense
