Lavonte David Praises Teammates

September 15th, 2025

Giddy.

Joe doesn’t know if Lavonte David was any happier when the Bucs won the Super Bowl than he sounded on the Buccaneers Radio Network after the game from the Bucs’ locker room.

Reporter T.J. Rives was interviewing Baker Mayfield when Rives said he had to pause the interview because David wanted to hug Mayfield.

When Rives interviewed David, he was effusive about Mayfield and teammates.

“That was a helluva last drive, a helluva last drive,” David said of the drive that ended with a game-winning two-yard plunge by Rachaad White.

What led up to White’s score were some incredible plays. Mayfield scrambles for 15 yards on fourth down. Mayfield throws to Bucky Irving, who pinballed off would-be tacklers for 22 yards. Then an 11-yard pass to Mike Evans highlighted the top plays on the drive.

On punching the ball in for the win, Rives asked White what went through his mind when Mayfield called the play.

“Let’s go home.”

“The will to win,” David said of his teammates battling and battling. “Complete change from what I went through before.”

Boy, The Lost Decade seems like another century away right now.

“There is something special,” David said of the Bucs.

“There is a bunch of dawgs on this team,” White said. Everybody who touched the ball did what they had to do.”

Well, except for the dropped pick by David.

“Easiest interception I ever had in my life,” David laughed. “We have each other’s backs.”

  7. firethecannons Says:

Yup so many players on defense were outstanding, the problem on offense is clearly the offensive line tonight not being able to hold up. They sure put the effort forth but those pass rushers on Texans were vicious.

You better believe LVD was happy with that drive…..that dropped interception could have easily cost us the game.

Our special teams really blew this game.

May be time to bring in Dion Jones. He was a former Pro Bowler and looks healthy. He made two stops on special teams and a sack. Voss looks like he needs to sit for now.
