Welcome To The End Zone, Emeka Egbuka!
August 16th, 2025
Rookie receiver Emeka Egbuka getting some love on the sideline after his first NFL touchdown pass tonight.
Joe is so damn happy fans are getting to see what Joe has seen through every training camp practice: a true No. 1 Bucs receiver not named Mike Evans.
Bucs’ first-round pick Emeka Egbuka was 100 percent up to the test in his first preseason game, but that was against the lowly Titans without fellow Bucs starters on the field.
But Thursday against the Steelers in a joint practice, Egbuka was one of the best players on the field, certainly the second best receiver on the field behind Mike Evans.
With Evans sitting out tonight against the Steelers in the Preseason Week 2 game, Egbuka was the “No. 1” receiver for Tampa Bay. And his talent was on display. Below you can watch the replay of his first career touchdown catch, a thing of beauty — adjustment, strengh and focus. And how bout that money touch throw from Teddy Bridgewater.
Egbuka beat veteran Steelers cornerback Brandin Echols, who they signed as a free agent in March.
Evans was among the first to congratulate him on the sidelines.
Welcome to the end zone, Emeka!
And now the first TD for @EgbukaEmeka 🙌

Dude just looks like a stud receiver. Only going to elevate the whole group. Going to be a really fun offense to watch this year.

EE could be better than Harrison Jr. because of the team he’s on, think about that. But he I think he is just so much a football IQ buttknot. He’s just into it and smart.

An incredible catch in that I think Emeka had thought about passes
Like that and knew how to stay in bounds.

Perfectly done! Enjoyed his interview shown during the game too. Humble kid.

EE was the best choice available when the Bucs’ turn came up in the Draft. No, he wasn’t a defensive player, but so what? Grizzard looks up he might be the answer to my prayers. He’s opening the playbook. Kudos to him, EE, and his mentors ME13 and CG14!

Unless McMillan and Godwin can get back very soon, Ebuka may need to be a high volume receiver early on.
