Tristan Wirfs, Chris Godwin Did Not Travel With Bucs To Pittsburgh

August 14th, 2025

Chris Godwin.

Maybe this says something. Maybe it doesn’t.

Injured All-World left tackle Tristan Wirfs and injured stud Bucs receiver Chris Godwin did not travel with the team to Pittsburgh on Tuesday and were not at practices on Wednesday and Thursday. Joe has no expectation they’ll be on the sidelines Saturday night against the Steelers in Week 2 of the preseason.

Joe suspects the players would say travel away from their full-time rehab is a bad idea, though the Bucs do have players in Pittsburgh nursing injuries and working with trainers here in the Steel City.

Players nursing injuries isn’t the same as stars needing rehab to get back on the field. They have a plan they’re sticking to. Don’t need them traveling to Pittsburgh only to stand around watching practice for a meaningless preseason game.

    Joe and JBF fans,

Check out today’s Movin the Chains with Pat Kirwan. It was awesome. Quick summary/paraphrase from Kirwan to Vic Carucci:

“Atlanta drafted a few rookie pass-rushers. They should help out. Atlanta should be a wild card. The Bucs? Easily will win their division.”

Also, Kirwan to Carucci: “Consider the Bucs a lock to win the NFCS. And he hasn’t said it on air yet, but my boy Jim Miller will soon pick the Bucs to go to the Superbowl this year – that’s how good Miller thinks the Bucs team is.”

Love me some Movin’ The Chains. And if Jim Miller is picking the Bucs to go to SB, it’s very encouraging. Those 2 (Kirwan/Miller) aren’t always right, but their takes are always reasoned, rationed, and realistic.

Bucs to the Superbowl this year. Miller (has almost) said it first.

    Go Bucs ! ! !

    Agreed Hodad,

No need for them to travel to Pittsburgh. They just need to try to be ready for the regular season. Don’t need any more injuries this week.

Sorry, Movin’ The Chains is on SiriusXM, channel 88. I listen daily.

Why would they travel to a worthless preseason game

Not too worried about Wirfs, but it’s been nearly a year and Godwin isn’t even running yet. I think we’re lucky to see him in October, and I question if he’ll ever be the same player.

He’s one of my all time favorite Bucs, but gotta wonder if re-signing him to a 3 year deal at $20M+ was a wise move.

    not good…jmho

Hearty Dikerson , I agree with you about Godwin coming back from that type of injury . I hope he can . Stopping and cutting is quite difficult as it is ,I’m rooting for him. Go Bucs
