Trey Palmer On Field, Getting Closer
August 15th, 2025So receiver/returner Trey Palmer won’t play against the Steelers on Saturday night and hasn’t had a full practice this month, but he was back on the field yesterday in Pittsburgh.
(See photo) Palmer has been nursing a hamstring injury (no official injury report available) suffered about a week into training camp. He’s progressed to the point, though, where Joe saw him running routes yesterday — running, cutting and catching in drills.
Joe asked Todd Bowles about Palmer in Pittsburgh and Bowles noted Palmer didn’t practice against the Steelers and will sit out this weekend. Still, Joe saw witnessed Palmer’s work in those drills and he can’t be far from an official return.
On Saturday, rookie returner/receiver Tez Johnson will make his preseason debut. He’s Palmer’s competition and it’s become clear to Joe that the Bucs would prefer Johnson to make the team ahead of Palmer. But Johnson must still show he’s worthy.
Joe’s seen rookies fade under the lights, and as high as the Bucs might be on Johnson, Joe suspects they won’t be too patient with him.
The love affair with Palmer didn’t last long. He had 39 catches and 3 touchdowns as a 2023 rookie and became a largely forgotten man in the offense last season.

Gotta keep Palmer healthy for a trade…
August 15th, 2025 at 9:30 pm
Trey Palmer don’t fit in the Bucs plans for the future. I doubt if they can get anything for him in a trade. They may be able to trade him and a 7th for a 6th. He showed a lot of promise as a rookie.
But, this is the NFL ( Not For Long)
I wish him the best, he’s still very young

I don’t believe Trey Palmer is part of the Bucs future. He showed a lot of promise as a rookie. But, he didn’t really fit in Liam Coen offense.I don’t think they will get much for him in a trade. Probably him and a 7th for a 6th. This is my opinion, we all have one!!

Might be good as a sweetener for a package deal.
August 15th, 2025 at 10:00 pm
Canales in NC might like him; Palmer did well in his offense. But I don’t see anyone offering anything in trade for someone fated to be cut by his present team.
If the milk’s free, why buy a cow?
August 15th, 2025 at 10:06 pm
Trey has potential but there are zero possibilities for a trade as they all know he vill be cut if he doesn’t fit. Then he will be grabbed.

Did the Steelers Minister of Propaganda approve this story? After all, is not this a highly classified camp note from Pittsburg? Saw those yellow seats in Palmer’s background. Might want to alter the photo and paint those red and pewter.
As for the Propaganda Minister’s forced ‘between the lines’ camp notes, what happened to freedom of the press? Surely the catching of a football thrown from one man to another man be a possible reason for the NFL to go to DEFCON 1.
At least I hope so. Who knows nowadays?

Evans raved about Tez
August 15th, 2025 at 10:38 pm
panthers will pick him off the scrap heap and he’ll play there
August 15th, 2025 at 10:49 pm
imo palmer is pretty much an insurance policy only right now. his only goal is tape for other teams (including pittsburgh), he might yield something in trade due to injuries, i just dont see us as a long term employer. i wish him well and would prefer otherwise, its just a business situation

Vikings WR room is a M*A*S*H unit at the moment….
August 16th, 2025 at 1:05 am
Not sure why he is on the team at this point, he has yet to make a difference. Bundle him and Tez johnson and get a 4th round pick.
August 16th, 2025 at 2:16 am
No one is trading for Palmer. Why would another team trade for a seldom used 6th round pick they could get for free? If the Bucs with Mayfield couldn’t get much out of him, who else going to do any better? Even a bad GM could figure that out.

Palmer is a non-issue. The dude has made very few plays as a rostered Buc and has missed most all of camp. Don’t know how he makes the 53 this year. We are too deep to keep a question mark.
Go Bucs!

Trey Palmer is a one n done dud. He had the long td in playoff game against eagles 2023 n what, a short td pass last year. But when has he really stepped up, my bad, stepped back, or stepped to the left for out of bounds or stepped to the right for out of bounds on a point, my bad, punt of no return. TPalmer is a mirror of Jayden Darden n OJHoward.

If he’s good, he stays; if not, he’s cut. Pretty simple. Bucs do need help in Special Teams. Looks like they have a decent punter.
August 16th, 2025 at 9:17 am
He lasted to the 6th round for a reason.
August 16th, 2025 at 9:27 am
Is he not the fastest player on the team? (At least the offense) I don’t recall a single go-route attempt with him last year. I expect he gets cut, put on practice squad if he clears
August 16th, 2025 at 11:28 am
Yeah, you’d definitely prefer seeing Tez step-up and TAKE-IT… You have him under full Team Control ‘on the cheap’ for 4-YEARS!!!!
August 16th, 2025 at 11:43 am
“firethecannons” – now, how the hell do you think gettin a 4TH would ever happen, or even be a possibility, man!? Seriously. WHO is doing THAT… An ‘unproductive’ former ‘6TH-ROUND’ Pick from three years ago, being paired with a CURRENT ‘7TH-ROUND’ Pick, who’s never taken a snap (with good odds that BOTH will be cut outright, or headed to the PS). HOW in what world does that equal up to a future ‘4TH ROUND’ Pick!? LoL. Before you start throwing-out these crazy numbers on your trade proposals, Ask Yourself, Would YOU DO IT if you were GM!? Now, come-on… a 4TH. Really!?
August 16th, 2025 at 11:45 am
“GM of the *other team* you are supposedly trading with.””
August 16th, 2025 at 11:55 am
“Beeej” – I don’t think anyone is throwing ‘deep bombs’ as much anymore, due to current Defensive trends. Everyone is ‘scared to death’ of getting burned deep, they’re all playing soft zone coverages with their safeties deep. While, ALLOWING everything short underneath… Just like Bowles’ Defense. QB’s are extremely aware of their Comp.% and with throwing INT’s nowadays, as well. Analytics, Etc. It’s just a perfect storm. I’m hoping for changes real soon… I don’t like it.
August 16th, 2025 at 12:02 pm
HS and College QB’s nowadays, won’t even ‘throw the ball away’ to avoid a sack (etc.) anymore, due to not wanting to drop their Comp.% – they are seriously, THAT AWARE of their own stats, & analytics.
August 16th, 2025 at 12:24 pm
Betcha he becomes a Raider or Jag, both need some WR help.
Spytek knows him well so does Cohen.
Let’s see what Tez shows tonight, that should tip the scales either way.
LFG BUCS!!!!!
Fire them there CANNONS
August 16th, 2025 at 3:32 pm
You guys with the trade talk are hilarious, as though our dollar is worth a dollar and their dollar is worth fifty cents. They have there own bottom of the roster players to promote.
August 16th, 2025 at 3:35 pm
I’m not kidding when I say we need a 3rd elite DT to win the Super Bowl.
We like tough WR’s who can take a hit and block.
And Baker is a fast ball QB. His deep ball is not very good.
Palmer wouid do better somewhere else.
We need to trade Palmer, Gaines, a CB, and a draft pick for an elite DT in the final year of his contract.
We may go over the salary cap.
But that’s okay. We went over the salary cap to win a Super Bowl with Brady.
It’s time to do it again.
August 16th, 2025 at 5:14 pm
Yeah, a no name 6th rd deep threat in a “dink-n-dunk” offense is definitely a poor fit. Too bad he was mediocre as a returner too. He ain’t bait, he’s chum
