Tez Johnson Marvels At Mike Evans

Tez Johnson was raised right. He respects his elders.
Yesterday, the Bucs rookie receiver was asked for his thoughts on sharing a locker room with a guy who will be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Mike Evans.
Let’s just say Johnson understands why Evans will be enshrined in Canton.
“His consistency,” Johnson said of a trait Evans has that impresses him the most. “[I have] never seen a guy so consistent in my life — other than my pops. He is so consistent.
“He comes in every day and does the exact same thing. He plays his little card game, he goes to the training room and gets his treatment, walks out on the field and does the exact same routine, goes out and catches a one-hander and takes it 30-yards for a touchdown.
“You do not see [anything] better than that. You see a guy like that, and you get to walk into the locker room with him every day — he is coaching you up — and you do not take it for granted.”
Johnson said he learned quickly that it would be a very smart move to follow Evans around like a hungry puppy to absorb any morsel of knowledge from Evans.
“He is one of those guys that you need to be around if you are a rookie,” Evans said. “He has done it since [being] a rookie. You do not see anything like that, it is rare. Only one other person did it, and it was Jerry Rice.
“[Evans] is by far a Hall of Famer, one hundred percent. It is his birthday today, so I asked him if he is 50-years old.
“He is still young; he still acts like a kid in the locker room — he is a brother. We love him to death.”
Think back to last season when Evans tied Jerry Rice’s record for consecutive seasons on 1,000 yards or more on the last play of the regular season. Evans’ teammates reacted as if they all won the lottery.
It showed how much Evans is respected in the Bucs locker room. Johnson’s words were just the latest example.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will not play their starters against the Bills, but there are still plenty of players trying to impress the coaching staff.

Every buc should “want to be like Mike” Evans. He also makes everyone around him better. What a guy. I want to Marvel as long as I can. Marvel describes what I do every time I watch him.

anyone that thinks tez is arrogant just doesn’t like anyone with a very upbeat personality. I’ve seen nothing but respect from him. His quotes here ae hardly surprising

I like this kid, he gets it. Who better to follow than the greatest receiver in Buccaneer history. I’m praying for him to explode and become a key piece of Bucs success, whether it be special teams or becoming a great receiver this guy has it in him.
