Rich Eisen Slaps Haason Reddick

August 20th, 2025

The face of NFL Network, Rich Eisen, can be quite smarmy as he tries to play nice with everyone and channel his inner Jon Gruden.

Gruden, aka Chucky, is fond of stating public love for nearly every player, which is dishonest. Joe loves Chucky, but candor isn’t his strong suit when he’s not coaching. Chucky even recently said he had no beef with Team Glazer for ripping him out of the Buccaneers Ring of Honor.

Eisen ha a revealing slip this week while interviewing former Buccaneer Gerald McCoy, the six-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle. The duo works together on NFL Network but this was during The Rich Eisen Show.

McCoy talked about why he thinks the Bucs will threaten the Eagles’ NFC crown, and McCoy noted one reason is new Bucs edge rusher Haason Reddick, the former Eagles star, will be extra motivated to beat his old team.

That take seemed to peek Eisen out of his persona.

“Oh, God. Listen, the Jets fan in me right now is like, ‘Gimme a break. Like he’s got to want to and he’s got to show it,'” Eisen said of Reddick.

And that’s the knock on Reddick that Bucs fans don’t want to hear.

After failing to report to the Jets last season until October, Reddick played in 10 games. Joe will say that in the first five games (with a bye week in between) Reddick shook off a lot of rust. But what about after that? Reddick came out for the final five games and looked sad.

Despite playing in a contract year with tens of millions on the line — alongside a Pro Bowl defensive tackle and opposite a 10-sack pass rusher — Reddick didn’t produce in his final five games with the Jets.

Reddick logged 231 snaps in those final five games, during which he found half a sack in the season finale. So it’s fair to wonder how much Reddick still has in the tank physically and mentally.

The Bucs believe in Reddick. They say their intel on him was strong and he is all-in with Tampa Bay and has been a model Bucs teammate.

It would be awesome if Reddick can make Eisen eat his words.

He could have been playing at really safe or at 80% speed to just go through the motions to collect a check. Who knows how much effort he was putting in. It was clear that he didn’t want to be on that team.

  2. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“Oh, God. Listen, the Jets fan in me right now is like, ‘Gimme a break'”

Say no more, I totally forgot Rich is a fan of the biplanes lol those are some of the most miserable people to interact with in football discussions because all they know is pain and Joe Namath lol

Reddick should be fine as long as he’s healthy, unfortunately for Eisen the Jets are still going to be the Jets.

  3. Aqualung Says:

We will see. At least we know Reddick will be dropping into empty zones a lot in this defense.

  4. Teacherman Says:

We need a backup for Vea!!!

He only plays 50-60% of the game!

    We need another NT/DT asap!

    Pull a trade!!

    LFG!

  5. LakelandBuc Says:

I still can’t swallow the fact, that Licht didn’t sign another Edge Rusher to replace David Walker.

    We will see what happens

  6. Couch Fan Says:

I really hope he works out or this is going to be a long season. And none of us want that.

  7. Pewter Power Says:

We don’t pass a pass rush. Yaya has zero pass rush moves and can only bull rush. We replaced JTS the rest of the guys are the same. Licht believes in miracles

  8. Kenton Smith Says:

WBL, shoutout for Broadway Joe. Incredible athlete, easily top 6 or 8 QBs of all time. First NFL QB to throw for 4000 yards. And backing up his boast against the mighty Colts in 69’. Wow. 1969 saw those Jets and the 1969 Miracle Mets make New York the Sports Capital. And Madison Square Garden in 1969 hosted Ali-Frazier. Thank goodness for sports in those tough years for our beloved country.

  9. Nano107 Says:

Playing for the Jets is like a punishment

  10. Kenton Smith Says:

Don’t want to neglect you basketball fans. The Knicks were the World Champs of the 69-70 season also.

  11. Jmarkbuc Says:

Candor wasn’t Chucky’s strong suit when he WAS coaching either.

  12. Permanently Moderated Says:

There’s still time for Licht to pick up another edge rusher if they decide to.

  13. Biff Barker Says:

Bucs will be watching waiver wire, Doubtful we can find anyone. FA trade is more likely. FO has earned my trust.

  14. MelvinJunior Says:

I love those new hats… I’ve got to get the red one. I bought the creamsicle throwback about two months ago… It’s SO Awesome. The logos are ‘puffy’ and has the holes in the back and sides with that ‘breathable’ material. It’s pretty badass. Costs $50 bucks out the door at “Lids.” Can’t wear-it this time of year in this heat though, or you’ll ruin-it before the season even starts… They are I mean, “white-white.” VERY Clean.

  15. MelvinJunior Says:

I honestly, like most all of the other teams I’ve seen this preseason, too… I really liked the Bills one, and of course, as always, the Chargers. I bet the “Oilers” throwback will be SO SICK… I’ll have to get that one 💯. God. You know it will be just STUPID. Hopefully, you can even find one, at a normal price. I just googled the ‘creamsicle’ one that I got and nothing came up at all, except older ones!? Hope they’re not ‘limited’ cause that Oilers one, will be ‘marked-up’ ridiculously then. Really glad I got that creamsicle one, now!!!!

    lakeland

    i agree

thats why ive been screaming for TH….

reddick doesnt produce or yaya gets injured and we’re back to blitzing DBs and dropping vita in coverage

    GO BUCS!!!!

  17. Beeej Says:

The Jets are a dark hole into which NFL talent goes and is never seen again

  18. The Fighting Schianoes Says:

    You bite your tongue!

Rich Eisen is the man! If you were a JETS fan, you’d have the same beaten wife syndrome.

  19. Jmarkbuc Says:

    I can’t find a Godwin 76 white creamsicle jersey anywhere…

  20. SlyPirate Says:

Hasson, Yaya, Braz … They know the word on the street.
Hasson, Yaya, Braz … They know why JTS got shipped off.
Hasson, Yaya, Braz … They know it’s do or die time.

  21. Half_Sac Says:

I still believe he just played for his check last year after taking some bad advice. If he doesn’t wanna be there and the team sucks he probably won’t play hard or look good.

  22. Jmarkbuc Says:

SI s speculating that Hendrickson could be had for a player and a 2nd or third.

If that’s the case you make it happen. The cap goes up every year, and if any one can manipulate it to work it’s our Greenberg.

  23. garro Says:

I have seen nothing that instills any confidence. Sorry but I gotta agree with Eisen. It’s show me time. It’s also show me time for all of the OLBs we have been waiting for.

    Go Bucs!

  24. David Says:

We will know after the first 3 games. Rich is a bitter NYJ fan because like many who overhype NY teams, he believed they were relevant with Reddick and A-Aron. Never understood why because they still have not won more than 7 games since 2015 and only over .500 once since 2010

  25. Esteban85 Says:

The same could be said for every player in the league, he’s gotta want it and he’s gotta show it. Well no shît. Do you really think that a player can have any lapse in mental toughness or will in this league and the cracks won’t begin to show?

  26. ModHairKen Says:

    Unnecessary shots at Gruden

  27. KABucs Says:

    Definition:
    Candor = being a d!ck

No seriously, I think that the pass rush and the secondary have a lot to prove. You can’t just magically think Riddick will be perfect but he’s shown out to be a really good teammate and they keep saying how fast and focused he is in practice, so we shall see. We’ll also see if Yaya and Braswell have developed some new moves and get some sacks this season.🤞

  28. Aqualung Says:

Well, Bowels first year with the Jets was a fluke, 10 wins. Then they declined and regressed after that, a Todd trademark.

  29. #1bucsfan Says:

Only time will tell. Maybe it was the coaching on NY or the scheme you know. Obviously he didn’t want to be there and it showed in his work. Like any job. If someone doesn’t want to be there they probably arnt doing the best work. Human nature

  30. Rod Munch Says:

If Eisen is a Jets fan and saw what he saw last year, I have no issues with him calling it out. It’s up to Reddick to prove he’s not washed up – I hope that’s the case since the Bucs are betting big on that.

  31. Funderstruck Says:

A half sack in the season finale? So he’s trending up!!

  32. SenileSenior Says:

It appears on the surface that Reddick is not a consummate pro. I have faith that Todd and Jason see sufficient character qualities in him for him to be a Buc. We fans will know just what we have in him soon enough.

    Go Bucs!

  33. Larrd Says:

Licht has repeated the “speed to power” mantra in the past, but when Simeon was coaching up Diaby I noticed Diaby tell him speed to power was his thing and Simeon just looked at him funny. Makes me wonder!
