Jason Licht: Haason Reddick “Is That Man”

August 21st, 2025

GM respect flows.

So Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht has this thing that has become the highest praise he can offer a player.

The team has a hokey “I Am That Man” cultural one-liner used to describe the model member of the organization. In modern Bucs lore, Lavonte David is the prototype “I Am That Man” guy.

It’s cute as sayings go. Joe thinks it’s far better than the Siege the Day nonsense the marketing team rolled out years ago. Whatever people approved that slogan and the former uniforms clearly don’t understand football fans.

Anyway, if Licht calls you “that man,” then you’ve earned his trust, respect and complete confidence.

Earlier this month, Licht dropped the distinction on newcomer free agent edge rusher Haason Reddick.

“In the locker room, I think everybody was kind of taken back a little bit how genuinely, how much gratitude he had to be here and his role as as a leader with these young guys,” Licht told Loose Cannons. “I mean, he’s talking to them between every play. Everybody likes him. He’s really fit it really well. And he really likes this locker room. He loves being here and I think he’s somewhere where, he just feels really comfortable here.”

Licht went on to say “everybody’s been taken aback” by how great of a guy Reddick is and perhaps that’s because of his holdout with the Jets and inaccurate assumptions.

“Actually, just, he is that man,” Licht said. “So, he’s’ turned out to be. Hopefully, he’s here for a while.”

Licht added that Reddick is “a lot stronger than I thought … he’s not just a speed rusher.”

The comments came a couple of weeks ago and Joe has no reason to believe the assessment of Reddick has changed at One Buc Palace. Reddick seems smiley with teammates and shined in the joint practice against the Steelers.

Now Reddick has to do the hard part. Play hard every snap and produce.

That’s really how you become “that man.”

Just get sacks Reddick, Nobody gives a damn about Jason’s fluff.

  2. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

Aqualung- I’ll save you the effort; It won’t matter as Reddick will be dropped 15 yards down field in coverage. There, that should do it.

Reddick is going to wreck shiat!

  3. Jake been there since the beginning Says:

I hope what we have left can get their game moving forward and get in on the sack train.

    ^^^^^^

Give me the fluff. Lot’s of fluff. All the fluff. We’ve suffered through enough malcontents to know they submarine an entire team.

    >Monte Kiffin the DC vs Monte Kiffin after he told the team he was quitting.
    >TB12 engaged vs TB12 1 foot out the door
    >AB engaged vs AB malcontent
    >D White engaged vs D White malcontent

    TRY THIS …
Hold out your hand. Spread all five fingers. Hit your leg. Now make a fist. Hit your leg again (not too hard).
    Which one hits harder?
Do you want a bunch of individuals or do you want a team?
    Culture matters.

Monte Kiffin Mal Content- give me a break SlyPirate

  6. KABucs Says:

    74 BucsFan… LOL
    Beat me to it!

    Reddick SMASH!!

  7. JA Says:

One thing’s for sure. Reddick wasn’t “that man” last year. Musta checked his manhood at the locker room door.
But that was last year. When playing for a dysfunctional organization like the Jets, why try? Why try to be a good teammate amongst a team full of losers? Just collect a paycheck and go home, right?
But now things are different. The Bucs are winners and Reddick has paid the storage price and retrieved his manhood.
So all is great for Reddick in Bucsville.
Double digit sacks, here we come!
    It’s that easy, ain’t it?

  8. Saskbucs Says:

Reddick should be licking his chops for week 1. Might have a chance to match last years sack total vs whatever 3rd string T he’s going up against.

  9. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

    @74 Bucs fan

    LMAOOOOOOO

What if they choose to run Robinson & Allegier with their Tackles being out? Gotta be able to play the run before you can rush the passer fellas, that’s just football 101

  10. White Tiger Says:

I like what I’m hearing about Reddick, can’t wait to see him prove it!

  11. ballwasher61 Says:

Hey 74, they did that in practice against Pittsburg…. and he picked it off…LMAO

  12. David Says:

I want to see two sacks from him against Atlanta

  13. Please Says:

Agree — the more times we hear the play by play say “Hassan Reddick has a huge sack!” the more fun the game will be.

  14. Aqualung Says:

Talk is getting cheaper. There’s so much of it, we should be paid to listen to it.

  15. Teacherman Says:

    @bucsforver

    Jason’s fluff?

    You’re gross.

Jason’s heart and soul have helped build the best roster and best locker room culture in the NFL.

I care about Jason’s Lichts philosophy.

    Go Bucs!

  16. garro Says:

Wow Jason is usually pretty straight with what he says but…

    Go Bucs!

  17. Buc Fan in Phoenix Says:

Am I expecting this guy to come up with huge sack totals, hurries, splash plays, being talked about around the water cooler on Monday? NO. Is he going to help us? YES. That would be a more realistic expectation.

  18. Thisisouryear!!! Says:

The culture Bowles has created allows for this.

  19. Kidfloflo Says:

I for one am totally expecting him to make splash plays, and huge sacks and for ppl to talk about him the next day! Otherwise we’re in trouble

  20. SenileSenior Says:

I too will take Licht’s “fluff”. Character matters. Teams that win Super Bowls typically have that something extra.

    Go Bucs!
