Jalen McMillan Has Injured Back, Possible Concussion

August 16th, 2025

Rough moment in Pittsburgh tonight when receiver Jalen McMillan landed on his head.

He was down on the turf for a couple of minutes and it felt a lot longer.

On a 3rd-and-8 throw on the Bucs’ opening drive, quarterback Teddy Bridgewater threw a high ball downfield to McMillan who elevated for the catch, got upended and landed on his head. The TV replay looked ugly, with McMillan landing on his head and his neck appearing to compress awkwardly.

Amazingly, McMillan held on for the 18-yard catch and a first down. Gamer!

The Bucs announced McMillan has a back injury and is being evaluated for a concussion. When he stood up for the first team, McMillan seemed to take a half step toward the wrong sideline and was directed to go in the other direction.

ok but he stood up–how back is that back injury when you are standing up? I am watching the diagram football on espn so I have no idea how bad this is so I am happy to here he is ambulatory and able to MAE x 4

I called this before the game started . Teddy throws nice accurate pretty lollipops that will get our receivers killed eventually. Get him out of there please.

  4. DBS Says:

Boo Hoo. Baker throws high and our receivers sky for them. Players can get hurt anytime.

  5. Irishmist Says:

DBS- It’s not just that he throws high it’s that he has no velocity, even Ronde Barber admitted this. Defensive backs in this league are just too fast, if a quarterback throws change-ups eventually the receivers are going to get hurt.

  6. LouisFriend Says:

That was a preventable injury. Don’t put starters in preseason games. Period.

And just like that, we’re down to only 2 of our top 4 WRs…

Hospital ball by Bridgewater. Glad to hear that McMillan isn’t paralyzed by that horrific throw.

  9. Greg Says:

Good God, I hope he’s ok. That throw was irresponsible and stupid.

  10. D-Rome Says:

I agree with some of you on that pass. It’s on the QB to put that ball in a better spot so their legs aren’t inadvertently clipped like that. I have no doubt that Teddy Bridgewater knows this and would admit himself it was a bad pass.

  11. Scott Says:

Todd Bowles wr killer,Chris Godwin last year vs ravens, then noodle arm bridewater with a starter jalen McMillan in his first game in awhile throws hospital ball, good thing we drafted emeka cause who knows when Godwin will be healthy, this is pre season game ,last year ravens game was over, Bowles has no commen sense

Where’s the link to this play? I wasn’t able to watch it so a link would be great!

  13. BucU Says:

This training camp and preseason is going exactly how I envisioned. Injuries after injuries after injuries. Same shyt. Different year.

    Crap throw

    @Irishmist,

That throw was high but it was not a lollipop. The biggest problem is the throw was high, the defender undercut Mac even before he caught the ball. I don’t think hitting him that way after the catch would have prevented the injury though. But, this is football. WRs should just stop trying to sky for a ball if they don’t trust their QB or if there’s no separation from the defender.

You got little dudes like Scotty Miller skying for balls that he has no reason to sky for and he comes out unscathed. It’s just bad luck.

Looks like he will be okay…scary stuff

  18. Capt.Tim Says:

Bridgewater made some great throws last night.
But if I was Jalen McMillian, I would beat the holy Sh*t out him.
Bridgewater almost got him killed, yet still played twice as well as “soon to be 4th string” Kyle Trask.
Let us pray- that Baker Mayfield is the healthiest man in America.
Otherwise, we’ll be talking about the draft by November.

  19. BucsFEver Says:

Get him out of there. There is a reason TB has gone from Team to Team. Bowles needs to smarten up.
