Critical Injury On Falcons’ Offensive Line

August 20th, 2025

Opportunity knocks for Haason Reddick.

Bad news in Falcons camp today, but uplifting news if you’ve already wagered on the Bucs-Falcons Week 1 clash in Atlanta.

Their 6-foot-7 right tackle, big-money veteran Kaleb McGary, was carted off the practice field with what reports say was a leg injury.

With starting Falcons quarterback Michael Penix being a lefty, McGary is his blind side protector. And the 2019 first-round pick is a beast of a run blocker. Obviously, this is a significant injury for the Faclons if McGary won’t be healthy in 18 short days.

Newcomer Bucs edge rusher Haason Reddick will line up primarily on the left side of the Bucs’ defensive line against the right tackle.

This sort of levels the playing field with the Bucs playing opening day without left tackle Tristan Wirfs. Joe will monitor updates on McGary.

@Joe And their swing tackle, Storm Norton, got injured and is out til sometime between Week 4-6

  2. First Last Says:

Our Edge Rushers will look like all-pro week 1. I’m calling 5 sacks on Michal Penix/s

  3. Bucs4Ever Says:

i’m not uplifted by any injury to any player for any reason

    jmho

  4. LakelandBuc Says:

The Falcons beat us twice last season with Kirk. Cousins

I don’t think McGary injury will make a big difference
They will attack the middle of our defense again
With quick slants, receivers running wide open

  5. Stpetematt Says:

Only this time they won’t be open at all. 🙂

  6. Saskbucs Says:

Certainly not rooting for anyone to get injured either, but it is important news and absolutely levels the field after losing Wirfs.

They can quick scheme but Lavonte, Winfield, Tykee and Parrish roaming the middle better not make it easy. Double London and attack!

  7. AK Says:

Falcon fans already were talking smack about our injuries put the cart before the horse. Can’t stand the Falcons. But anyway hopefully their injuries are nothing serious.

  8. Aqualung Says:

Great news. TB will now drop an extra pass rusher into coverage to compensate.

  9. 813bucboi Says:

    kinda agree with @lakeland

    they’ll game plan….

rah will have them fired up and prepared

    GO BUCS!!!!

This gave me a chuckle, but only because unfortunately it is so true.

  11. Usfbucs Says:

Those games last year killed me. Cousins was done but we made him look like he had years of good football left in him.

    Good for you…

Meanwhile when I was in high school in the late 80s, early 90s … well I think Sapp once told a story about how injuries were handled back then, and it included dancing over the knocked out person as everyone cheered – none of this sissy crap about fans of the other team “praying” for your guy to be OK, and everyone holding hands standing around because a guy got knocked out. Ugh, disgusting. Your way is how you end up with male cheerleaders twerking on the sidelines.

  13. Kenton Smith Says:

Rod Munch. Good to have you back. Just leave the hospital ball crap alone. Any ball can be a hospital ball. That part of the game hasn’t changed.

  14. miken Says:

Good news for us… as long as we dont leave the middle of the field wide a$$ open again.

  15. BucsOnDeck24 Says:

Would be a great time to sell our future draft capital for Micah Parsons and capitalize on the opportunity we have this year.

Imagine if we had Parsons, then Godwin and McMillan come back. That’s SB3.

  16. GoneGator Says:

We win the turnover battle we win. I think we’ll get a couple this game.

@Rod – cool story bro but? Caring about the health and welfare of your teammates and opponents is sissified and disgusting?

  17. Hodad Says:

Trading for Parsons guarantees nothing. He missed 6 games last year due to injury. He’s been on a good Dallas team four years now, and they’ve won nothing. Only guarantees in life are death, and taxes.

  18. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Something tells me that who ever their RT is on opening day, they will block Reddick VERY well. That is just how the Bucs roll. Just when you think we have an advantage on something, it normally turned out the opposite for the bucs.

  19. Baking with Grizz Says:

Robbie, I understand your pain. Let me guess. Your prayers were never answered.
Not to worry. Let me give you the answer to your prayers.

    Is called CONSTIPATION!!!

Drink plenty of water and the pain in the a$$$ will go away. You will feel happier and your faith in prayer will be warm and fuzzy again.

Meanwhile, I’ll keep you in my prayers. I hope this helps.

    I mean Rod

    Correct.

  22. Kenton Smith Says:

    Munch is back!

  23. Yall don't get it Says:

Kinda agree with Rod, I mean I dont want to see them literally die or suffer career ending injuries, but, f*** em!

  24. GoneGator Says:

Hopefully none of you tuff guys ever find yourself lying on the ground hurt, while people stand around and say f*** you.

  25. Bucswin Says:

Your Munch is a male cheerleader. Lol. Go Bowles!

  26. Jeffrey Becker Says:

Much just watched NFL films Eagles cheering Sapp injury.

Exactly, if you find out after the fact they’re paralyzed you say, “my bad.” Short of that, who cares, it’s football.

These cupcakes need to go watch the WNBA, it’s more their speed.

  28. FortMyersDave Says:

Falcons OL is now extremely thin as they already have had an injury or two which depleted their depth. The ATL fans are besides themselves on the ATL blogs, afraid that Penix is going to get blown up play after play. Additionally, their #1 backup, a swing tackle named Storm Norton just had ankle surgery and will be out for an extended time. Their third string guy, Elijah Wilkinson will now be tasked to protect Penix. He has played both Guard and Tackle and is a journeyman, playing for several teams over 9 years. Looks like the Bucs are not the only team with the injury bug and fans who think that their team is the only one who gets key injuries.

  29. geno711 Says:

Munch takes today much better than a few days ago when the dude acted like he had watched every Teddy Bridgewater pass ever and suggested all he threw were hospital balls.

When he was asked to support that with any evidence — he turtled up in his shell for a few days.

  30. Yall don't get it Says:

GoneGator – you think nice guy lavonte doesn’t want to catch a WR on a slant and cave his chest in? Please, sounds like a bunch of self righteousness because it’s the “right” stance to make. I’m not talking about dirty play.

Rod – I think many people would be surprised how some of their favorite players think and talk to each other about the game. I’m talking Mike, AWJ, Lavonte, Vita, Godwin, hell even Baker if he could.

  31. kgh4life Says:

Just play tighter coverage and the defensive performance will be a thousand times better. I still think the weakness of the defense is over the middle, lets see if Sir Voccea can play better than KJ Britt.

  32. Obvious One Says:

I’m with Gone Gator on this one…

It’s not like Rod said he’d pay for his hospital bill! Or did he? I better go back and read the rest 🙂

The Passion’s Great! The intensity and the placement… maybe not so much.

Also, A LOT of these guys Thank God for what they have and his protection. I do as well. It’s a sign of belief and a product of faith, and a labor of love and respect of others because someone gets it or More likely, They’re walked in those shoes before.

In ANY CASE, It’s NOT a sign of weakness….

  33. Bucfan1988 Says:

Yep, with Falcons also losing their swing tackle Storm Norton for 6-8 weeks, I expect Reddick to GO OFF in this game against Penix…

Since Penix is a lefty, Reddick will be rushing his back side!!!

Need minimum of 2 sacks by Reddick in this game!!

    LFG!!!
