Chris Braswell Played Like A Stud

August 17th, 2025

Solid evening.

Last week Chris Braswell was close to invisible despite playing most of the first worthless preseason game against Tennessee. That changed Saturday in Pittsburgh.

Playing one of the toughest, most physical teams in the NFL, the Steelers, Braswell shined. He had a sack (yay!), should have had two if not for a hold, had a pair of tackles, including a tackle for loss and a quarterback hit.

Now that’s more like a second-round draft pick!

Joe spoke with Braswell after the game and he swore he didn’t change his gameplan or mindset at all.

“I have the same mindset going into every game,” Braswell said. “And that is to cause havoc.”

The Steelers certainly had to account for him.

Braswell’s sack came in the second quarter, putting Skylar Thompson on the ground on third down to force a punt.

Forcing a punt! Can you imagine?

Braswell said his success came as a result of teamwork.

“It was a great gameplan,” Braswell said. “I just wanted to get better from last week. I wanted to build on that. I want to get better every single day.

“I definitely felt good, going out there and executing against a physical team like that. But hey, we’re Tampa Bay. We’re a physical team, too. We take pride in that.”

The Bucs were ready for Pittsburgh’s tough football. They came to play against the Steelers in the joint practice on Thursday. Braswell said his play in the joint practice carried over into the game.

“It helped a lot,” Braswell said of Thursday. “As a defense, we were physical in that practice. I felt like we won that practice as a whole. As a team. Especially our defense.

“We definitely out-physicaled them. We tried to come back [Saturday] and be physical.”

And Braswell was. ‘

Now the goal is to make sure that production from Braswell in Pittsburgh wasn’t just a fluke.

Good to see….Keep it up Braswell 🙂

  3. Rod Munch Says:

I didn’t think he had a bad week last week at all, was getting off the line quick and wasn’t getting stood up – tonight he got some numbers to go with that play. Glad for him, hopefully it’s clicking – but these were just backups. Still, he’s looked much better this preseason than last year, which is to be expected.

  4. MelvinJunior Says:

He showed-up tonight, and played like I knew he could. As I’ve expected from him. It was exactly what he needed. Now, keep it up, stay focused, confident, and build on this from it here on out. Just keep improving on getting a little bit better everyday, & he’s going to have a long great career.

  5. Obvious One Says:

Some might insinuate that it’s no big deal and that it’s just par for the course, Everything “as was expected”…. As if people are mechanical and no more exciting than toaster oven…Let me just say that, “Isn’t That a load of Unrealistic Crap”…

In Reality it’s Congratulations to Mr. Braswell!

It’s A Big Deal! You HAVE broken the Ice! Keep Clawing sir! You CAN ALWAYS be a Stud if You BELIEVE! You Just Make Sure that You TAKE IT! Because as you’ve figured out, Nobody is going to give it. So You Take It!

A HUGE statement was made today by OUR New Hero in the making!

Go Chris B ~ GO Bucs!

“Creating havoc!” Love it. This is Braswell’s break-out year and he is only 23 years old. Great things to come!

    Pittsburgh wasn’t just a fluke.🙏🙏

F’n A right Chris! Keep chippin away young fella. Played well against the Titan, the get off is legit. It’s time for him to start diversifying his attack plan and getting under his pads a bit better, but he’s been looking good. Stat sheet doesn’t tell the whole story

    way to go brazz

  10. SlurpandMunchMyRod Says:

He was a force out there

  11. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

Kind of reminds me of the JTS situation. As far as I know, there wasn’t anyone who had anything personal against him and for all I could tell seems like a decent guy. Just produce, it’s all we ask and the fan love will follow.

  12. garro Says:

    Yawn….Reddick play any?

We still have Pass rush problems I think.

    Go Bucs!

  13. Mj Says:

At least he’s a serviceable backup

  14. orlbucfan Says:

Braswell played very well last night, Second year? Wow, he’s young. Hope he has a lucky charm to guard against Buc Luck.

  15. DoooshLaRue Says:

I tuned in late in the 2nd quarter and he didn’t look that good. He was taking bad angles and getting swallowed up.
I’m glad to hear he was much more productive earlier in the game.

  16. Mveal2006 Says:

Im optimistic but but not convinced

But with situation at safety we need him to be a player not a project.

  17. Babygrace Says:

If Preseason games are so “worthless” why do you cover them and critique everyone of the players” They are not worthless to the players who are trying to make the the team! Your “worthless preseason” games moniker is an absolutely joke!!!

  18. Jeffrey Becker Says:

baby, they are worthless in one really big way, and to the best players. to each guy they are either worthless or valuable, but almost all of the guys they are valuable to will end up not playing football for us. leaning joe’s way. look at the injuries too.

  19. Anyhony Says:

Are both Joe’s in agreement on the worthlessness of preseason games?

  20. BucsfaninOregon Says:

I haven’t seen the game yet here in Oregon. BUT, I did see the first part of the Brown’s game. There was JTS! And, from what I saw he wasn’t too bad. Took inside rushes instead of getting completely ridden to the outside and out of the play. Wouldn’t that be something if he shines in a Cleveland jersey? What would that say about TB coaching?

  21. Mike Says:

He did play well, and YaYa did not, at least not from what I saw. I wonder if he and YaYa will be in more of a rotation as the season progresses?
