Benjamin Morrison Still Dealing With Hamstring Issue

August 26th, 2025

So it’s been three weeks since rookie Bucs cornerback Benjamin Morrison injured a hamstring.

The second-round pick hasn’t practiced since, and Joe’s report weeks ago that Morrison would miss the entire preseason was accurate.

Today, Todd Bowles told Joe and assembled media that Morrison is still out of practice but is running and might be ready to roll next week. That’s encouraging, but it also speaks to how significant Morrison’s hamstring issue was/is.

Joe doesn’t see hamstring issues in Morrison’s history at Notre Dame, so Joe hopes Morrison follows rehab orders closely and is honest with Bucs trainers. The Bus likely will need him when/if starting outside cornerback Jamel Dean gets injured.

Given his backup status, Joe expects Morrison to be playing special teams. Joe will be watching closely when Morrison is active and makes those full-throttle sprints down field.

Uh…..when do you report on the Final 53? Isnt that, like, the news story today?
Uh, Joe has written about some players. When the Bucs make it official, it will hold Joe’s interest. There have been many years with last-minute changes. –Joe

Someone should do a report on how the Bucs at least in our eyes may have more hamstring injuries than other teams? Don’t know for sure but they have their share. Maybe it’s due to practices in summer where field gets slick due to humidity. I know here it takes until about 10AM before the grass dries out. Whatever it is they should be doing better preventative training.

What is the freaking mystery with Bucs roster cuts?

  4. miken Says:

1st round talent that we get in the 2nd because of injuries, can’t practice because…. injuries.

  5. LUVMYBUCS Says:

Bucs personnel should kick the tires on DB Sebastian Castro—just cut by Pittsburgh. Nickel/safety hybrid with real pop; clean run fits and functional in coverage. Cheap depth, ST upside.

  6. Kenton Smith Says:

I was concerned about congenital hip issue that he’d just had surgery on before he got here. Then he was practicing full speed a little too quickly. Probably favoring that hip. Pulls a hamstring. That’s more worry than just a healing hamstring. And I don’t wanna be gloomy. He’s got a hitch in his get along and we need him to take as long as it takes to recover. Luckily we got a stud with our next pick who can play outside like the devil. Hoping Morrison is as good as we think he can be but right now make sure he’s 100 percent. Even if that’s halfway through the season. We have 2 corners with skills to be all pros. We have 2 safeties with skills to be all pros. 2 slots (Parrish and Izien) with upside. We need pressure on the QB. We don’t need to rush Morrison.

  7. Aqualung Says:

The Bucs training staff must offer hamstring weakening exercises.

  8. Kenton Smith Says:

Meant to say Pro Bowlers. Not all pro. Except Winfield. He’s proven he’s an All Pro. Won’t it be something if he plays like he was playing in 2023? Reddick has pro bowler written all over him. And LaVonte and Vea and Kancey are definitely pro bowlers. Diaby is exploding this year. Hmm. If our defense can play together this year instead of being mix and match then our Defense may be the story this year. If we stay healthy we’re winning the Super Bowl this year. And Morrison gets a ring whether he has to fill in or not.

Let the man heal…TBBF is quite certain he would rather be playing….

  10. Tony Says:

Alright. Hopefully the dude can turn into something good because I would’ve been iffy on drafting him knowing he was dealing with hip issues. Don’t know what it is with them that they always have to go after injury prone players. You’d think they’d want to stay as far away from them as possible knowing that they’ve been dealing with injuries a bunch. Sure any player can get hurt but why take that chance when you already know they’re dealing with injuries.

Another wasted 2nd round. Two hip surgeries and now two hamstrings. I wonder if Bowles did play with his father, would he have been drafted. This is a charity pick.

  12. ChiBuc Says:

Quick, resign him and cut Dean.

  13. ChiBuc Says:

A QB over a limping CB might have been prudent

  14. LakelandSteve Says:

Chill everyone, give the guy a chance to get healthy and play. He may turn out to be a great pick but he has to have a chance to get healthy. It’s quite possible the hip surgery is very hard to come back from in one year. Hopefully the Bucs take their time with him and let him completely heal before he plays.

First time experiencing Florida heat, not surprised his hammy acted up.

  16. Rod Munch Says:

Morrison was coming off a major injury, and if healthy, he is a 1st round talent. But so far he hasn’t been healthy. But he was always going to be a rookie this year, and personally I try to never count on rookies to do much – and with his injury, frankly I was surprised he got back on the field as quickly as he did, and perhaps it was too fast. Still, I wasn’t expecting to see much of anything until the 2nd half of the season. Thankfully Parrish seems well ahead of schedule, so that’s huge in buying some time.

Look at the dude he has like zero water in his body….. box trainers or clowns

  18. Kenton Smith Says:

Aqualung, you’re incorrigible. But that was funny!

  19. orlbucfan Says:

One area Bucs have depth in is the secondary. Let’s face it: No one on this blog is a NFL coach or general manager, regardless of the bloviating. The Bucs brass has seen something in Morrison. Hamstrings are b1tches in the injury dept. Morrison is a rookie; let him heal.

    ——

The human body is made up of about 60% water, if he had ‘like zero water in his body’, he’d look like a shriveled up prune and be dead.

  21. Hodad Says:

I don’t believe a word Bowles says about injured players. He flat outed lied about Teddy being to sick to play last Saturday. He was held out, because Todd Knew he was going to be the Backup QB, and didn’t want to risk him getting injured. Flat out lied. Todd has been very good at that.

  22. JimBobBuc Says:

It looks like Morrison will back up Dean. I’m a little surprised Bryce Hall was cut. It seemed like Hall had a good camp. Maybe he was too handsy and brittle?

  23. Oneilbuc Says:

Of course they drafted him knowing he was hurt before the draft. Todd Bowles dose what ever it takes to keep the players he likes staring. He love Dean like he loves Baker Mayfield Teddy Bridgewater and others and it doesn’t matter how bad they play. Dean will be trash again this year and Bowles is ok with that lol 🤣🤣. Dean is never mad when he gets burned and he doesn’t care because he knows he’s the starter regardless. The bucs will make the playoffs because the division is trash and we will get knocked out of the playoffs in the first or second round again and some of y’all will be ok with that.

  24. Woodman Says:

It’s his hamstring nothing to do with his hips?

If he was healthy, he’d have been a 1st round pick and not available.

  26. ChiBuc Says:

If “ifs” were tickles, you’d be $h!tt!ng giggles

  27. Fred McNeil Says:

Woodman, I’m pretty sure hamstrings attach to the hip bones

  28. BucU Says:

There’s every reason to be concerned about Morrison. He’s missed major time he needed to be a contributor in this defense. The last thing this guy needed was a new injury that costs him another month on the couch. He hasn’t played a down in this league and he’s already labeled as injury prone. As he should be.

  29. Teacherman Says:

    He came back to fast.

He shouid have taken it easy the first month.

    His body was still healing.

He hurt himself by practicing full speed.

I am worried it’s not really his hamstring.

They might be lying to avoid the fan backlash.

He should have eased his way back.

  30. ChiBuc Says:

    ^^ 7 lines, 2 pts

    1. He came back too fast
    2. They might be lying
