Todd Bowles Said Emeka Egbuka Looks “Really Sharp”

July 25th, 2025

Todd Bowles weighs in.

Pardon Joe for typing another slobbering piece on Bucs rookie wide receiver Emeka Egbuka.

Joe has done it in the past, and likely will into the future noting how “smooth” Egbuka looks when he’s on the practice fields at One Buc Palace. That word “smooth” just pops in Joe’s head every time Joe sees the Ohio State product make a catch, spin away from a defender, or whirl his way through traffic to get open.

He’s a Chris Godwin clone, perhaps a little bigger. But if you close your eyes after Egbuka makes a play, Joe has the image of No. 14 in his head.

When Godwin does come back, look the eff out, NFL!

So today after Day 3 of Bucs training camp practice, Bucs coach Todd Bowles was asked about Egbuka.

Now Bowles made it clear he wasn’t talking about Egbuka’s pass-catching ability, which everyone can see. He’s got that down. No, Bowles talked about the other elements of Egbuka’s game that led the Bucs to draft him No. 19 overall.

“Emeka looked really sharp running routes,” Bowles said. “Really crisp.”

Joe is happy that the common, beer-swilling Bucs fan like Joe has been allowed to see the past two practices. Now folks are beginning to see with their own eyes what Joe has seen several times:

The Bucs have a smooth operator at receiver.

EE is the prototype Licht draft pick…..intelligent, loves the game and gives 110% on every play and to his teammates.

    Hi Joes,

Does EE remind you of Justin Jefferson at all? They had almost identical measurables. If we just added a Jefferson/Godwin clone on this team it sure seems like it would be hard as hell to stop this offense…

HE looked GREAT today. Everyone around me was super impressed. Magnets for hands

Look the eff out is correct Joe , this team is going to be good this season , Defense will carry us til Wirfs and Godwin come back. When they do comeback Bucs will be a very dangerous team. LFG!!!

Major kudos to Licht/Bowles: They know what CG14 has gone through his stay here. Now, we will find out if this EE is the answer.

Forgot always available because he’s not in the pokie

Joe hasn’t seen enough of Jefferson to make an honest assessment. Maybe have seen two Vikings games the past two years.

Joe has typed many, many, many times Egbuka is a Chris Godwin clone. Maybe a little bigger than Godwin. But that’s who Egbuka reminds Joe of, very much so.

No disrespect to CG EVER, but EE is, I think, a little more polished coming out of college. DO NOT get me wrong CG has been class and a pro since he first got here. Maybe it’s the years CG has been here that I forget how good he was when he got here and am reading the reviews from the coach’s as we type, but when you look at the last 3 years of Ohio State tape it is kinda freaky how this guy does things that open it up for others and THEN flourish’s himself. I believe he was the best receiver in this years draft, THAT’S why Tampa is google eyed over him but now he is showing why. The other idiots out in NFL land missed what this tribe, the Bucs Tribe, was looking at.

We need another photo shoot like they did back in the day of the players dressed in pirate garb on an island surrounding a chest of loot with the SB trophy smack in the middle of it. Captains garb, mates garb, all of it

  10. Joe Says:

Ballwasher spitting truth about Egbuka at Ohio State.

EE is like godwin on steroids. I hated the pick in the moment but now I love it. Licht is not only the best gm the bucs have ever had one one of the best in the league
