Bucs Receivers Don’t Screw Up Often
July 21st, 2025
Few “errors.”
It isn’t all about yards and YAC for Bucs receivers.
Noted handicapper turned stathead Warren Sharp has a thing called “receiver error.” This is basically when a receiver screws up, resulting in an incompletion.
Joe assumes this is just a fancy way of saying “drop.” Joe cannot imagine what else it would be? Unless one is in the huddle or a coach’s headset, how does anyone know a receiver ran a wrong route?
Well, it seems Baker Mayfield’s incompletions aren’t because Bucs receivers have screwed up. Well, at least not much. In charting all “receiving errors” that lead to an incompletion, Sharp has the Bucs near the bottom of the league.
The Bucs had the eighth-fewest receiver errors in the league last season, per Sharp. And that was with a rookie as a No. 3 receiver, too.
This really isn’t surprising when you factor in who the Bucs’ two best receivers are. But after Chris Godwin went down midseason, a lot of bubble players logged time. It doesn’t appear they Pearl Harbored the team. So it is good to know the Bucs have quality depth at the position.
highest % of receiver error causing incompletions
1. Green Bay Packers
2. New York Jets
3. Indianapolis Colts
4. New York Giants
5. Cleveland Browns
6. Los Angeles Chargers
7. New Orleans Saints
8. Pittsburgh Steelers
9. Atlanta Falcons
10. Carolina Panthers
11. Houston Texans…— Warren Sharp (@SharpFootball) May 30, 2025

Coaching matters.
Now look at the defense…..no, nevermind.

I don’t know what these people be watching
But ME have dropped touchdown after touchdown
Dropped passes after passes
None more clearly than the dropped TD against the Ravens
On the play that he got hurt, that one play changed the game
Baker threw a pic soon after in the end zone
It was a 7 point swing, demoralizing the team

Lakeland Buc …. Come on man. Evans has certainly had some bad drops but so does every high end WR not named Rice, Moss or Johnson and I imagine they still had the odd one.
That dropped TD vs the Ravens, Mike shouldn’t have been in the game running go routes like that and he hurt his hammy… safe to say that’s why he dropped it and pretty good excuse.
