New Bucs Guard Michael Jordan Speaks

July 27th, 2025

Michael Jordan is in the building — straight from the zoo.

New Bucs guard Michael Jordan, a six-year veteran of the NFL trenches, was signed this week and was at practice today. The 6-6, 315-pounder told Joe he was at the zoo when he got the call that the Bucs wanted to sign him. He was elated.

The 2019 fourth-round pick of the Bengals told Joe he had no connection to the Bucs other than his 2022 teammate at the Panthers: Baker Mayfield.

Jordan was very serious with Joe until asked about Mayfield. Jordan then smiled wide and said Baker is the same guy he was with the Panthers and is an uplifting guy to bring around.

“I know if Baker’s on a team, it’s got to be a great team to be on,” Mayfield said. “He’s a great leader. And that’s all I’ve seen these first couple of days, and amazing treament of players. I appreciate these guys and I just want to bust my ass for them.”

Jordan, 27, noted that Bucs fans will see a player — at practice or in preseason — who gives his all on every snap.

Good Luck. He sounds like a good TEAM 1st type guy. I like the statement about the Bucs organization treating the players good. GO BUCS a Class TEAM!!!!

Correction, 2022 teammate with the panthers. I know, seems like it was 2023 but if that was the case then Baker never played for the BUCS lol! 2023 was the year I deployed to the Middle East and had to watch every game at night or the morning after… I lost a lot of sleep for the Lions game and was severely disappointed

He’s a good guy to have in the Oline room, especially with Sua Opeta mysteriously on the Pup list.
Opeta would have add veteran presence and some talent.
But that injury of his seems to be serious, and still not healed.

    Michael Jordan adds some experience.
Our new mammoth Tackle is who I’ll be watching. He was a beast until he ended up hurt.
He might be a project worth developing.

  7. Mark Maletic Says:

Well this is good that they signed a player that baker’s got a little bit of report with. The guy you gotta trust on your back side. And when the starter comes back he will be a good back up to the starter.

As some would post,” Can he learn to drop off the line into coverage?”….Oh, wait a minute…

  9. C J Says:

    Shouldn’t it be…”I know if Baker’s on a team…” Jordan said?

  10. Aqualung Says:

Can he drop deep into empty (no receivers) zone? He’ll be awesome as a jack of all trades on Todd’s team.

More expensive for the O – line. Love this signi g. We may need to look at more OTs, though. We’ll see. Go Bucs!!
