Haason Reddick Has An Educated Fan In Robert Ayers
July 25th, 2025It turns out the Bucs have an additional real-life Haason Reddick expert on staff.
So much of the hope surrounding the Bucs becoming a top-flight defense again revolve around Reddick, the free agent edge rusher Tampa Bay hopes is the guy he was prior to his play nosediving last year with the Jets.
One guy helping guide Reddick to regain his star status is former Bucs edge rusher Robert Ayers.
Two of Ayers’ 10 NFL seasons were in Tampa (2016 & 2017), and now he’s back as a Bucs coaching fellow, stepping away temporarily from his full-time gig as as University of Tennessee assistant football coach.
Joe talked to Ayers today and asked for his take on Reddick. It turns out Ayers has been a student of Reddick.
“From being into coaching at the college level, I did a lot of NFL breakdowns and studying those guys, he was one of the main guys that I studied,” Ayers said of Reddick. “Especially the years he was [on the Eagles]. I think they had like 78 sacks on the year. So, you know, I literally watched every sack he had the past few years.
“I’m in a different standpoint now, just here from a coaching standpoint, so I have to look at him a little bit differently. But I’m still a fan. I still admire his game. I pick his brain and ask him questions; he’s asking me questions. So i’s good to be around him. I watched him from a far. Now I get to be around him in practice, asking him what he’s thinking what he saw. He’s a hell of a player.”
Joe loved hearing this from Ayers, who is straight shooter. Any positive buzz about Reddick, and there’s been a lot, helps Joe sleep at night.

Hassan Reddick can play inside or outside
He was 1st round draft pick from Temple as a ILB
His first years with Arizona was playing ILB
So he has versatility as a LB

@Cricket – I agree. RiddlemyPeter needs something. G/F, B/F. whatever. At least make a post with something meaningful rather than the same lame “duck” comments all the time. Maybe that’s why he or she does it… cause RiddlemyPeter is in fact a “Lame Duck”.
@RiddlemyPeter – they have pills now for that. Post something meaningful with insight or just don’t post.

“…“Especially the years he was [on the Eagles]. I think they had like 78 sacks on the year. ”
Bama, you need to work on that reading comprehension, lol. 78 sacks was for the team, not just Reddick. Still, 78 is a hell of a number.

Ayers’ injury was very costly for the 2016 Bucs.
