Graham Barton Shuns In-Season Social Media

July 28th, 2025

Unless his parents send him there, Bucs center Graham Barton avoids the cesspool that is social media.

That was Barton’s message today to Pat And Aaron on WDAE radio.

Smart man.

Co-host Pat Donovan asked Barton if he has seen breakdowns of his play produced by former NFL offensive lineman Brian Baldinger, in addition to other critiques.

“I don’t have social media right now. I’ll get Instagram in the offseason, like keep up with my buddies and stuff, but honestly I try not to see that stuff,” Barton said.

“It’s great; I appreciate it. For me to be at my best, I gotta listen to may coaches and myself, and try to block out the outside noise. You know, that’s just a mental performance thing that I think helps. The media, they’re not in the meeting rooms. They’re not in the film rooms. They don’t necessarily know the specific coaching points.

“Now a lot of them know a lot of things; that’s not what I’m saying. I’m just saying like how can I be the best Tampa Bay Buccaneers center? That’s listen to my coaches, watching the film and trying to block out any outside criticism [or praise]. But I see some of it. My parents send it to me, but I try to stay away.”

No surprise it’s Barton’s parents trying to get in his head. Mom and dad are just too proud, Joe supposes.

Of course, Barton’s social media policy also seems to have spared him waves of hate after his fourth-quarter screwup in the Bucs-Commanders playoff game in January.

I guess he wont see this article.

Barton is solid but I still question a Center in the 1st. It’s hard to complain about the best OL in football. He definitely made the team better. I’m looking to see if makes the same leap in year 2 as Wirfs, Mauch, and Goedeke.

i swore it off decade ago or more, smart guy. negativity on there, if you remove it, can result in a life of zero negativity (i don’t watch news either lol)

I’d hope all the players would avoid the bulk of social media and “fan sites”. They don’t need to hear the krap from wannabe coaches, general mgrs, critics who knows very little about the game etc etc. Players are human 1st (and young humans) and they don’t need the unqualified analysis of the masses to assist them. It (social media and blogs) can only do them harm – there’s nothing to gain for them.

    Barton gets it.

He’s already talked about the play last year, he owned it, weather correct or not and move on what else can you do? Like he said, he’s in the meeting rooms, the huddle, the coach’s ears, nothing else matters. So what if he make’s a mistake, everyone does. Now if ya wanna talk about that holding call in Atlanta…..

If you don’t have social media then YOU missed a WNBA player’s wig fall off, and her running off the court, and THEN a fan was ejected for making fun of it!
