Dominating The NFC South

July 14th, 2025

NFC South king.

Every NFL coach usually has a set of goals he lays out before the season starts.

Obviously the first would be to win the Super Bowl. But a key path to paving the way to a Super Bowl berth would be goal No. 2.

That would be to win your division. So it stands to reason the only NFC team that has been in the playoffs five straight years with four straight division titles has a decent playoff record.

And the Bucs do. From the calculator of noted handicapper turned stathead Warren Sharp, in the last 30 divisional games for the Bucs, Tampa Bay has 20 wins. Only Dallas has as many divisional wins in the NFC.

So the goal for the Bucs is the same: Keep dominating the division and things will fall into place.

Winning some games after meeting your first goal ought to be high on the Bucs’ wish list this year.

ATL and CAR should both improve a little, but the division still runs through Tampa, so long as this team doesn’t get ravaged with injuries (and Wirfs doesn’t miss extended time / come back and play like a shell of his former self).

    LOL

Let’s try losing to Kirk Cousins twice, basically losing to Bryce Young and the Panthies except for Anthony Nelson’s miracle, and nearly losing the last home game against the wretched Saints with Spencer Rattler at QB.

4-2 is easily 2-4 and the “defensive masturmind” would be coaching students at Temple how to get up in the morning and go to class.

Todd is a great personnel assistant.

He sucks as a dual hatted bi-coachal guy.

  3. BuccaDAWG Says:

The Bucs are still the class of the Siuth. The chick’s & carolina will both be alit better but still not good enough, the Bucs got slit better this off season also. Bucs will dominate, BANK IT!!!!

  4. Aqualung Says:

Todd will dominate as a junior college professor.

  5. ModHairKen Says:

So 4-2 in the division? That’s the trend. Atlanta will not be better. They will regress. Morris is the same as he ever was. Carolina is in neutral. Canales is not a good HC. And NO looks like the lead singer of Motley Crue.

  6. LakelandBuc Says:

The NFC South were once the best division in the NFL, by far. Cam Newton, Matt Ryan, Drew Brees were Super Bowls QBs. They were MVP of the league, First team All-Pro. But these teams didn’t have a plan to replace these great QBs. But we brought in TB, then Baker.

Jason Licht, Todd Bowles deserves a lot of praise for not allowing his to hit bottom like the Saints, Panthers, Falcons…

  7. JimBobBuc Says:

A 4-2 record in this terrible division isn’t dominating. The Bucs continually play down to opponents. The Bucs should be sweeping the division and blowing out division rivals. I don’t see the killer instinct to put teams away.

LakelandBuc, good point! It’s nice to be king of the hill.

    Don’t care about wins?

(You cared enough about the subject to comment. So to answer your question about “Who cares?” Well, you do.)

haha i do appreciate the content but not this stat. just another curve fitted bit of garbage. “oh well we killed it in the second half of the 3 games after the bye that werent night games playing on real turf” type of stuff….

  12. Fan of the South Says:

Since Brees retired the Bucs dominating the South is about as much to brag about as having the nicest trailer in the park.

Bucs, Bills and Chiefs are all good teams but dominated in their Division because the rest of the teams were train wrecks or worse.

Dungy took a dismal team in a much tougher Division than the current NFCS to a Conference Championship Game in his 4th year and was gone after following it up with 2 Wild Card Exits.

Bowles took a team that won 13 games in 2021 and turned it in to an 8 win team the following year. Followed that up with 9 and 10 wins in the worse of the NFC Divisions. No real playoff success except in 2023*

If the front office treats them both equally Bowles needs to reach the NFC Championship this season or he may not make it through his 5th season let alone 6. Especially with his only Playoff Victory against a team like the 2023 Eagles were by time they reached the playoffs.

Our Bucs won the DIVISION. i DON’T THINK YOU CAN SAY THEY DOMINATED IT. hELL, THEY LOST TWICE TO THE FALCONS.
