Bryce Hall Shows Up Again
July 24th, 2025
Impact.
Joe doesn’t put a whole lot of stock into quarterbacks throwing picks in training camp practices. Especially when the quarterback is Baker Mayfield.
We know Mayfield is “The Man.” And Mayfield often will try to test things, see what he can get away with. Besides, there’s a new offense to learn this year.
Back to cornerback Bryce Hall, he played a whole half or so against the Commandos in last year’s season-opener. Then he had his ankle wrecked like Chris Godwin would six weeks later against Baltimore.
At least in two training camp practices this year, Hall seems to be around the ball often. For a defensive back, it’s never a good thing to be allergic to the football.
Hall had another pick-six today and it was really ugly on Mayfield’s part. Again, new offense, second day of practice and aside from the devout Kyle Trask fan club, no sober person thinks Mayfield is going anywhere.
Mayfield tried a throw to the left sideline. Either he was blinded by the sun, got sweat in his eyes or was momentarily blinded, Mayfield hit Hall square in the numbers as if he was Rachaad White on a screen pass.
Hall couldn’t have asked for a better pass to pick. It was so egregious that Hall caught the pass on about the 20-yard line and didn’t even try to house it as nobody stood between him and the goal line.
Coaches started hollering and Hall decided, eh, may as well, and just meandered into the end zone.
Last year during training camp, Joe noticed Hall was incredibly handsy, a holding/pass interference call waiting to happen. Not so this summer (so far).
So yesterday Bucs coach Todd Bowles raved about depth on the team. He, of course, wants picks, too. Almost forgotten, Hall may be providing Bowles with two of his offseason wishes.

Idk if anybody remembers, but Hall was pretty experienced before the Jets replace him with Sauce Gardner.
I remember the buzz about him last offseason being how astute he came off in his pressers. Probably tried to cut Baker some slack, but forget that house it and talk some trash to him-in the nicest way you can.
1 more forgotten man in our secondary, along with Izien. Now just wanna hear that Kindle Vidor can make a play or two.

I love Wirfs. He didn’t have to put on his practice jersey but he wants to be a part of practice so bad. He will be back sooner than later.

Well that’s at least three picks Mayfield has had in two days now , but I guess you gotta let Mayfield practice being Mayfield, how else is he going to lead the league again in picks , and chokes in playoffs if he doesn’t practice it?

Is that five legit CBs, six with Izien, after having maybe 2.5 last year?

I love Bryce Hall as NFL Cornerback,
He’s a young, experienced, intelligent, big CB
He was once clocked at 22 mph on a rundown with the Jets
His only problem is staying healthy
If him Dean, Morrison, can stay healthy this season
We got the best Corners in the NFC South

JD,
Are you on the right website?

Bama Rich , Sometimes I wonder myself , I am a Tampa Bay Fan, have been since the beginning ,and before that I was a fan of Vince Lombardi’s Packers and Bear Bryant’s Crimson Tide , but when We start giving players passes for screwing up in practice I begin to wonder, I thought We were on the right track When Coach McKay was asked after one of our early egregious losses , what he thought of his offenses execution and he replied ,”I’’m for it”, They all got it , You play like you practice especially when you get into pressure situations and if you didn’t perform in practice, you didn’t play in games , seems we’ve forgotten that.

Thank you for the pic of Tristan. Reading and hearing about him being there is great, but seeing the photo is so much better. He has the spirit!
Mayfield trying to throw left and hitting Hall was probably due to the sweat pouring down and blinded by the sun. It’s hot out there.

BINGO!!!!!!!!
same thing happened last year….
baker was tossing picks all throughout TC and all we heard was, ” its only training camp” but we all saw that trend continue…..
in order to get this corrected, grizz needs to challenge baker…only 4 INTs from the first day of padded practice to the first preseason game….
baker leads the league in INTs again, and we’ll be 1 & done in the playoffs again
GO BUCS!!!!!

Gotta find something to beotch about on day 1 of camp I guess.
🙄
If it’s a camp long pattern, that would be different.

If Bryce can avoid injury and the neutering knife of Mr Twocoach, he could become a starter. Dude knows how to play man.

Bryce could have had a second pick 6 today in the right flat but dropped it. Trask threw an out late and Bryce was waiting. Seems like we might have some depth in the back end.

His injury killed us last year.
Winfield’s probably more so but being able to play Hall over Hayes/Funderbunk would have been a huge upgrade. CB depth is night and day compared to last year. Hopefully these guys stay healthier through first couple months.

So I was reading this post, seeing the embedded Twitter out of the corner of my eye made me excited to finish reading. I thought I was going to get to the Bryce Hall interception.
Imagine my disappointment. Instead, I get to see Tristan Wirfs imitating Jimmy from South Park.

Ouch! That pic of Wirfs hurt my eyeballs.
Get well soon big man!
Go Bucs!

Bryce Hall can play when he’s getting good coaching.
