Tuesday Bucs Minicamp Notes (Day 1)
June 10th, 2025*Bucs kick off warm-ups inside the Glazer shed. Threatening weather outside but no rain.
*Newcomer punter Riley Dixon (bizarrely wearing his No. 92 jersey) is hammering punts against the interior roof to loosen up.
*Kameron Johnson, Jalen McMillan, Tez Johnson. Emeka Egbuka, Dennis Houston, Garrett Greene and rookie corner Jacob Parrish are fielding punts. Coaches working returners on not catching punts within the 10 yard line. Perhaps Joe won’t lose as much hair this season.
*Lots of very detailed punt return/coverage work.
*Working on the side as a foursome are Haason Reddick, Vita Vea, Calijah Kancey and YaYa Diaby. Clearly working on pass rush games and positioning/spacing. Undrafted rookie free agent defensive tackle Desmond Watson jogs over to join them after a few minutes working elsewhere. Interesting choice throwing Watson in with this group. Logan Hall joins later.
*Reddick certainly looks to be in great shape.
*Jamel Dean and Zyon McCollum have a long conversation with cornerbacks coach Kevin Ross during the early special teams period.
*Practice moves outside.
*Drop! In drills. Benjamin Morrison can’t hang on.
*Nice route-jump (in drills). McCollum with the pick, pokes ball up with one hand and catches with two.
*No sign of Chris Godwin. Mike Evans is on the field with the first team as 11-on-11 begins.
*Two runs right for Bucky Irving. No tackling or hitting or contact. So it looks beautiful.
*Mayfield fires left to Egbuka for 5 yards.
*Mayfield over the middle complete to Cade Otton.
*A Rachaad White run followed by another. This is second-team work.
*Tristan Wirfs wearing a big knee brace on right leg.
*Out walks Chris Godwin for the first time. He’s not practicing, and he didn’t jog to the sideline.
*Rookie undrafted running back Josh Williams flashes good hands on a low throw.
*Mayfield throws a dart to Mike Evans for 8 yards. Evans juggles the ball in his gut but catches.
*Mayfield throws incomplete and offers a high-five to Chris Braswell for the pressure.
*Trask deep right to McMillan wide open. Joe’s not sure why the catch wasn’t made.
*Kyle Trask spikes a ball with nobody open.
*Wirfs now walks away from the team to work with trainers on a side field.
*More good hands by Williams.
*Quick slant Mayfield to Evans. Easy completion.
*Great catch by Evans on a crossing route with Dean in coverage. Hands away from his body.
*Mayfield to McMillan left sideline route complete.
*7-on-7 work
*Near pick by rookie cornerback Jacob Parrish.
*Interception by cornerback Bryce Hall! Yes, the same Bryce Hall who had a dislocated ankle/broken leg in Week 1.
*11-on-11 sees a nice deep ball to Evans in the left corner of the end zone with McCollum and a safety in good coverage. Everyone kind of lets up because, well, why get hurt? Evans is too smart for that.
*TWICE in this session Egbuka flashes superstar hands on short missiles from Mayfield. As a guy next to Joe said, ‘Man, he really snatches that ball.’
*Spirited red zone session with Baker Mayfield spiking a ball in the ground. Defense winning overall and flying around.
*Back-of-end-zone throw from Mayfield to McMillan. Tykee Smith flies in very late to slightly affect Evans.
*Evans skies but pulls up on back-of-end-zone throw so he doesn’t hit goal post base.
*Trask complete in end zone to close practice (at 11:07 a.m.) to Kameron Johnson with Roman Parodie in coverage.
Joe will update with more notes this afternoon.

I’m glad the Reddick angst is over (or should be).
June 10th, 2025 at 11:57 am
Thanks for the notes. I wonder if Wirfs’ leg is something to keep an eye on?

Sounds like the DBs were active but Let up?…Those dudes have no real reason to Let up do they?
Did anyone but Braswell show up in practice? Pass rush wise? I know its OTAs but…
Good stuff as aways Joe!

Who would be our back-up left tackle … just in case?
June 10th, 2025 at 12:24 pm
Bench Tristan Wirfs now

Nice – thanks Joe!
“Working on the side as a foursome are Haason Reddick, Vita Vea, Calijah Kancey and YaYa Diaby.”
That’s the lineup that we’ve been waiting to see. Our Super Bowl hopes are basically riding on those 4 guys shoulders this year….
“a high-five to Chris Braswell for the pressure.” – make it those 5 guys….
June 10th, 2025 at 12:48 pm
Reddick wasn’t at Bucs facilities in the off-season, I wonder where he trained it?

Joe: “Working on the side as a foursome are Haason Reddick, Vita Vea, Calijah Kancey and YaYa Diaby. Clearly working on pass rush games and positioning/spacing.”
What coach was leading this, Strong or Foote?
June 10th, 2025 at 1:06 pm
Joe: “Mayfield throws incomplete and offers a high-five to Chris Braswell for the pressure.” I’m guessing Braswell was against Goedeke, so a great pass rush indeed.

I am ready for pre season games I need to seem some of these young undrafted players and Rookies we drafted in action under the lights.
June 10th, 2025 at 1:29 pm
Concerned about Tristan.
Joe, please stay on top of that and keep us posted.
Glad to hear Desmond joined Hassan, et al in that four man group. It’s a long shot, but he could be the back up we need for Vita.
Sounds like Chris B led the D today.
Zyon with a pick is another step in the right direction. He’s steadily improved each year.
Joe, thank you for taking the time to record all these notes and posting them for us.

Wirfs will be fine, I believe. He’s got plenty of time to get right before anything meaningful.
Bryce Hall, rising from the ashes.
June 10th, 2025 at 3:07 pm
I completely forgot about Bryce Hall being on the team
June 10th, 2025 at 4:01 pm
Great notes and thank you!
Worried about Tristan.

Thank you Joe. The natives of the Camp Notes Tribe are well pleased.
Otherwise, they will come after you with sticks and torches if you don’t deliver.
June 10th, 2025 at 9:25 pm
Thanks Joe. This is going to be an awesome 53.
