Trashing The Bucs’ Ceiling
June 27th, 2025
“Shady’s an ass, Cade.”
Retired superstar running back LeSean “Shady” McCoy and nine-year receiver James Jones ganged up on the Bucs during their popular The Facility show yesterday.
“Their ceiling is getting to the playoffs and winning a game,” Jones said. “But the Bucs ain’t a dominant team like that getting to the NFC Championship when you have the Eagles and Packers and the Lions and the Rams and teams like that. I just cannot see that happening. We have seen their ceiling … Their ceiling is making it to the playoffs with a subpar record and beating a team — one team — and that is it.”
McCoy, a 2020 Buccaneer, agreed completely with Jones.
A noted Baker Mayfield detractor for the past few years, McCoy said he “can finally say when I look at Mayfield, ok, he’s a good quarterback.”
However, McCoy sees Mayfied as a “good” QB in a sea of NFC quarterbacks better than good.
“You gotta go against Baker Mayfield? I don’t think you’re worried. I don’t think you’re trippin’,” McCoy said. “He’s the worst one [of the good NFC quarterbacks], and that’s not a bad thing.”
Per McCoy, he believes Dak Prescott, Jared Goff, Jalen Hurts, Jayden Daniels and Matthew Stafford are a solid level better than Mayfield, so the Bucs are not a true contender.
McCoy is convinced Todd Bowles is “a tremendous coach” and the Bucs have a good roster. He also thinks Bucky Irving could become a top-5 running back this year. But Mayfield will keep the Bucs’ postseason ceiling low, he says.

Saw Packers. Immediately discredited
June 27th, 2025 at 9:16 am
McCoy has been a Baker hater for years, not a single word out of his mouth should be taken seriously when this clown scored 11 on the Wonderlic.
Truly a mind built for running face first into 300lb line men.
June 27th, 2025 at 9:17 am
The Rams??? THE PACKERS??? What season of the NFL do they watch? Dak Prescott, Goff and a ROOKIE a solid level above Baker?? Even Hurts is arguable.
I know I’m optimistic about the Bucs and may inflate their abilities in my head but these comments seem to be ABSURD.
The disrespect is astonishing and the fact they analyze the game, get paid to do it, and spew this nonsense to the public is honestly incomprehensible.
I mean Dak F’n Prescott, what an absolute JOKE.
June 27th, 2025 at 9:25 am
The one whose trippin is Shady. The defense is the reason for the ceiling and so far the half timer at two critical coaching positions has failed to correct the defects.
June 27th, 2025 at 9:31 am
Total BS, Shady McCoy is a clown he was the worst RB on our 2020 roster and shouldn’t have gotten a ring. Baker Mayfield is going to have another career year this season mark it down Baker Mayfield for MVP 2025
June 27th, 2025 at 9:32 am
So, the ceiling is the same as last year’s result? The defense is the wildcard. It should be much improved through FA, the draft and better health. If so, look out! The offense will take care of things on their side of the ball.
June 27th, 2025 at 9:37 am
Mc Coy a superstar Joseph? Since when? This is new for me!!
June 27th, 2025 at 9:37 am
Baker is better than most QB’s on that list. Shady never give Baker props. At least he’s not as bad as that clown Steve Smith.
June 27th, 2025 at 9:47 am
Ok. Really, that’s ok! Talk about bulletin board motivation. No need to argue, just go out and show them how wrong they are!
BEAT ATLANTA!
June 27th, 2025 at 9:48 am
McCoy is full of crap
June 27th, 2025 at 10:05 am
Zzbucs – LeSean McCoy was the RB everyone thought Reggie Bush was going to be.
Probably the most elusive RB this side of Barry Sanders.
June 27th, 2025 at 10:11 am
How easy is it to ignore stats & any off-season improvements and just say that a team is going to do no better than they did the last two seasons. Ignore facts that the team had some problems and weaknesses that are now fixed.
* + Hassan Reddick & David Walker – no JTS
* Healthy Dennis + Walker/Jones – no Brett
* + Morrison & Parrish -> healthy Dean & Hall
* Healthy AWJ – Smith to safety – no Whitehead
* + Ebuka -> health CW (eventually)
* New, good punter Dixon -> no Camarda
* Same dominant offensive roster in almost the same system with an OC who knows the team and will just tweak things, hopefully only for the better
That’s not even all of it. There were some coaching switches, a time clock specialist hire & a Bowles epiphany (the last two we don’t even know much about).
Only local media and fans know and acre about these details… that in fact make the ceiling much higher.
June 27th, 2025 at 10:11 am
I love Baker. That being said, his one flaw IMO is his deep ball. If he could throw the ball deep and hit the receiver in stride, he’d be one of the best. That’s why Brady was the GOAT. He could make every throw.
June 27th, 2025 at 10:15 am
Fix the defense and limit third down conversions and the offense will be able to routinely score 30+ points. McCoy and Jones are totally wrong about Mayfield. He can win the SB, with help from the defense.
June 27th, 2025 at 10:21 am
McCoy … “He (Baker) is the worst one [of the good NFC quarterbacks, and that’s not a bad thing.”
Everyone’s entitled to their opinion. McCoy’s is wrong, but it’s still his opinion. His position that ‘Mayfield will keep the Bucs’ postseason ceiling low’ is what’s laughable. Without Baker throwing 41 TDs, completing 71.4% of his passes, rushing for 378 yards, 3 TDs & 24 first downs our Bucs would’ve been hard-pressed to finish 10-7 & win the NFC South crown.
In terms of Baker’s ranking among other QBs, NFL dot com ranked him as #6 for last season. Lamar Jackson (12-5), Josh Allen (13-4), Joe Burrow (9-8), Jared Goff (15-2) and Sam Darnold (14-3) all ranked in front of him. Behind Baker were Jayden Daniels (#7), Patrick Mahomes (#8), Matthew Stafford (#12), Jalen Hurts (#16) and Dak Prescott (#19).
Apparently NFL dot come doesn’t share McCoy’s rankings either.
June 27th, 2025 at 10:22 am
Fucx those guys!!!
June 27th, 2025 at 10:46 am
Pretty spot on analysis. Not a criticism to state that the Bucs will make the playoffs and win a playoff game. Saying The Eagles, Lions and Packers are above the Bucs is fairly accurate and the Rams are always a threat because they have one of the top two HC’s in the NFL. Not sure why all of the Pearl Clutching and anger, The Bucs are also Below the Commanders. All of this does not mean that if the Bucs stay healthy and get hot after Christmas they can make some noise and make a deep playoff run. Its July, everyone take a deep breath.
June 27th, 2025 at 11:05 am
“Saying The Eagles, Lions and Packers are above the Bucs is fairly accurate and the Rams are always a threat” “The Bucs are also Below the Commanders”
I disagree, but I want to hear how you come to these conclusions. Eagles and Lions, I’ll concede, but when it comes to the Rams and the Packers (Commanders too but we lost in the playoffs so I’ll leave them out) where do you see them being above us? Jordan Love hasn’t shown what Baker has and Matt Stafford is arguably past his best (above Baker talent wise minus the grit and determination in my opinion)
So with the Packers and Rams with equal or worse QB play than us, roster talent on offense goes to us against both teams, and defense we took a step up over last year, why are they a level above?
I’m not trying to be a smart Alec here, but it really doesn’t make sense to put those 2 teams in the tier that you are.
June 27th, 2025 at 11:06 am
@Ted ^^^
June 27th, 2025 at 11:19 am
@Baker Bowl,
Its just an opinion based on the Packers playing in a very tough division with a young, talented QB and a very good, innovative, young HC. I never stated that the Rams are above us, that was Shady McCoy. My comments were that the Rams are always a threat because of their Head Coach being elite. The Bucs play in the weakest division in Football and while Bowles seems to be a very nice human being, he is less than as a gameday coach. As stated before, all of this conjecture /opinion is just that. The Bucs have the talent, if healthy, to get hot and consistent in late December to make a deep playoff run and peak at the right time.
June 27th, 2025 at 11:26 am
Shady McCoy had the most reasonable response, even when Acho tried to say we don’t have the talent on offense compared to the RAMS(!?) and rattled off Evans, Irving, & Godwin before passing it to Shady. Didn’t go out of his way to bash Baker, but he def said he wasn’t as good as a Jayden Daniels or Dak Prescott on a player v. player perspective which is fair & I’ve heard McCoy speak about Mayfield a lot more negatively in the past.
James Jones thinks we’re not dominate and we play in a weak division, but we have no control of sharing a division with at least 3 poorly run organizations.
NOBODY brought that up as a copout for the Patriots decade and a half run sharing a division with the Jets, Dolphins & Bills. James Jones himself, played in an NFC North with basement dwellers in Chicago, Detroit, & pre-Justin Jefferson Vikings to where it was annually a one team race. So to make that the emphasis in your eval of the Bucs, when you as a player benefitted your whole career beating down lesser teams 6 weeks out of the season made me grin a little.
When Lesean McCoy is the voice of reason on your panel, that’s like making Joy Taylor “head” of HR.
June 27th, 2025 at 11:28 am
@Ted
Alright heard, I know it’s all opinion I wasn’t trying to go after you honestly. I see your point about the Rams, Stafford is good enough to execute something creative from McVay with subpar guys around him.
I just don’t see the Packers (also just my opinion). I think Jordan Love is in a kind of make or break spot and I see him breaking before he makes it. Although I do agree that Lafleur is a good HC, better than Bowles. Buddy also wanted the tush push banned though (no correlation with any actual coaching ability), so maybe that’s where I just lose respect for the guy’s as an NFL HC.
Banning a play is such a playground move. Can’t be an elite football mind with that mentality.
Regardless, hopefully the NFC will go through Tampa, I see us having major success barring any major injuries, I mean we had a path to the bowl last year with Godwin active in my opinion.
June 27th, 2025 at 11:31 am
McCoy dropped a wide open Brady TD pass against San Diego, I believe. He never played much after that. He sucked for the Bucs but probably harbors animosity.
June 27th, 2025 at 11:34 am
@Baker Bowl,
Point taken and I am hoping for a great season for the Bucs!
June 27th, 2025 at 11:53 am
Baker has two factors, the IT factor that is positive and the SH factor is on the negative side! It when he combines the two that contributes to turnovers!
June 27th, 2025 at 11:56 am
honestly,
i can’t think of anyone with less integrity than lesean mccoy
dude is a subhuman piece of trash
June 27th, 2025 at 12:06 pm
Did he neglect to notice we beat both the Eagles and the Lions last year? As far as the Eagles, the difference between the 23 eagles and the 24 eagles is the number 29 defense versus the number two defense
June 27th, 2025 at 12:31 pm
Doubt anything McCoy, Simms, Florio, PFF, or PPP says will affect move odds makers needle one bit. Bucs are favored to win the Division and have 7 other NFC teams with better odds of Winning the Conference and Super Bowl.
Confidence level on betting the Bucs @ Over 9.5 wins is also low.
Commanders exceeded expectations in 2024 but got a lot of help from opposing QB’s in the Playoffs before the reality set in.
Bucs got a break in 2023 seeded against a team that imploded down the stretch.
Bucs floor is second in the NFC South and the ceiling is pretty much where McCoy stated.
June 27th, 2025 at 12:39 pm
The Bucs have obviously improved from last season, almost across the board. There is not 1 position group that you could say went backwards this offseason.
Lions still have a great roster but their coaching and OL losses should not be overlooked.
Packers… well I trust Jordan Love less than I trust Baker, working eyeballs informed that opinion. Those teams are in the toughest division in football. Vikings and Bears can easily upset that apple cart.
Eagles still top of the class until proven otherwise but luckily for us, Bucs have their number. Rams got a decent squad, hitting on a lot of defensive picks and Nacua in recent drafts but 38 year old Stafford behind that OL would make me nervous.
WASH and Dallas, who knows. I like to think we will see regression outta the Commanders but Daniels looks like a star.
No reason that the Bucs aren’t a top contender to come outta the NFC.
June 27th, 2025 at 12:49 pm
I honestly have a hard time deciding what former Buc that I have the most disdain for. AB, Shady McCoy, Devin White or DJax. Obviously Shady is no fan of the Bucs organization and his takes are lazy.
June 27th, 2025 at 1:05 pm
I don’t get the Packer love across the media.
I don’t get the Baker hate either, especially after the last 2 years and the VERY visible issues with the defense.
June 27th, 2025 at 1:11 pm
The Bucs will achieve only what Bowles history points to: a mediocre to poor head coach with only one playoff win in 7 seasons – the game the Eagles quit trying.
Why does anyone expect anything different?
June 27th, 2025 at 1:23 pm
to ALL posters n readers and Joe-and especially Thisisouryear poster- Bakers ONE weakness is NOT NOT NOT his deep ball on the flyC!! His deep ball is astounding actually-didnt u SEE that less than 24hours Rams game and how Baker won it?? Deep Ball is GR8-he always has needed receivers 2 TRUST and GET DOWNFIELD Deep and QUICKLY -like at OU and his 2nd year at Browns-he needed Shep and CeeDee and Washington, etc-guys who would JUST RUN and put Arms out in front of them and let Baker drop in Bread Basket!!! Like that Rams game and that Deep Holy Mary 2 endzone that Godwin ran and CAUSHT N WON GAME and SEVERAL that Mike EVANS Pulled in last year 2-Baker just wasn’t ALLOWED 2 throw deep much!!! His quick short hard throws that get intercepted mite be his Krytonite-but-Baker doesn’t do those regularly-thank goodness-he will do LESS of those throws SINCE they r turning him loose this year EVEN MORE than last Co-ordinator let him loose
SOOO_ BANNER YEAR FOR BAKER AND THE BUCS!! SUPERBOWL TIME!!!!!!
June 27th, 2025 at 1:26 pm
LOL – No mention of the Vikings?
Let’s take a look at the tape guys!
The Bucs were 3rd in Passing last year, better than the Eagles, Packers and Rams
The Bucs were 4th in Rushing last year, better than the Lions, Packers and Rams
The Bucs were 4th in total TDs last year, better than the Eagles, Packers and Rams
The Bucs were 3rd in total yards last year, better than the Eagles, Packers and Rams
The Bucs were 4th in total points last year, better tthan the Eagles, Packers and Rams
In head to head contests last year, the Bucs were 1-0 aganst the Lions (road), and 1-0 against the Eagles (home)
The Bucs virtually returned all their starters from last year.
How does it compute that the Bucs have no chance against these teams???
June 27th, 2025 at 1:48 pm
Baker led the league in INTs and fumbles. Stop acting like he’s above criticism. He has to play better.
June 27th, 2025 at 2:11 pm
Baker is a good dude that plays with a lot of heart but he’s highly overrated if one is looking at just his yards & TDs.
Many Bucs fans don’t like to talk about his many games of barely passing for 100 yards in the first half of games and us falling behind early. Or his many turnovers. Or the fact, By Quarter, his QB ratings are much lower in the first 3 quarters than his much higher rating in the 4th – it’s proof that he racks up a lot of yards and TDs in garbage time when teams are playing softer coverage to protect multi-score lead.
I know, I know, many will just say I’m a Trask fan and that’s why I’m saying negative things about Baker. Nope. It’s because I’m a Bucs fan and can admit the reality that our starting QB just isn’t as great as some think he is.
June 27th, 2025 at 2:26 pm
Of course you see Daks championships and SB trophy and know how elite he is
June 27th, 2025 at 2:51 pm
WHO CARES!! Just go out and prove those CLOWNS wrong! Go Bucs!
June 27th, 2025 at 3:18 pm
Well that’s weird to me and the games I’ve watched.
In my eyes it’s BECAUSE OF Baker Mayfield that this team (even with a LOUSY defensive showing, BECAUSE OF the LOUSY defensive coaching) has been in this thing At All!
Meaning it’s CLEARLY THE DEFENSE that has us with our ceiling of BARELY making the playoffs and with a ceiling of ONE AND DONE and Maybe one post season win!
THE CEILING FOLKS IS NOT BAKERS FAULT! Well unless he’s Also required to play on the defensive side of the ball and I’m Pretty Sure he Doesn’t Play defense!
It’s Baker and the Offense thats keeping us in ANYTHING. And I’m Da@m SURE it’s BECAUSE OF Todd Bowles Poor Coaching and decision making for the Defense “90% of the time,” lost us Most Games!
Bowles is/ was a Lame Duck as well as hanging on the side of the hot seat! Glazers were smart to distract attention off Bowles and his constant short comings so that it’s not as Blatantly Obvious …
His coaching is either unimpressive OR he’s not smart enough to coach up the 3rd and 4th stringers in order to remain competitive!
The Lions are a PERFECT EXAMPLE of How To! They got down to 3rd and 4th stringers and BECAUSE Dan Campbell coaches ALL of his team up and NOT just the 1st and 2nd stringers, when they lost MANY of their top play makers and had to send in the next level…. YOU COULDN’T TELL THE DIFFERENCE IN PLAY BETWEEN THE 1ST STRING AND THE 3RD STRING! THAT IS HOW YOU COACH! And we haven’t had that since Arians left…
We EARNED the 29th ranked EMBARRASSMENT! It WASN’T on accident!
Those fools have it BACKWARDS though. Except the ceiling part. 20/20 vision is Easy when looking backwards at the truth.
Bakers fault…. YEAH RIGHT! The Only thing that’s been Bakers fault is him Personally Willing Us to Winning Games as he was fighting Against his own defenses short comings!
June 27th, 2025 at 4:10 pm
Dan Campbell is a good coach…BUT with all due respect
The Lions gave up 26.25 PPG over the last 8 games of the season
The Bucs gave up 17.5 PPG over the last 8 games of the season
Playoffs we gave up 23 pts to the Commanders
Playoffs Detroit gave up 45 pts to the same team.
Statically/objectively the Bucs defense (under Todd Bowles) out performed the lions defense over the last half of the season. If the lions (Dan Campbell) are an example of “how to” then I’d ask how to what? Suck worse than we did? 🤷🏼
June 27th, 2025 at 6:25 pm
When all is said and done, there are 2 teams that go to the superbowl each and every year. Last year we beat the team, Eagles, that won the superbowl by scoring 33 points on them. As for that other superbowl team, we had them beat with the 4th quarter drive with 2 minutes left and scored with 27 seconds left. It’s very easy to say we were better than the superbowl teams in 2024. This year we will be better.
June 27th, 2025 at 6:28 pm
It’s amazing how people seem to blow off the fact that Baker has choked in the 4th quarter of his last two playoff games, like that’s no big deal. People who don’t watch every week, and only see big games, they rarely see Baker show-up and perform, and unless he does that consistently, he’s not going to level up into the top tier of QBs.
June 27th, 2025 at 6:30 pm
GoneGator Says:

The Bucs gave up 17.5 PPG over the last 8 games of the season
———-
Who were the QBs that the Bucs faced in that stretch?
I think Campbell is greatly overrated and is about to get a reality check after losing his OC, but picking a stretch where the Bucs played what, 7 backup QBs, something like that, in 8 games isn’t really a great way to compare things.
June 27th, 2025 at 6:44 pm
Both are flat out wrong. Cut out six interceptions and Baker is in the MVP talk. This offense might be the best in the NFL this year. The defense, mark my words, will end up in the top 10 this year.
Barring injuries of course, they are a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
There is no doubt in my mind they win 12 + and go to the NFC championship game.
I firmly believe Eagles, Commanders, & Buccaneers are the main 3 in the NFC.
I think the Rams, Lions, and Packers are right behind them.
I’m not sold on Jordan love and the Lions just lost their center, which really affects their line play so I think they fall off a little.
June 27th, 2025 at 7:03 pm
@Rod
Justin Herbert ? Bryce Young ? Jayden Daniels ?
You can cherry pick or go game by game but I didn’t do that…. I just took the most recent 8 games which should be indicative of how the Ds played (with injuries).
The narrative that Dan Campbell showed us how a REAL coach deals with injuries and that Todd sucked at it is obviously false to anyone willing to look at the actual facts.
June 27th, 2025 at 7:04 pm
Old Rod, always willing and able to spread his lies abroad. Always trying to drag down the team as best he can.
June 27th, 2025 at 7:35 pm
Davyboy – Oh yes… Baker didn’t throw the INT in Detroit with 2 mins left in the 4th quarter of a playoff game – no, that was everyone’s imagination… Baker didn’t fumble the ball in the 4th quarter of the playoff game vs the Redskins after the defense made a huge goal line stand and gave the ball back to the offense with a chance to go up 2 scores and put the game away… no, that didn’t happen, it again was imagination. In fact in both games, Baker threw the game winning TD and the Bucs actually went on to win the SB both times, but there’s a mass conspiracy to rewrite history all in an effort to make Baker look back because everyone is against him. Preach on Baker Boi, tell everyone da real truth, open their eyes, mannn.
June 27th, 2025 at 11:11 pm
Oh I thought 🤔 there were “reasons” those things happened. I know you can’t “reason” anything out in your little brain rod but some people can. Try and reason this out rod, when a quarterback has THE highest passing efficiency EVER in the playoffs they dont choke. When something goes wrong there is a good chance there is a “reason” it went wrong. Like a rookie messing up from the pressure. The guy that plays better than anyone ever has in the playoffs probably isnt the problem.
Baker running backwards 2 yards behind him in order to “reach” McMillan should be a clue for you if you really knew football like the coach on PFF said it was McMillans fault. There are a 1,000 videos of it being ran right that you could watch since you have never been involved in running a jet sweep. But you know that and choose to act like there arent any videos because they go against what you want to believe. When I was in college and high school the jet sweep wasn’t ran where the quarterbacks had to reach, they turned and the receiver was right there in his hip pocket. See rod when the quarterback reaches the receiver is out of place and THAT is what causes fumbles. McMillan was out of place on a lot of plays last year. After all he was a rookie. As far as the pass is concerned someone was out of place because you had 2 receivers too close to each other. But I know you will hear nothing because you hate Baker so go on with your little delusions, you always do. When an NFL coach on PFF says it was McMillan that caused the fumble, it probably was McMillan that caused the fumble. Something for a normal person to consider. Normal being the key word rod.
June 27th, 2025 at 11:32 pm
When everybody does their job rob and are in the right place the 4th quarter drive in the rain with 2 minutes left against Kansas City is what happens when Baker is playing quarterback with this offense. But a quarterback isn’t a magician. If someone isn’t where they are supposed to be he can’t snap his fingers and make it all right. Being in the wrong place causes problems rod. I know that is hard for you to comprehend but it is true nonetheless.
June 28th, 2025 at 4:12 am
Haha…i just laugh. Heard a guy the other day saying we’re regressing…. we’ll win 5 games…the kitties will win the division with the birds in 2nd place.
Well, i guess we’ll see. Every team is 0-0 right now. The guys just need to get out there and fight. The disrespect is real. I say BRING IT bishh!!
June 28th, 2025 at 7:15 am
Florida bias. It’s cool to trash Florida. And the city of Tampa itself is a national joke.
June 28th, 2025 at 7:27 am
Lol…Well? He’s right. And TB’s beat writers are of the same “quality “🧐
June 28th, 2025 at 8:42 am
The offense will have very little to do with the downfall of this team. Bowles would rather give up field goal attempts than force punts. That is the issue.
June 28th, 2025 at 8:42 am

June 28th, 2025 at 11:03 am
They said he was average at best in Cleveland when they won their first playoff game since the 90s. The next year they said he was bad and the Browns moving on for the predator was a great move. They said his career was over in Carolina. They said the rams stint was a nice story but he’s at best a back up. They said the bucs were a bad team baker was a bad qb and they’d be at the bottom of the league. They said ok he’s a starting qb but he sure isn’t worth no 100 m and the bucs are going to be bad. Now it’s he’s good but the bucs are still bad so they already reached their ceiling because baker wont elevate them past 1 playoff win. I dont think they know wtf their talking about.
June 28th, 2025 at 12:14 pm
Shady lost all credibility when he said Dak Prescott was better than Mayfield. Baker was better statistically last year than all of those Shady mentioned except for Goff. In the entire NFL, Baker was 3rd in passing yards, 3rd in completion %, 3rd in TDs and 4th in QB rating. Goff was the only one of those QBs higher than Mayfield in any of those stats. Goff was higher in all except TDs.
June 28th, 2025 at 1:43 pm
lol who else do you all have to hear tell you all what I’ve been telling you all about BAKER. It’s just so many Buc fans are satisfied with just winning that 1 game and winning the division
June 28th, 2025 at 3:52 pm
Bucblam. I’m one of those guys that been trying to tell the fans you can’t be satisfied with just winning a weak division and getting knocked out of the playoffs the first or second round. They call me a hater because I want super bowls. Baker Mayfield has never played in a conference championship game and they still think he’s elite lol 🤣. He’s not a bad quarterback but he haven’t shown he can get you over the hump.
June 28th, 2025 at 4:56 pm
Again, for people that only see Tampa in prime-time games, Baker hasn’t been very impressive in those games, that and his choking in playoff games is why he’s not seen as a top tier QB.
But there’s a very very easy way to change that – just play well and win those games and the opinion will change pretty much overnight.
What stinks is that fumble vs the Redskins just… if Baker doesn’t fumble the ball, if he takes them the length of the field, gets a TD, goes up by two scores and the Bucs win the game – the Bucs are then going to Philly and I have zero doubt they win that game, the Bucs just absolutely own the Eagles. Had that happened, regardless of what would have happened in the NFC Championship game (they’d have faced the Rams most likely, which is the inverse of Eagles, in that Bucs always lose), Baker would have already got a huge contract extension, and I’d have been for it.
Just win when it matters Baker, that’s all you got to do to level up.
June 28th, 2025 at 8:25 pm
Rod . Think you bro because that’s all I’ve been saying for the past 2 years!! I agree 💯 percent!! These people think Baker Mayfield is exempt from criticism to me he’s been Dak in the playoffs. It’s funny how every time the cowboys lose they blame Dak and it’s never the defense fault. I don’t understand Baker Mayfield does the same thing he chokes in big games in cruiser moments when he can close out games or win them and they the first thing every one runs to is the defense.
June 28th, 2025 at 9:08 pm
When your quarterback plays good enough in the Washington game to have a passer rating of 146, only idiots think he choked…rod
When your quarterback has played better in the playoffs, career playoff passer rating of 105.9, than any other quarterback in the history of the game, only an idiot thinks he doesn’t play well…rod
What really stinks is if Barton didn’t snap the ball early on the 12 yard line we go up 7 not 3 and win the game and McMillan being out of position is a non-factor.
June 28th, 2025 at 9:27 pm
Res, that’s exactly right and what scares them most is 2025. They are so afraid Baker is going to have another career year. I bet they are losing sleep over it….they better, because the “team” is coming together and great things are about to happen and the guy they love to hate is leading the charge.

Rod the ONLY reason Baker isn’t top 3 is his interceptions and fumbles. It has nothing to do with his playoff play. Case in point, the PFF guys all agreed McMillan was out of place. See rod people that. “know” football, like the PFF boys, know who caused the fumble and it sure wasn’t Baker Mayfield. In fact, in that segment they talked about how his passer rating of 146 was the best of all the postseason play and they were impressed with his 146 as all people are that know football.

The last 10 years top playoff passer ratings.
2024–146
2023–158
2022–114
2021–149
2020–156
2019–111
2018–115
2017–115
2016–135
2015–93
So you see, rod, the game you claim Baker choked in was the 4th best game played by a quarterback in the last 10 years. And as the PFF boys or football analysts employed there said, Baker played one heck of a game.

To show how rare Bakers 146 was here are the playoff passer ratings from 2005-2014.
2014–113
2013–119
2012-117
2011–110
2010–109
2009–129
2008–112
2007–117
2006–98
2005–101
I don’t see anything close to 146.
So, for 20 years there are only 3 quarterbacks that played better postseasons than Baker. But Baker is a choker and bum to Rod Munch.

As bucs fans y’all have to want more than winning a trash division and losing in the first or second round playoffs. Some of y’all on here only care about Baker Mayfield having good numbers and going to a pro bowl that no one cares about or even watches anymore. Alex Smith did that with the Chiefs and they were winning 12 and 13 games with him but he couldn’t get them over the hump and they drafted a quarterback and let him sit behind Alex Smith for a year and the rest is history.

I hate to be the one to break this news to you onei but someone has to. You have been talking about how Alex Smith wasn’t able to get over the hump. Then the great Patrick Mahomes came and saved the day. Well here is how and why he was able to save the day. Alex was with KC from 2013–2017. In those years their pass blocking averaged a 19 ranking. Mahomes started in 2018. The “pass blocking” has averaged a 5.1 ranking up to 2024. He has enjoyed 3 years of his OL being ranked #1. That’s a one (1). Do you think that has had anything to do with Mahomes’ success over his 7 year career?? 19 vs. 5.1. This is almost 4 times better for Patrick. Yeah I am quite sure this is a big reason for his success.

It is interesting that Cleveland was ranked 4th in 2018 and in 2020 ranked 1. Baker had a down year in 2019. The ranking of the line was 17. All the experts said Baker had a bad year and he did but the line being 17 had everything to do with the bad year. It just shows how much the OL has to do with all quarterbacks success.

Or lack thereof

Davyboy. I hear you bro but at some point how much longer are you going to defend Baker Mayfield when he comes up short?
June 29th, 2025 at 11:53 pm
As long as you boys say things that don’t make sense. And that is probably going to be a while by the looks of it.
You know onei, Baker has proven all the things that people have said about him wrong. And what you few have been saying lately will be proved wrong also. And this just might be the year.
